• Divine protection: The shell is associated with the Mysterious Nether Immortal Armor, a Super Divine Artifact whose pressure unsettles even the Divine Realm’s gods 2 25.
• Mobile landmass: Lu Changqing carries the entire continent through the ocean. Its seemingly ponderous movement is fast enough to force open an immense oceanic rift and generate violent tsunamis 8.
• Surface landscape: Mountain ranges, countless Soul Tool cities, spiritual energy, and gathering thunderclouds cover its surface 8.
• Cultivation environment: Energy released during Lu Changqing’s system-assisted slumber continually strengthens the continent, making it an enormous cultivation haven 30.
• Concealment: Lu Changqing’s system concealed his presence and the continent from the Divine Realm. Earlier investigations prompted by Poseidon’s report found no trace of it 25 32.

History

Settlement and Unification

Humans and Soul Beasts from different continents settled on Lu Changqing’s shell, developing an independent ecosystem. Before unification, its human kingdoms were fragmented and frequently at war 1.

Fifty thousand years before the main story, Lu Changqing created a human avatar with the God-Level Divine Beast Xuanwu Martial Soul. This avatar united the continent, founded the Xuanwu Empire, and established the imperial bloodline. The Human-Origin Clone subsequently accumulated faith and divine remnants in secret 1 63.

Contact with Other Continents

Over its long travels, Xuanwu Continent repeatedly bordered other lands, taking in inhabitants, Martial Soul lineages, and technology. Contact with Sun Moon Continent introduced Soul Tool Technology, which Lu Changqing deliberately developed beyond Sun Moon’s contemporary standards 1.

Earlier contact with Douluo Continent brought ancestors of the Thunder Dragon Sect and Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bears to Xuanwu. Later arrivals from other continents introduced additional powerful lineages, reducing the Thunder Dragon Sect’s relative standing 23 31.

The Ye family migrated from the Sun Moon Empire ten thousand years before the story. Its Bright Phoenix and Death God Demon Puppet inheritances helped it become one of Xuanwu Continent’s five greatest powers 15.

Poseidon’s Visit

Twenty thousand years before the main story, Poseidon discovered the continent while gathering faith overseas. He found a society more developed than Douluo Continent, with faster Soul Beast cultivation and a higher likelihood of humans awakening Innate Soul Power 11.

Poseidon attempted to conquer it, but the reigning Xuanwu Emperor led him beneath the continent. The sight and leaked presence of the sleeping Lu Changqing terrified him into retreat. After ascending, Poseidon reported the encounter to the Divine Realm, whose investigation failed to locate the continent 11 25.

Government and Society

Imperial Rule

• Unified empire: Lu Ye governs through a court incorporating civil officials, generals, major sects, and great clans 1.
• Ancestral communication: Emperors with sufficiently pure imperial blood can communicate briefly with the sleeping Lu Changqing at intervals, receiving advance information about approaching continents 1.
• Expansion policy: These messages allow the empire to prepare military campaigns and resource extraction before establishing contact with another landmass 1 2.
• Domestic restrictions: Lu Ye forbids the Holy Spirit Cult from conducting unrestricted bloodshed within imperial territory 42.
• Conquest abroad: The empire’s protection of domestic order does not extend equally to enemies. Lu Ye permits Ye Xishui’s proposed consumption of the captured Bo Saixi, provided it remains secret and occurs away from the frontline 42 43.

Humans and Soul Beasts

Human–Soul Beast coexistence is a defining feature of the continent, supported by Lu Changqing’s protection. Its society includes organized beast clans, transformed Soul Beast cultivators, and institutions built through cooperation between humans and Soul Beasts 1 31 53.

• Transformation protection: Power from Lu Changqing’s sleeping body conceals the residual beast presence of transformed Soul Beasts before maturity, improving their safety 53.
• Shared institutions: The Blue Silver Sect demonstrates that humans and Soul Beasts can form a sect together 53.
• Cultivation and competition: Transformed inhabitants of True Dragon Forest regularly compete and fight with human sect experts 84.
• Continuing conflict: Coexistence does not eliminate rivalry. The Ice Prison Xuan Chi loses mineral veins in a wager, while the Silver Emperor is defeated by a younger Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear 4.

Soul Cores and Body Tempering

• Soul Core cultivation: Soul Cores are already standard among Xuanwu’s Titled Douluo, although the method has not yet appeared on contemporary Douluo Continent 1.
• Body preparation: Cultivators use spiritual materials to cleanse marrow, strengthen bones, widen meridians, and nourish their bodies with Soul Power 18.

Revelation and Approach

The story opens with Lu Ye receiving notice that Xuanwu Continent is approaching Douluo Continent. The empire prepares for expansion after learning how far its neighbor lags behind in Soul Tools and cultivation methods 1 2.

The Sky Screen establishes separate Xuanwu and Douluo sections, exposing the continent’s technology, imperial affairs, and powerful beasts to overseas audiences. Its later planetary projection confirms that Xuanwu is physically advancing toward Douluo rather than remaining isolated across the sea 4 8.

Sea God Island and the Coastal Campaign

Lu Wudao’s advance fleet attacks Sea God Island, while Lu Ye supplies sect experts for the seven-duel contest against its Sacred Pillar Guardians 20 23.

By the imperial discussions following Bo Saixi’s defeat, Sea God Island and Xuanwu Continent have become joined. The empire uses its foothold to prepare the offensive toward Dragon-Slaying Pass and continues landing troops through occupied Vast Sea Fortress 43 79.

Foreign Infiltration and Recruitment

Tang Hao and Tang San enter Xuanwu seeking the Silver Emperor’s help. Imperial officials deliberately leave an opening near Rocky Strait, judging the pair easier to exploit than fear. Their expedition ends with Tang Hao imprisoned and Tang San losing his Blue Silver Emperor origin; after reviving Tang San, the Asura God forbids him from returning 35 45 66 70 72.

Other factions seek accommodation rather than resistance. Gu Rong visits the continent to investigate its cultivators, while the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect pursues ancestral ties with the Thunder Dragon Sect as a potential route to survival under Xuanwu rule 73 79 80.

Confrontation with the Divine Realm

Xuanwu’s advance threatens the Divine Realm’s faith sources and inheritances on Douluo Star. Lu Changqing’s manifestation at Spirit City and declaration of planetary unification prompt the gods to accelerate divine inheritances for Bibi Dong and Tang Chen 26 88 92.

Meanwhile, Xuan Zi offers the Far North’s Three Great Clans protection from tribulations in exchange for submission, extending the empire’s campaign beyond conquest of human states 84 86.
