After reaching the labyrinth's second floor, the group repeated what they had done on the first.
Betty raised her hand to lock down the spatial shifts on this floor, while Radeus released another mass of shadow shikigami.
Dark shapes streamed out from beneath his feet, hugging the ground as they slipped into the surrounding passages to scout ahead and clear out monsters.
The group followed the path the shikigami opened up.
This time, however, things did not go so smoothly.
They had barely advanced before some of the shadow shikigami they had sent out began getting wiped out en masse.
That meant there were monsters ahead that were difficult to deal with.
"My shikigami have been taken out!"
Radeus stopped and turned to tell the others.
The entire party instantly went on alert.
Paul placed a hand on his weapon, Rujierd stepped half a pace forward, and Eris lowered her center of gravity, her eyes fixed intently ahead.
Up ahead, the shikigami's numbers kept plummeting.
Before long, heavy footsteps came from deep within the passage, each step making the ground tremble slightly.
The orb of light above their heads illuminated the way, and soon a towering figure appeared before them.
It was a minotaur with red hair.
It stood in the spacious chamber at the end of the passage, its massive body almost blocking the way forward, its reddish eyes fixed on the group and its face twisted into a savage expression.
"A red-haired monster?"
Radeus's first reaction upon seeing the minotaur was to think of an ominous fate in old age.
That hair color really made it hard not to let his thoughts wander.
If it really was a red-haired monster, Radeus would have to hurry up and decide on his last words.
