Traveling Together
The entire land was deathly silent and empty, with cracked lava and hard soil stretching to the horizon. There was no wind, no movement. The surrounding environment was dull and arid, with only Geothermal seeping from the ground, which perpetually warmed the land. Along the way, not a single trace of life could be found. The entire Plane was nothing but a desolate and cold wasteland on the verge of extinction.
Lu Heng maintained a steady pace, slowly spreading his mental energy to continuously explore the surrounding environment and cautiously advance forward.
His long period of solitary exploration made this desolate wasteland even more oppressive. As he steadily moved forward, his outward-spreading spiritual energy suddenly caught a glimpse of unfamiliar life.
The aura was very clear and highly recognizable.
It was neither the Green Demon we had seen before, nor the Goblin we had passed by on our march; it was an aura completely different from that of other races.
They belong to the human survivors.
Lu Heng stopped in his tracks and stood still.
The unfamiliar presence was rapidly approaching, but he neither took the initiative to approach nor concealed himself. He simply stood quietly, waiting for the newcomer to appear.
A few seconds later, on the desolate horizon, a slender figure came running rapidly.
She is a young woman.
The girl's gaze swept quickly across the barren land, and the moment she saw Lu Heng standing alone, her eyes filled with intense joy. Without the slightest hesitation, she quickened her pace and ran towards Lu Heng.
In just a few seconds, she rushed to Lu Heng's side, her breath slightly rapid, her face full of joy at escaping death.
"Hello!"
The girl spoke very quickly, with obvious urgency.
"You must be a survivor too, right? Can we team up? Hey pro, can you help me out?"
Lu Heng lowered his eyes to look at the girl in front of him.
He channeled his spiritual power to carefully examine the other person's true intentions and emotional fluctuations.
Throughout the investigation, no hidden schemes, malice, or ulterior motives were detected. The other party's emotions were open and straightforward, and all their actions and demands were pure. They simply wanted to band together and survive in this strange and dangerous Other Plane, having met their own kind.
Lu Heng pondered for two seconds in silence, then nodded slightly.
"Can."
Upon receiving the reply, the girl was completely relieved, her tense body relaxed, and a faint smile appeared on her face.
"My name is Su Meng. What's your name?"
Lu Heng.
The two exchanged names briefly and continued their journey into the desolate wilderness side by side. The journey was tedious and long, so Su Meng took the initiative to speak, breaking the silence.
"Lu Heng, where did you mainly survive before?"
"Frost Forest," Lu Heng replied simply, his tone flat.
Upon hearing this, Su Meng sighed softly, her tone tinged with envy.
"That's great! I've been surviving in the Blackwater Swamp. There are so many insects there, it's really troublesome. When I first went there, I was bitten by all sorts of poisonous insects every day, there was no way to protect myself, and I suffered a lot."
She spoke as she walked, her tone sincere, sharing her most genuine experiences on her journey to survival.
"I've heard of the Frost Forest. Although it's teeming with wild beasts and lords, making it quite dangerous, at least it doesn't have an endless stream of poisonous insects. Compared to the Blackwater Swamp, it's already a much better environment for survival."
The two traveled together, exchanging questions and answers, casually chatting about their survival experiences. There were no unnecessary formalities, no deliberate attempts to strike up a conversation, just the most genuine exchange between two survivors from Other Plane.
After walking a distance along the cracked rocky ground, the movement of living beings finally reappeared in the empty wasteland ahead.
A group of Green Demon blocked the middle of the road.
The state of this group of Green Demon was roughly similar to that of the Green Demon in the remnant forest that Lu Heng had previously cleared out; most of them were old, weak, sick, or disabled, with weakened physiques and limited combat power. However, unlike before, this group of Green Demon included several robust young men who possessed full combat capabilities.
The moment the group of Green Demon spotted Lu Heng and Su Meng, all their movements froze.
In the eyes of those foreigners, disbelief was clearly written.
In this Plane resources are depleted and life is almost extinct, the sudden appearance of two alien humans is completely beyond their comprehension.
Lu Heng coldly swept his gaze over the group of Green Demon, accurately capturing the emotions deep within their eyes.
After the initial surprise faded, all that remained was raw hunger and the predatory glint in the eyes of a hunter.
Seeing the Green Demon's gaze, Su Meng tensed instantly, a strong sense of fear welling up inside her.
She had never seen aliens in this state before. The monsters she had encountered in the forest before were ferocious but had a traceable pattern, but these Green Demon in front of her had cold and eerie eyes, full of primal predatory and devouring desires.
Su Meng subconsciously took half a step closer to Lu Heng, her voice filled with barely concealed panic.
Let's run!
"This is the first time I've ever seen these Green Demon. I've never encountered any like them before in the Frost Forest! Their eyes are terrifying!"
"Let's run faster, if we're quick, we can still escape!"
Seeing Su Meng's terrified face and her desperate desire to leave, Lu Heng remained calm and composed, showing no emotion whatsoever.
He turned his head to look at Su Meng, his tone calm and resolute.
"It doesn't matter."
Su Meng stared blankly at Lu Heng beside her, completely bewildered, not understanding where his confidence came from.
Just as she was filled with surprise and doubt, a cold, sharp light suddenly flashed by.
The Star Blade appeared out of thin air and landed steadily in Lu Heng's palm. The blade was sharp and had a cold, white luster.
Lu Heng quickly weighed the pros and cons in his mind.
This Plane is rich in Geothermal and has a unique environment, fraught with unknown risks. To be on the safe side, we cannot give any alien race a chance to retaliate.
With his mind made up, he no longer hesitated, gripped the Star Blade, and pounced straight towards the horde of Green Demon ahead.
To Su Meng's utter astonishment, every movement of Lu Heng was incredibly smooth and fluid.
There were no stiff moves, no unnecessary dragging; every swing, slash, and thrust was precise and swift. Despite the fierce and ruthless killing, the movements flowed exceptionally smoothly, like a graceful dance.
A cold glint flashed as the sharp blades whistled through the air.
The Green Demon, a mixed group of old, weak, and young, couldn't even muster a decent counterattack before being swiftly and decisively defeated.
The whole process was decisive and overwhelming.
Su Meng stood frozen in place, her pupils contracting slightly, completely stunned by the scene before her, unable to recover for a long time.
