Background / History

Appointment as Tang San’s Guardian

Yue Guan was a veteran Spirit Hall Elder who had served Bibi Dong for many years. Despite reaching the Titled Douluo realm, he possessed no soul bone before following Tang San. Bibi Dong appointed him as her new disciple’s Guardian Daoist and instructed Tang San to approach him for resources and assistance 3 59.

During Tang San’s visit to Dugu Bo, Yue Guan intervened when the Poison Douluo became hostile. He initially opposed letting Tang San enter Dugu Bo’s medicinal garden alone, emphasizing that his duty was to ensure the boy’s safety 4.

Tang San subsequently gave him a Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum. Overwhelmed by receiving an Immortal Herb identical to his own Martial Soul, Yue Guan swore to protect Tang San regardless of whether he remained Bibi Dong’s disciple or a member of Spirit Hall. This transformed an assigned duty into personal allegiance 6.

Protecting Tang San’s Cultivation

Yue Guan took charge of Tang San and Yan’s Soul Beast hunt in Sunset Forest. He captured the twelve-thousand-year Jadewater Golden-Eyed Crocodile chosen for Tang San’s fourth Soul Ring, despite fearing that its age exceeded Tang San’s absorption limit. He guarded the successful absorption and escorted both youths out of the forest 9 12.

When Tang Hao appeared, Yue Guan believed he had come to retaliate against Spirit Hall. Acknowledging that he could not defeat Clear Sky Douluo, he nevertheless offered to hold him off so Tang San could escape. He later reaffirmed that his promise would stand even if Tang San’s opponent became Spirit Hall itself 18.

Yue Guan also guarded Tang San throughout the nine-day awakening of the Blue Silver Emperor and helped bring Ah Yin to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 20.

Soul Hunting Operation

Yue Guan and Gui Mei participated in the operation against Xiao Wu, restraining Er Ming with their Martial Soul Fusion Skill. When Tang San later ordered Yue Guan to cripple Dai Mubai, Gui Mei stopped him because of the political consequences within Spirit Hall 38 39 40.

Under Tang San’s command, Yue Guan helped lead the nighttime assault on the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. He and Gui Mei attacked Yu Yuanzhen from opposite sides and struck his vital points after Tang San blocked his desperate counterattack 49.

During the subsequent campaign, Yue Guan blocked Yang Wudi’s attack on Tang San, fought Tang Xiao, and helped Dugu Bo’s forces kill the Clear Sky Sect’s Third Elder. Following the sect’s surrender, Tang San rewarded him with the Titan Giant Ape right arm soul bone 53 57 58 59.

Supporting Tang San’s Authority

Yue Guan arranged transport for Tang San’s journey to Sea God Island and accompanied him with Gui Mei. Both remained present during Tang San’s early Sea God trials 66 67 70 71.

As conflict with the Worship Hall intensified, Yue Guan openly supported Tang San. He fought Mighty Lion Douluo, helped restrain the King of Slaughter during Tang Chen’s restoration, and later joined Gui Mei and Dugu Bo in preventing Light Feather Douluo from interfering in Tang San’s battle 76 77 84 85 92.

After Xu Qing’s suspicious death, Yue Guan and Gui Mei confronted Light Feather Douluo and demanded his cooperation with the investigation. Yue Guan rejected the Worship Hall’s claim to exemption under the old rules. His newly revealed Level 98 strength helped secure Light Feather’s compliance 122 123.

War and the Flower God’s Inheritance

Yue Guan informed Tang San that Heaven Dou and Star Luo had assembled a million-strong army against the Spirit Hall Empire. On the battlefield, he worried that Dugu Bo could be surrounded by enemy experts and later effortlessly blocked Yu Tianheng’s attack 128 129 131.

Against the Rakshasa God possessing Dai Mubai, Yue Guan and Gui Mei immobilized the enemy long enough for Tang San to strike with the Asura Sacred Sword. Their intervention created the opening for Tang San to destroy the possessed body 140.

After reporting that matters concerning Zhu Zhuqing and Ma Hongjun had been handled, Yue Guan received the Flower God’s inheritance from Tang San. Its first trial recognized his previous absorption of an Immortal Herb, immediately granting the reward that made him a Limit Douluo. He then began preparing to pursue the remaining trials 143 144.
