Background / History

According to Xiao Man, the pagoda was built by countless ancient gods over hundreds of thousands of years to resist a great tribulation in which heaven and earth collapsed and the gods perished. It was lost after that calamity, later reappearing several times and provoking wars among gods for possession of it. 599

Later revelations establish that it is far older than this legend suggests. Netherbone Dao Venerable identifies it as the foremost of the Ten Primordial Treasures, born at the opening of the Great Thousand World alongside the Primordial Forces, before the evolution of the Heavenly Dao. It possesses authority over reincarnation, life, and death, and is said to be capable of reversing the cycle of life and death. 4203

Ye Chuang gathered master divine-artifact refiners to rebuild and modify the damaged pagoda as part of his plan to preserve hope for the Human Race after the Calamity Transformation. 1698 2102 The Reincarnation Divine Ancestor confirms that Ye Chuang placed a strand of Reincarnation Qi within it, enabling its master to locate the Reincarnation Treasure Key and reach the Divine Ancestor's secret realm. 1642 Ye Chuang later tells Lu Ren that he did not originally give him the pagoda: it came from someone who resembled Lu Ren. 2268

The first three accessible levels were additions made by Ye Chuang and the artifact refiners to the damaged original artifact. The fourth level reached by Lu Ren is therefore described as the pagoda's “true first level,” an intrinsic portion of the artifact rather than one of Ye Chuang's later constructions. 2102

Lu Ren initially knows it only as the Nameless Treasure Pagoda. A mysterious man identifies it as the Reincarnation Ancient Pagoda and tells Lu Ren that its time-cultivation function is merely a fraction of its actual power. 586 Xiao Man later recognizes the name and explains its legendary history. 599 A black-robed figure claiming to be Lu Ren describes using the pagoda at the end of his life to send a sliver of divine sense into the past; the full implications of his account remain unclear. 1220

After its repair, Little Broken Tower regains its memories and recounts that Lu Ren's father carried both his newborn son and the pagoda while pursued by Great Venerable Wu Yue. The pagoda was badly damaged in the conflict. According to the artifact spirit, Lu Ren's father then forced it to acknowledge the infant as its master and sent him a million years into the future using Space-Time Laws. 2299

Ancestral Land Legacy

Ming Qitian previously used the Reincarnation Ancient Pagoda to establish the seal around the Reincarnation Netherkin Ancestral Land. The seal suppressed the Six Paths Reincarnation Origin Embryo, an innate Dao artifact linked to Reincarnation Nether Mountain's earth veins, whose leaking Reincarnation Tribulation Aura had endangered the Reincarnation Netherkin and mutated its bloodline. 4424

As the pagoda's new master, Lu Ren can enter this sealed land despite not being a Reincarnation Netherkin. Little Broken Tower indicates that the pagoda's connection to Ming Qitian is the reason for this recognition. 4423 4424

The pagoda's aura and Lu Ren's Remnant Qi of the Void of Destiny Battle Body lead Netherbone Dao Venerable to speculate that Lu Ren may be Ming Qitian's reincarnation. This remains unconfirmed. 4203

Little Broken Tower later suggests that Ming Qitian may have deliberately left the Six Paths Reincarnation Origin Embryo and the Six Paths Reincarnation Canon for a future master of the pagoda. This is its conjecture, not an established account of Ming Qitian's intentions. 4427
