"The Kirin Tor has passed its final resolution and confirmed the plan to send an envoy to Quel'Thalas," Archmage Aethas Sunreavers told the other two.
The only others in the room were the two elves, Harry Potter Dawnblade and Xendari Windrunner. After coming to Dalaran, they had joined Archmage Aethas as leading figures among Dalaran's high elves.
"Ever since Arthas breached Silvermoon City, all of Quel'Thalas has been under Patrick Cabrolon's control. Now the entire city obeys his every command, and he is extremely hostile toward Dalaran. We have no confidence that we can persuade him." Harry Potter Dawnblade had once been a member of the Dawnblade Family. His standing had been neither high nor low, leaving him in an awkward position in Silvermoon City, so he had used the Dawnblade Family's connections to come to Dalaran.
"But his ability is certainly beyond question. You can see that from Quel'Thalas's development." Xendari Windrunner, beside him, still acknowledged Patrick's accomplishments, but then changed tack. "We cannot let him control Silvermoon City completely. In the future, even the Windrunner family might become his private property. I do not want to see that happen."
None of these matters was Aethas's main concern. He had plans of his own. He was already a member of the Kirin Tor's Council, but Dalaran had still promised him generous terms that tempted him greatly.
Even now, back in Sunreaver Sanctuary, Aethas was still recalling Modera's words. The terms she had offered were so tempting that he could not help siding with Dalaran. He had perfectly filled the vacancy Kael'thas had left, while also turning a blind eye to what had happened to Kael'thas.
