Nature
Great Thousand Worlds are vast cosmological realms containing their own heavens, earth, laws, living beings, and cultivation environments. Cultivators describe their number as “billions upon billions,” while the true total is uncountable. Nearby worlds may appear in another world's night sky as stationary stellar projections. 54 672
A Great Thousand World possesses an Origin, whose laws govern its internal environment. Its power is estimated to lie between that of a Half-step Golden Immortal and a Golden Immortal, but it has no intelligence and cannot focus that power against enemies. 447
Formation and Evolution
| Phase | Documented development | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gestation | A world forms over millions of years before Chaos begins to differentiate. | Gestating worlds are extremely rare and usually hidden in remote regions of the Void Universe. 672 |
| Yin-Yang Differentiation | Chaos separates into Yin and Yang. | This process may take from tens of thousands to tens of millions of years. 672 |
| Opening of Heaven and Earth | Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water erupt; the Five Elements emerge and establish the material foundation of the world. | The Earth Membrane forms during this stage. 677 |
| Birth of acquired laws | Postnatal laws begin appearing and nurture Spirit Roots, Spirit Seeds, heavenly treasures, and Pure Yang Magic Treasures. | Some treasures emerge in the Primordial or Ancient Eras; others do not appear until the world's end. 677 |
| Early innate life | Innate natural deities may arise from the world's law origins. | Most perish during the violent opening of heaven and earth or later due to flaws in their intelligence. 672 |
| Destruction | When the Origin can no longer sustain the Earth Membrane, the membrane weakens and may collapse, allowing Sky Demons to invade. | A destroyed Great Thousand World can be refined through exceptional means. 835 |
Structure and Natural Laws
Earth Membrane
The Earth Membrane is a pale golden primordial barrier born alongside a Great Thousand World. It encloses the world’s gang qi, sun, moon, and stars, preventing harmful outside entities from entering. 364
- It can block beings below the Heavenly Human realm, but cannot stop Heavenly Human-level invaders. 447
- Open worlds may have deliberately created passages through their Earth Membranes for cultivators and other beings to enter and leave. 364
- A world without a guardian becomes increasingly attractive to Heavenly Devils, which may migrate from distant regions toward it. 415
- If the world’s Origin weakens during an apocalyptic decline, the Earth Membrane receives less reinforcement and can eventually shatter. 835
Heaven, Sun, and Moon
Most Great Thousand Worlds follow a twelve-hour solar and lunar cycle: the sun and moon rise from the Sky-Supporting Divine Mountain in the east, travel westward, enter an illusory space, and re-emerge in the east. 560
- The size and position of the sun and moon vary with each world.
- Some worlds instead have cycles lasting 365 days, while others possess no sun or moon at all. 560
World Origin
The Origin is inseparable from a Great Thousand World’s laws and defenses.
- Altering the nature of a world’s Origin is beyond cultivators below the Golden Immortal realm. 415
- The Origin can support formations whose effects are nearly imperceptible to cultivators native to that world. 415
- The core origin space differs from world to world; the Nine Nether Great World’s Origin Space is notably more dangerous than that of Yuyu Heaven. 518
Relationship with Lesser Thousand Worlds
Lesser Thousand Worlds have incomplete laws and are generally less suitable for high-level cultivation than Great Thousand Worlds. Cultivators from the Lei Mansion World regard transfer to a Great Thousand World as entering an “Immortal Realm,” because the more complete laws offer greater opportunities for advancement. 212 219
- Newly forming Lesser Thousand Worlds allow cultivators to observe the gradual formation of laws directly. This can improve comprehension of spells, Daoist Magic, Immortal Methods, and the Great Dao. 212
- After surviving the second Heavenly Tribulation, a cultivator may open a Lesser Thousand World within their Primordial Spirit to evolve their own path. 617
- Certain profound mysteries required for fifth-tier and higher secret treasures cannot be generated merely by opening a Lesser Thousand World; they must come from newly born Great Thousand Worlds, cosmic merit, or similarly rare sources. 581
- A Great Thousand World can contain natural Lesser Thousand Worlds, such as the Ancient Tomb of Desolate Beasts in the Seven Immortals Great World. 317
Travel and Accessibility
Great Thousand Worlds are separated by immense distances, spacetime storms, and unstable void regions.
- Spacetime beacons allow reliable travel, but distant worlds can still require tens or hundreds of thousands of years to reach, even with such aids. 670
- Some worlds are hidden or semi-hidden: they may possess fixed spacetime beacons but remain outside ordinary spacetime, making them difficult to locate without prior knowledge. 783
- Other worlds are effectively inaccessible without extraordinary cultivation; the Big Dipper Great World can only be located directly by Fourth Tribulation Heavenly Sovereigns unless one uses designated teleportation arrays. 782
- Travel through the Void Universe exposes cultivators to spacetime storms, Void Sky Demons, chaotic regions, and the risk of being expelled from spacetime passages. 447 629

Notable Events
- Creation of humans in the Great Yuyu World — Yuyu Daoist created humanity after hundreds of experiments with powerful ancient species. The resulting “ancient hundred races” possessed stronger innate bodies or spells but generally faced greater cultivation difficulty than humans. 141
- Restoration of Great Yuyu’s Earth Membrane — The establishment of the Eastern Azure Heavenly Pole created a pale golden veil that spread across the world, expelled invading Sky Demons, and stabilized as a renewed Earth Membrane. 426 430
- Birth of a gestating world — Shi Xuan, Guo Qianxiu, and Cold Mirror Heavenly Sovereign cooperated to divide the benefits of a newly opening Great Thousand World, using its evolution as a training ground for their sects. 672 673
- Destruction and refinement of a world — After evacuating its surviving inhabitants, Shi Xuan allowed a dying Great Thousand World to collapse and refined it into the Fate Destroying Scroll. 834 835
