Lynn shaped John into a powerful, rule-bound hero while Vought tried to turn the boy into its weapon and used Lynn as leverage. By the end, John had begun his public debut as Homelander, but his threatening methods showed Lynn that his lessons had not given him ordinary empathy.
Lynn guided John through a battlefield test and helped him build public support while protecting his childhood and cultivating a young team at Vought. The stretch ends as John accompanies Lynn to meet a Japanese delegation opposing Vought’s Compound V expansion.
Lynn protected John and the other children from threats at Vanguard Camp, then took them to Japan to support Vought’s expansion. After the Kamo Clan attacked them, the children defeated its forces and Lynn led them into the compound.
Lynn protected the children from danger in Tokyo and at home while building a private refuge where they could use their powers freely. After John saved a subway train and Kevin’s goldfish defeated Charlie, Lynn secured control over Vanguard Camp, while mutated turtles emerged as a new threat.
John trained under Black Noir, then led the children in rescuing civilians from a magical beast and confronted Aurors who tried to erase their memories. At the Manor, the children grew closer as Buddy began speaking and John took on ordinary chores to save for a scarf for Lynn.
John and Lynn built a warm family life at the Long Island Estate while Vought reshaped the New Vanguard children and Stormfront targeted Lynn. The arc ended with Stormfront breaking Lynn’s neck in front of John.
John defeated Soldier Boy but spared him, while Lynn and the family returned home and left Soldier Boy to face his choices. Soldier Boy eventually came to the estate seeking food, where Lynn made him earn breakfast by clearing snow, and he joined the family at the table.
Benjamin struggled with his grief over Stormfront and left Lynn’s estate, but Lynn found him and revealed Edgar’s schemes, bringing him back to the family. Meanwhile, Vought used a new Compound V formula to win a military contract and began hunting magical creatures, while Edgar coerced Joseph’s allies and Joseph was killed by Pist.
Benjamin and Black Noir rescued the turtles from the Bigfoot Gang, but Splinter died protecting them. At Long Island Estate, the family took in the turtles and Joseph, uncovered Vought’s betrayal, and began exploring how Compound V might connect Supes to magic.
Lynn uncovered the Old Minister’s complicity with Vought and forced him to provide intelligence for an assault on the company’s network. Lynn’s household and allies struck Vought’s assets, while Lynn and John cleared a Virginia plant and headed for the Pentagon to confront Edgar.
John defeated Edgar, but Lynn died protecting him, and John took control of Vought and the North American wizards while searching for a way to revive him. Lynn’s repeated deaths showed him alternate versions of John, while the surviving household and John carried on in a world shaped by Lynn’s memory.
Marge and Duke brought the Original Compound V to Homelander, who revived Lynn after ten years in cryogenic sleep. As Lynn returned to Vought, Neuman recruited Frenchie and Butcher into a campaign against Homelander, while Lynn began planning revenge on the powers behind Vought’s overseas abuses.
A campaign to discredit Homelander escalated into a massacre at Godolkin University, where Neuman revealed her power and fought John. The arc ended with John facing a powerful blond clone as panic spread around the ruined campus.
John defeated Godolkin’s conspiracy with Lynn’s help, while Clark’s testimony and Lynn’s global broadcast exposed the forces behind Vought’s experiments. The broadcast shifted public debate toward Supes, and the story ended with John and Lynn confronting the surviving Mesmer as Benjamin and the turtles set out for Siberia.
Lynn and John uncovered Deadpool’s plan to bring alternate Homelanders to their world, then gathered original Compound V and prepared their family for the coming attack. The arc ended with Deadpool hunting Bombsight and Little Headliner after stabbing Bombsight.
