Background / History

Granny Yu first meets Shi Xuan and Chu Wan'er while temporarily overseeing Huilong Temple for Daoquanzi. Calling names mere forms of address, she asks them to call her “Granny Yu,” then agrees to arrange Chu Wan'er's teleportation to the Three Islands Sea Region. She recognizes Wan'er's temperament and talent and gives Shi Xuan cultivation advice. 166

Her true identity is the Yuqing Shenxiao Palace, a Heaven-Connecting Spirit Treasure left behind by Yuyu Daoist. She had guarded the Great Yuyu World for an immense span of time and possessed knowledge inherited from ancient figures including Yuyu Daoist, Qingyunzi, and Star River Dao Ancestor. 284 768

Although she had passed the Heavenly Human Five Decays, Granny Yu judged her original path inadequate. The Divine Firmament True Law could lead her thunder and lightning foundation toward either Destruction or Creation, but not both; she also discerned their connection to Time. She therefore chose to disperse her cultivation and reincarnate, seeking to create a supreme method containing the Dao Seeds of Destruction, Creation, and Time. 284
