Background / History

Relationship with Xie Lin

Fu Yunxi and Xie Lin had known each other for ten years, dated for three, and been engaged for one before their separation. Fu Yunxi kept the engagement private and did not defend Xie Lin when the public mocked him as a shameless admirer 4 11.

Their relationship repeatedly suffered because Fu Yunxi sided with his non-blood-related younger sister, Fu Yingying. After one argument, he ignored Xie Lin for two days, relenting only after Xie Lin bought Fu Yingying gifts and apologized. He commonly used trips to Lucif, Xie Lin’s favorite dessert shop, to smooth over their disputes 3.

Xie Lin also supported Fu Yunxi’s career behind the scenes. He drank with investors to obtain opportunities for him, including the role that earned Fu Yunxi his Best Actor award 6.

Fu Yunxi nevertheless called Lu Ye a homewrecker and claimed that Xie Lin was still his fiancé. Lu Ye struck him and overwhelmed him with higher-ranked pheromones 12.

Attempts at Reconciliation

Fu Yunxi’s efforts to win Xie Lin back combined apologies with continued possessiveness. He admitted that he had neglected Xie Lin, but also accused him of flirting with Lu Ye out of anger and warned that Lu Ye would eventually lose interest 27.

This answer made Xie Lin realize that Fu Yunxi was not the person he had remembered for ten years 82.

Engagement to Fu Yingying

As Xie Lin grew closer to Lu Ye, Fu Yunxi became less accommodating toward Fu Yingying. When she joined the dating show, he responded coldly, refused to indulge her request to change seats, and later told her to give the younger Xie Lin some leeway—a reversal of his former behavior 140 141.

After Fu Yingying’s reputation deteriorated, Xie Lin suggested that she become engaged to Fu Yunxi. She viewed the marriage as a way to secure her future and obtain the relationship she wanted 152.

Role in the Original Storyline

In the original novel read by the awakened Xie Lin, Fu Yunxi and He Jianing appeared on the dating show to promote their pairing before filming a drama together. They subsequently developed genuine feelings during filming, and Fu Yunxi marked He Jianing before the original Xie Lin learned what had happened 7.

That outcome does not describe the altered storyline. During the current events, He Jianing publicly denies being more than Fu Yunxi’s friend, and their cooperation becomes increasingly strained 37 54 70.

Personality

Fu Yunxi initially takes Xie Lin’s devotion for granted. He expects familiar gifts and coaxing to repair their arguments, resists accepting the breakup, and repeatedly interprets Xie Lin’s hostility as evidence of lingering affection 3 16 57.

He is highly sensitive to humiliation, especially suggestions that he is weak or lacks stamina. His competitiveness makes him susceptible to provocation: after Yue Lan questions his courage, he accepts Lu Ye’s cooking wager and loses 23 56.
