Background / History

Lu Changqing transmigrated into the Douluo world roughly one hundred thousand years before the original story, reincarnating as a young Xuanwu at sea. His Sleeping System made him stronger and larger the longer he slept. Ecosystems gradually formed on his shell, attracting humans and Soul Beasts from the continents he passed 1.

After attaining godhood approximately fifty thousand years before the main story, he created a human avatar with the God-Level Martial Soul Divine Beast Xuanwu. Through this avatar, he ended the wars between the kingdoms on his back, founded the Xuanwu Empire, married, and established its imperial bloodline. He also compiled information about other continents for later generations 1.

During subsequent ocean journeys, Lu Changqing brought Soul Tool Technology from the Sun Moon Continent to Xuanwu. His guidance accelerated its development into civilian infrastructure and advanced military weapons, including Level 9 Soul Tools and Godslayer-Class Level 10 Fixed Soul Guidance Cannons. Under his care, Xuanwu supported both powerful human cultivators and flourishing Soul Beast populations 1 6.

His human avatar also encountered the Dragon Tomb Minor Plane near Star Luo Continent. After recognizing his true identity, the remnant souls of several Dragon Kings entrusted him with pure-blooded dragon eggs. He brought them back to Xuanwu and raised the hatchlings in True Dragon Forest 32.

• True body: An immense divine tortoise whose shell supports the entire Xuanwu Continent, a landmass described as half the size of Douluo Continent 1.
• Turtle eyes: Golden light illuminates the deep sea when he awakens; his Xuanming eyes are also compared to cold moons 2 8.
• Serpent body: A colossal black serpent coiled along the tortoise’s back, with black-jade-like scales, scarlet eyes, and a crimson forked tongue 2.

Personality

Lu Changqing’s turtle personality is composed, patient, and calculating. He restrains his serpent side’s eagerness to attack and allows weaker opponents to become opportunities for his descendants. He considers personally dealing with the Soul Ancestor-level Tang San beneath him, instead using Lu Ye as his spokesman in the Sky Screen chat 3 8 13.

His serpent personality is aggressive, bloodthirsty, and impatient after prolonged confinement beneath the sea. Turtle and serpent are explicitly two personalities of Lu Changqing rather than separate companions; the serpent personality developed partly because he wanted someone to converse with during his long slumber 2 37 63.

He protects and invests in his descendants and chosen followers, preserving dying Demigods and supporting Jia Lin’s pursuit of godhood. This care coexists with imperial ambition and ruthlessness toward enemies: he intends to replace the Divine Realm’s authority over Douluo Star, exploits its succession system, and refuses Bibi Dong’s surrender before killing her 33 60 62 63 102.

His confidence does not make him dismiss every unknown threat. When the Sky Screen appears, he recognizes that its governing laws exceed the Divine Realm’s level and chooses to observe it before acting 4.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Approach to Douluo Continent

After awakening, Lu Changqing informs Lu Ye that Xuanwu is approaching Douluo Continent. He intends to challenge its established powers and demonstrate the superiority of Xuanwu’s technology and cultivation practices. The unexpected Sky Screen turns the approach into a public confrontation, with Lu Ye revealing that Xuanwu needs no fleet to transport its continent—the land itself is moving toward Douluo 1 3 5 8.

Defeat of Sea God Island

Lu Changqing allows the imperial advance force to confront Sea God Island rather than immediately destroying it himself. When Poseidon possesses Bo Saixi and attacks Lu Wudao, Lu Changqing manifests through his descendant, breaks Poseidon’s divine skill, destroys his Divine Sense, wounds his true body, and takes the Sea God Trident. He subsequently carries Xuanwu Continent into Sea God Island, reducing the island to ruins during the conquest 13 37 39 42.

Preparation for an Independent Divine Realm

With Sea God Island defeated, Lu Changqing inspects the eighteen preserved Demigods and advances his Human-Origin Clone’s godhood fusion. His longer-term plan is to annex Douluo Continent, claim Douluo Star’s position of Plane Master, elevate the planet, and establish his own Divine Realm. Rather than frightening the existing gods into abandoning the planet, he intends to induce them to pass down godhoods that he can harvest 60 62 63 64 78.

Spirit City and the Battle of Three Gods

Appearing openly above Spirit City in his Xuanming avatar, Lu Changqing cripples Qian Daoliu with one strike and exposes Bibi Dong’s consumption of Qian Xunji’s soul. His challenge prompts the Divine Realm to install Bibi Dong and Tang Chen as First-Level Gods, fulfilling his aim of drawing out newly inherited godhoods 87 89 94 95.

He fights both above the city while the Sky Screen broadcasts the battle. Using the stolen Sea God Trident and his defensive power, he overwhelms Tang Chen and withstands Bibi Dong’s attacks. After both opponents die, he declares that Douluo Continent no longer enjoys true gods’ protection, leaving the mortal campaign to Xuanwu’s forces as a means of tempering its Soul Masters 97 100 101 102.
