Background / History
Rebirth and the Break with Tang San
Dai Mubai returned to his youth with memories of a previous life in which he had become a god. At Shrek Academy, he joined Yu Xiaogang and the other reborn companions in confronting Tang San over grievances associated with their lives in the Divine Realm. He resented the loss of his standing as their leader and believed Tang San had treated the others as subordinates rather than equals 1 37 112.
Unaware that the current Tang San was a modern transmigrator, Dai Mubai demanded an accounting and declared that Tang San no longer belonged to the Shrek Seven Monsters. Tang San accepted the separation rather than apologize. Dai Mubai subsequently maintained that their previous cultivation experience would allow the remaining members to succeed without him 1 14.
Tournament and Imperial Family Defeat
After Shrek merged into Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Dai Mubai competed with its Second Team. With the immortal herbs unavailable, the team sought recognition and cultivation resources through the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. Their previous-life combat experience helped them finish the preliminaries undefeated 13 14.
In the finals, Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing used Hell White Tiger, knocking an opponent out of the arena and dispersing large portions of the enemy's mist. Xie Yue and Yan held the fusion beast in check while Hu Liena charmed several supporting teammates, effectively deciding the match for Spirit Hall 16.
Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing had burned their potential to strengthen themselves for the tournament. The resulting cultivation penalty left them poorly equipped to challenge Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun after returning to Star Luo. They were defeated and eventually expelled from their families, surviving through Spirit Hall's intervention 17 23 35 38.
Failed Asura Inheritance Plan
Unable to rely on ordinary cultivation alone, Dai Mubai sought the Divine Slaughter's Domain as a route to the Asura God's inheritance. He believed his experience of becoming a god would help him and Zhu Zhuqing complete Slaughter City's challenges 23.
They instead found Slaughter City destroyed and its streets filled with corpses. Dai Mubai blamed Tang San, alleging that he had deliberately eliminated the inheritance route to prevent anyone else from becoming the Asura God. This was Dai Mubai's accusation, not an established explanation of Tang San's motive 23.
Spirit Hall Patronage and Xiao Wu's Betrayal
At the five-year Shrek reunion, Dai Mubai claimed to have reached an agreement with a powerful patron and expected to begin divine trials. He then led the others into the Star Dou Great Forest to find Xiao Wu, describing her strength as indispensable to their plans 35 37.
When Xiao Wu urged reconciliation with Tang San, Dai Mubai demanded that she choose sides. After she refused to abandon Tang San, Spirit Hall Soul Masters surrounded her at his signal. Yue Guan's remarks exposed that Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing had secured Spirit Hall's protection by supplying information about Xiao Wu's identity as a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast 37 38 40.
Tang San intervened and revealed his position as the Pope's disciple. He ordered Yue Guan to cripple Dai Mubai for betraying Xiao Wu, but Gui Mei prevented the attack. Dai Mubai and the others had been personally selected by Bibi Dong to join Spirit Hall 39 43.
Rakshasa Trials and Defeat by Tang San
After completing the first Rakshasa God Trial, Dai Mubai returned to Star Luo and challenged Dai Weisi again. He claimed Spirit Hall's support and expected to become its next Pope, only to discover that Tang San was already Acting Pope 62 63.
Dai Mubai attacked with Evil Tiger Rakshasa Slaughter, planning around Tang San's previous-life abilities. Tang San's changed Soul Skills defeated that strategy: he blocked the attack, pierced Dai Mubai's shoulder, and restrained him with water and Blue Silver Emperor strands. Tang San then destroyed his right eye before Zhu Zhuqing rescued him 63.
Still seeking greater standing, Dai Mubai planned to kill Dai Weisi and inherit Star Luo. He claimed support from an enshrined and intended to bring Oscar along, but Oscar returned only as a mass of evil thoughts, interrupting the plan 79.
Failed Soul Ring Hunt
Dai Mubai later led Zhu Zhuqing and Ma Hongjun on a hunt for Soul Rings at least fifty thousand years old. His Rakshasa Domain detected a roughly sixty-thousand-year Dark Demon Evil God Tiger, which he considered an ideal match for his Martial Soul and a chance to surpass Tang San 102.
