Treasure Chest Floor

In the blink of an eye, the morning passed.

The system gave another notification.

"Beep. The floor the host is about to enter is the Treasure Chest Floor. There are two Black Gold Chests in total. The host must defeat the monsters on the Treasure Chest Floor before opening the chests."

"Beep! There are 10 monsters on the Treasure Chest Floor: four Slimes, two Orcs, and four Brainless Knights."

"Beep! Treasure Hunter Quest triggered. The host will receive double rewards by killing all the monsters and then opening the chests."

"That generous!"

Lin Feng wasted no time gearing up fully.

He checked his ammunition and loaded a grenade this time, too.

Since he had never encountered these monsters before and wasn't sure how powerful their attacks were, he still needed to bring all his best weapons to be safe.

[Ding-dong! The elevator is descending. Please hold on.]

Soon, Lin Feng pressed the button to open the elevator doors.

As soon as he stepped out, four skeletons (Brainless Knights) charged at him.

"Fuck! An ambush right at the door, huh!"

Lin Feng hurriedly rolled to the side, while the Little Velociraptor pounced straight onto a skeleton, pinning it to the ground and biting it relentlessly.

These skeletons weren't entirely skeletons, either. Their brains were actually still there, just exposed.

Lin Feng had no idea how that worked.

But that didn't stop him from killing them.

After several shots pierced their brains, the monsters finally died.

These should be the Brainless Knights, right? Orcs and Slimes are pretty easy to tell apart.

At first, Lin Feng had wondered what these Brainless Knights were. So this was all they were. They really were brainless enough.

Splat! Splat!

Lin Feng looked toward the sound and discovered that four Slimes had surrounded him. The two Orcs had closed in as well, but the Velociraptor was holding them off for now.

Boom!

Since the Slimes didn't move very fast, Lin Feng easily put a safe distance between them and himself, then fired a grenade at them.

The four Slimes instantly exploded into eight.

Their splatting noises were utterly disgusting.

Lin Feng hurriedly loaded another grenade and fired again. This time, the Slimes split straight into sixteen, and their movement speed increased considerably, too.

"Fuck! Still splitting!"

Lin Feng cursed angrily, then caught sight of the Little Velociraptor struggling out of the corner of his eye. He hurriedly fired several shots at the Orc that was about to attack the Little Velociraptor.

The original four large Slimes had split into sixteen small ones, and they were much faster, too.

In a moment of inattention, the Slimes closed in on Lin Feng. With no other choice, he raised his gun and sprayed wildly.

He fired as he retreated. After emptying a magazine, the Slimes finally stopped moving.

Now only one Orc remained.

The Little Velociraptor's fighting prowess was impressive. It bit the Orc to death in just a few attacks.

As for the Little Velociraptor, it had taken a few hits, but judging by how lively it was, it probably wasn't anything serious.

"Great job. Here's your reward."

Lin Feng took a piece of smoked mutton jerky from his backpack and tossed it to the Little Velociraptor.

"Rawr~~"

After the monsters were killed, two black treasure chests suddenly popped up on the floor.

These should be the Black Gold Chests, right?

With that thought, Lin Feng went over and opened the Black Gold Chests.

The contents of the two chests were: 10 gold coins, one suit of Chainmail, and a vial of blood with a note stuck to it that read, "Healing Potion. Drinking this will heal injuries."

Last was a ring with the word "Lucky" engraved on it.

"Could this boost luck?"

Lin Feng scratched his head, immediately feeling that it was quite possible. Just then, the system's voice rang out.

"Beep! Congratulations to the host on completing the quest. All items obtained from the chests are doubled."

The next moment, another copy of every item spawned beside the chests.

The items obtained from the chests became twenty gold coins, two suits of Chainmail, two Healing Potions, and two Lucky Rings.

Lin Feng first put both rings on his fingers, then put everything else away.

He wouldn't wear the Chainmail just yet. He could put it on the next time he visited a new floor.

Lin Feng had originally wanted to toss the two Black Gold Chests into the Material Storage Area as well, but it actually refused to accept them. After he tossed them in, they were thrown back out.

Since even the Material Storage Area didn't want them, then... Lin Feng didn't mind taking them. He casually put them in a corner, then opened the Chatroom to see whether anyone had traded with him.

After opening it, he still found a huge pile of private messages. He clicked to filter them all out, then checked the Exchange.

No one had traded.

The number of people who had favorited the listing had increased quite a bit, though.

Maybe it's because I came back too quickly. Most people probably haven't finished their floors yet.

Afterward, Lin Feng ate something and continued exercising.

Two hours later, Lin Feng drank a bottle of water and checked the screen again.

"Holy shit, someone actually traded!"

Seeing the red dot on the Exchange, Lin Feng hurriedly opened it, then discovered that the two Fever Reducer tablets had been traded away.

He also retrieved all the items obtained from the trade.

One hundred kilograms of copper, plus twenty kilograms of iron.

After stuffing everything into the Material Storage Area, Lin Feng clicked to upgrade the elevator.

A moment later, the elevator was successfully upgraded. As usual, the elevator became more spacious, and the vent was upgraded as well.

The workbench had changed, too. It now had a Grinding Wheel.

Apart from that, something else had appeared at the elevator entrance.

[Trigger-Activated Poison Needle Trap: Can be activated once for every floor visited. Automatically identifies friendly and hostile targets. When a hostile target passes by, it automatically fires poison needles. The hostile target will die of poisoning after one second.]

"This thing is fucking awesome."

Lin Feng looked it over and promptly clicked to activate it. There was also an "Add to Friendly List" setting beside it, which only required facial recognition. The facial recognition device could even be detached, making it very user-friendly.

Lin Feng's own data was already in it.

The Velociraptor's wasn't, though.

"Little Raptor! Come here."

"Rawr?"

Hearing his call, the Little Velociraptor hurried over from beside the pool, still carrying a half-eaten fish in its mouth.

"Come on, facial-no, raptor-face verification."

As he spoke, Lin Feng picked up the Little Velociraptor and positioned its face toward the facial recognition device.

The next moment, the large words "Added successfully" appeared on the screen.

"Okay! Go play."

After setting the Little Velociraptor down, Lin Feng left him alone.

A few more fish had probably spawned in the pool. It could eat them if it wanted. Ideally, it would grow bigger as soon as possible.

Then it could fight alongside him, too. Its fighting prowess was already so impressive before adulthood. What would it be like once it was fully grown?
