Xie Lin covered his mouth, giggling uncontrollably.
He had good reason to suspect the "Celebrity" director had done it on purpose.
Director Sha sneered, reached out, and shook his hand.
"Director Diao Si, happy working with you!"
"..."
The scene instantly fell dead silent.
Then came a series of stifled snickers that sounded like farts.
Next, they began dividing into teams.
Fu Yunxi weakly raised his hand.
"Director, didn't you say there'd be breakfast?"
Across from him, a tall Alpha in camouflage was setting backpacks on the ground.
Hearing this, he shot Fu Yunxi a disdainful look.
"Tch! So pampered!"
"..."
He Jianing tugged on Fu Yunxi's arm.
"Yunxi, if the director said there'd be food, there will be. Let's wait a little."
In the Celebrity Team opposite them, someone who looked particularly familiar frowned.
"Seriously? Film Emperor Fu is an Alpha, and he can't even stand being a little hungry? Once the match starts, is he going to pass out from hunger if he can't find supplies?"
"Right? He looks weaker than those Omegas. So delicate. He won't drag us down, will he?"
"..."
Hit by that double blow, Fu Yunxi was left utterly speechless.
Once the teams were assigned, Director Diao raised his megaphone and glanced at his watch.
"I'll announce the rules. This match will begin in one hour and last seventy-two hours."
"The Celebrity Team will be the Blue Side, and the Amateur Team will be the Red Side. Whichever side gets the most people to the designated location alive wins."
With that, he pointed behind him.
"See that hilltop? That's the finish line. The buses will take the two teams to different starting points shortly, so you won't encounter each other early on."
"Now, if you have any questions, ask them quickly. You don't have much time to get ready."
Xie Lin raised his hand.
"We can steal supplies, right?"
Director Diao nodded with a smile.
"Yes!"
"Then I have no more questions."
A few snickers came from the other side.
"What a confident Omega."
Xie Lin shrugged, not giving a damn.
After a few more people asked inconsequential questions, the two directors each led a team onto a bus and headed for their starting points.
Xie Lin opened his mostly empty backpack. Inside were just one bottle of Mineral Water, one pack of Compressed Biscuits, one Lighter, one packet of Seasoning, one rope, and one box of Medical Supplies.
Xie Lin's eyes lit up. Just as he was about to speak, someone stood up near the front of the bus.
"Hi, everyone. My name is Zhong Rui. My suggestion is that we stick together once we arrive. A big group makes a big target, but even if we encounter the Red Team, they won't dare act rashly."
"Besides, in my experience, the Red Team is extremely confident in their abilities and will most likely operate individually. That'll give us an even better chance of winning."
Lu Ye scoffed.
"Are you sure we won't all get wiped out in one go?"
Xie Lin chimed in.
"We will. The whole lot of us!"
"Then screw the match. We might as well surrender."
Zhong Rui frowned, looking somewhat embarrassed.
"You're welcome to offer suggestions, but we've competed against the Red Team before. We definitely have more experience than you."
"Exactly. Zhong Rui led us to victory several times before."
Xie Lin smiled.
"How come I remember you only doing outdoor adventures before, nothing on the level of person-to-person combat? Are you sure the old methods will work?"
Seeing that the speaker was an almost dazzlingly beautiful Omega, Zhong Rui unconsciously softened his tone considerably, as though afraid of frightening him.
"You Omegas just need to stay behind us Alphas and Betas. We'll protect you."
Lu Ye's brows knitted.
Xie Lin snorted.
"No need!"
"Jeez, why can't you appreciate a kind offer? Zhong Rui is only looking out for you. You're a delicate Omega. Why try to play the hero?"
[Oho, our Tao Miaomiao is being called a delicate Omega again.]
[Yup. A! Delicate! Omega! Who nearly beat an A-Rank Alpha to a pulp!]
[These people definitely haven't watched Heartbeat Time Difference. If they had, they wouldn't say that.]
[Waiting for them to eat their words!]
[Wait, who are these two? Why are they talking to our Zhong Rui like that?]
[Didn't you see what the comments said? He's a super-powerful Omega. Just waiting for someone to eat their words!]
[Ha, how tough can someone from a dating show be? At most, he's not scared of bugs, hahahaha!]
Xie Lin closed his eyes, not bothering to engage with these idiots who couldn't think straight.
One look at those twenty people on the Red Team told him they were well trained. The Blue Team had no advantage over them at all.
Clustering together like that was simply asking to die faster.
Splitting up and using flanking maneuvers would give them a much better chance of winning.
But these people seemed to have all had their brains caught in a door...
Xie Lin sighed heavily.
"We're screwed!"
Lu Ye leaned closer and lowered his voice.
"Once we get there, we'll head out on our own."
Yue Lan turned around from the row ahead and pointed at herself and Yu Zhiwei, signaling for them to take the two of them along.
Wu Xinyou spoke up too.
"Take me with you."
Fu Yunxi had only taken a few bites of Compressed Biscuits. His stomach still felt empty, and he was in a terrible mood.
He forced down his anger.
"I agree with Zhong Rui. Xie Lin, don't deliberately go against everyone just to stand out. It won't do you any good."
"Get lost. Spare me the lecture."
"You!"
Fu Yunxi's face went green with anger, and He Jianing caught his arm.
"Forget it, Yunxi. Everyone has their own aspirations."
"Exactly!"
Xie Lin sneered.
"See? He Jianing is smarter than you."
The corner of He Jianing's mouth twitched. He certainly didn't think that was a compliment.
Zhou Shuyuan had been little more than background scenery all this time and was still hesitating over which group to join.
Lu Ye might be a Top Alpha, but with several burdensome Omegas in tow, he would probably get eliminated quickly.
At that thought, he nodded slightly.
"He Jianing, I'll go with you."
"Sure!"
He Jianing smiled, his eyes curving, but he still held a grudge over Zhou Shuyuan not giving him his love letter and planned to use this opportunity to screw him over.
A little over half an hour later, the bus reached the designated starting point.
The twenty-person team put on blue vests and Combat Helmets, then lined up together.
They certainly looked the part!
The director raised his megaphone and stressed the rules once more.
"The helmets and vests have Laser Receivers that will automatically determine whether you're eliminated or wounded when you're hit."
"If you feel you can't make it to the end, shout 'I give up' into your headset three times, then stay where you are. A helicopter will come and get you out."
"Got all that?"
Everyone shouted, fired up, "Got it!"
"Good. Starting the countdown! Ten, nine, eight..."
His gaze lingered on the eight Heartbeat guests he had brought with him, and the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.
"Good luck!"
Zhong Rui looked at Xie Lin and the other four standing together.
"Are you sure you won't come with us?"
"Positive!"
"All right."
Zhong Rui nodded.
"But if you run into danger, we'll come rescue you."
Xie Lin rolled his eyes. Not bothering to waste any more words, he headed into the cordoned-off dense forest with Lu Ye leading the way alongside him.
Fu Yunxi watched him go with a sorrowful expression, his eyes almost turning red.
Before he could speak, Xie Lin turned and pointed at him.
"Don't look at your daddy like that. I'll gouge your eyes out. You look like you're at a fucking funeral. Bad luck!"
Only after the five of them disappeared from view did he come back to his senses and let out a long sigh.
Someone beside him leaned over, looking utterly shocked.
"Seriously, are all the Omegas on your dating show this fierce?"
Before you continue