The tiger resisted both his soul attack and his domain, then overwhelmed the trio. Before they could retreat, Tang San appeared and immobilized them with Divine Slaughter's Domain. The tiger's intervention diverted Tang San's attention, allowing Dai Mubai to conceal his companions in purple mist and escape 103 104 105.
Although all three subsequently obtained seventh Soul Rings, Dai Mubai remained fixated on losing the tiger. He rejected Ma Hongjun and Zhu Zhuqing's advice to abandon revenge 112.
Conspiracy Against the Spirit Hall Empire
Dai Mubai recruited Yu Tianheng and Yu Xiaogang to gather surviving Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan members against Tang San. He claimed backing from a Limit Douluo and offered Yu Tianheng access to Rakshasa's ranks. After Yu Tianheng obtained his own godhood inheritance and overpowered him, their cooperation became an increasingly unequal bargain 82 113.
Recognizing that he could not defeat Tang San directly, Dai Mubai arranged an attack on Ninth Elder Xu Qing and reported the elder's death to his allies. Xu Qing's assassination became a means of fomenting unrest within Spirit Hall 121.
Dai Mubai then approached the Heaven Dou and Star Luo leadership as an insider of the Spirit Hall Empire. He hoped to exploit an apparent split between Tang San and the Worship Hall, but Tang San and Qian Daoliu had staged that conflict to lure their enemies into attacking. Dai Mubai's report helped convince Xue Beng to prepare an all-out offensive 125 127.
Final Confrontation and Sacrifice
After the allied empires' defeat, Dai Mubai tried to flee while Ma Hongjun and Zhu Zhuqing refused to keep running. When Tang San reached their hiding place, Dai Mubai accused his companions of informing on them. Xue Beng then revealed that he had led Tang San there, blaming Dai Mubai's unreliable intelligence for the Heaven Dou Empire's defeat 137 138.
Dai Mubai refused to surrender and released eight Soul Rings. During the confrontation, he pushed Zhu Zhuqing aside and lost an arm to the Asura Sacred Sword. He then drained Rakshasa power from her and sacrificed himself to summon the Rakshasa God. Tang San decapitated him, but purple smoke rejoined his head and the deity took control of his body 138 139.
The possessing Rakshasa God fought Tang San and killed Yu Xiaogang to absorb the Gray Qi emerging from his corpse. Yue Guan and Gui Mei later explicitly recognized that the power they had witnessed could not have been Dai Mubai's own 139 140.
Appearance
Dai Mubai has unmistakable golden hair. His later appearances show the accumulated effects of defeat, injury, and Rakshasa power 23 35 61.
- Facial scar: Appears weathered and scarred by his visit to the ruined Slaughter City; a savage scar over one eye is conspicuous at the five-year reunion 23 35.
- Purple hair strands: Several strands of purple appear among his golden hair after his involvement in the divine trials 61.
- Destroyed right eye: Tang San pierces it with the Blue Silver Overlord Spear; Dai Mubai subsequently wears bandages over the injury 63 64.
- Martial Soul possession: His body enlarges, his muscles swell, and purple mist coils around his white-tiger form. In his final confrontation, purple Qi mingles with golden fur 102 112 138.
Personality
Dai Mubai's ambition centers on escaping Tang San's shadow. He resents being called “Boss Dai” without possessing the authority he associates with leadership, and interprets their previous life's achievements as opportunities for Tang San to take the credit. Rebirth strengthens his conviction that he deserves to become a God King himself 37.
His pride repeatedly overrides practical warnings. He attacks the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger despite Ma Hongjun's objections, rejects reconciliation, and treats Zhu Zhuqing's concern as evidence that she wants to abandon him. Yet his defiance coexists with fear: when Tang San overwhelmingly surpasses him, he invokes Rakshasa's protection or attempts to flee rather than accept defeat 102 104 112 137.
His treatment of former companions becomes increasingly instrumental. He sells information about Xiao Wu to secure protection, suspects his allies of betrayal, and ultimately drains Zhu Zhuqing's Rakshasa power for his final summoning 38 40 138 139.

Evil Tiger Rakshasa Slaughter

Previous-Life Experience
- Retains memories of cultivation, combat, and having attained godhood.
- Gains a major experience advantage over teenage tournament opponents.
