Background and History
Previous Life and Reincarnation
Before reincarnation, Radeus was Li Hongyun, a Chinese man born in the 2000s. He earned a doctorate in computer science and spent several years working on company projects. His demanding education and employment left him longing for a life of leisure 2 4 6.
He was reborn alongside Rudeus as one of Paul and Zenith’s twins. Within a few months, he understood the local language by listening to the adults around him. Although his family’s names sounded familiar, he could not recover the connection from his previous-life memories 2.
The brothers discovered that both had retained adult minds from another world. Radeus accepted Rudeus’s past as a Japanese shut-in without disgust and encouraged him to treat their new life as a fresh beginning 4 10.
Childhood in Buena Village
Radeus and Rudeus began studying magic together before receiving Roxy’s instruction. Radeus initially struggled with mana exhaustion and soon fell behind Rudeus in total reserves, but his physique, perception, and swordsmanship developed much faster 5 6 7 14.
His unusual healing prompted Roxy to insist on secrecy. Paul, Zenith, Lilia, and the brothers agreed to conceal its resurrection capabilities 16.
Radeus also helped Rudeus overcome his fear of leaving the house by taking his hand and leading him outside. The brothers later protected Sylphiette from bullies, earning Paul’s approval once they explained the incident 18 22 23.
Roa and House Boreas
Rudeus maneuvered Paul into sending Radeus with him to Roa, disrupting Radeus’s plans to remain at home and relax. There, Radeus trained under Ghislaine, became a Sword Saint, and developed an increasingly elaborate fighting style 32 33 42 43.
Philip proposed using the brothers to help reclaim control of House Boreas. Radeus identified the broader opportunity: Rudeus could marry Eris while he pursued leadership of House Notos. He agreed to cooperate, with Rudeus pledging his support 52.
At nine, Radeus returned to Buena Village after Paul requested help with increasingly numerous monsters. Before the subsequent separation of the family, he distributed protective bracelets to Aisha, Norn, Paul, Zenith, and Lilia 60 61 64.
Separation and the Search for Family
After being teleported to the Demon Continent, Radeus contracted with Tia and acquired Betty as a spirit through Tia’s concealed contract. Restored telepathic contact allowed him to locate Rudeus and reunite with him, Eris, and Rujierd 72 78 80 81.
The reunited party set out to return to the Central Continent and find their missing relatives. Radeus could sense the approximate directions of the shadows he had distributed and confirm that their bearers remained alive, but not determine their exact locations 81 95.
The journey brought him back into contact with Paul in Milishion and Aisha in the Shirone capital. He later helped rescue Zenith from the labyrinth, remaining behind with Rudeus when Hitogami revived the Hydra guarding her 151 164 187.
Appearance
- Eyes: Deep blue or azure, identified with his Six Eyes 3 58.
- Resemblance: Nearly identical to Rudeus apart from eye color and, during early childhood, height 21 50.
- Height: Already 160 centimeters tall at nine, giving him the appearance of an adolescent 61.
- Physique: Exceptionally strong from infancy; develops a highly defined body through adaptation-assisted combat 4 114.
- Hair: Turns completely snow-white when mana fully merges with his cells during the Orsted battle 209.
Personality
Radeus is sarcastic, theatrical, and fond of provoking Rudeus. He frequently uses references from games, anime, and manga, and turns even serious encounters into opportunities to show off. Tossing Rudeus into the air becomes a recurring form of teasing 4 7 43 115.
His desire to avoid work is genuine. He argues that the brothers should enjoy childhood rather than constantly chase strength, and later gets caught lying in bed after claiming monster hunting has kept him busy. Philip interprets his demeanor as concealed ambition, but the later account explicitly rejects Philip’s reading of him 30 52 66.
Despite this laziness, Radeus enjoys challenging combat and can be dangerously confident in his healing. He deliberately takes Randolph’s strongest attack without reinforcing his body and eagerly pursues Red Dragons despite Rujierd’s warning 120 195.
His strongest commitment is to his family. He reassures Rudeus about his past, helps him confront his fears, and treats protecting his younger siblings as an older brother’s responsibility. During the Orsted battle, that protectiveness develops into terror and rage when Rudeus is cut in half, followed by self-reproach when Radeus recognizes the cost of his own insistence on winning 10 18 64 205 212.
Abilities and Skills
Six Eyes
- All-directional perception: Detects surrounding structures and objects without direct sight; in infancy, its range is roughly a dozen meters and walls do not obstruct it 2.
- Technique analysis: Observes strength application, battle aura, and mana closely enough to reproduce techniques such as Sound Sword and Sword of Light 14 42.
- Mana regulation: Reduces healing expenditure to practically zero and permits control over mana flowing inside another person’s body 16.
- Limits: Mana-rich mist can conceal other magical activity from him. Copying Rudeus’s Mana Armor does not reproduce the quality or reserves supporting the original 29 188.
Uncapped Physique and Adaptation
- Physical growth: His body continues strengthening even without deliberate training; sustained combat accelerates that growth 112.
- Exceptional movement: Can stop and change direction abruptly enough to escape Randolph’s Bewitching Sword 119.
- Adaptation training: Uses Dharma Wheels to strengthen his body during monster battles and improve his responses to unfamiliar problems 112 113.
- Cellular evolution: Repeated exposure to Orsted’s attacks eventually produces complete integration of mana and flesh 209.
- Recognition: Orsted acknowledges his physical strength and states that no stronger physical creature will appear in the world 210.
Healing and Resurrection
- Resurrection window: Revives organisms dead for no more than four hours; a long-dead insect fails the test 16.
- Restoration: Repairs severed limbs, cures illness, clears negative effects, and restores revived organisms to peak condition 16.
- Automatic recovery: His Healing Spell Formation supports rapid regeneration from severe injuries. He later revives after being cleaved in two 117 205.
- Longevity: Claims that the formation can keep him alive and in his prime for ten thousand years; this is his stated expectation, not an observed lifespan 72.
- Limits: Mahoraga’s Sword of Extermination suppresses the formation and slows recovery. His negligible mana expenditure does not make every defensive ability invulnerable 74 187.
Radeus suspects that his healing is an enhanced form of Reverse Cursed Technique rather than an ordinary property of the world’s healing magic 16.
Swordsmanship
- Three-style foundation: Reaches Advanced rank in all Three Sword Styles, but initially remains substantially less likely than Paul to win a spar despite sharing his formal rank 17 26.
- Sword of Light: Learns Ghislaine’s technique through observation and improves its speed through weighted training 42 47.
- Sword Dance: Uses misleadingly flashy swordplay, evasive movement, and blinding Light Magic before delivering consecutive Swords of Light 87.
- Piercing Rock: Modifies Sword of Light into a concentrated thrust, rotating his wrist twenty times per second and vibrating the blade to penetrate a Rock Giant’s internal Magic Stone 113.
- Supreme Heavenly Sword: Releases a seven-kilometer slash and later blocks Eris’s attacks with a fragile branch without moving his feet 114 132.
Ten Shadows: Modified and Mahoraga
- Shadow movement: Initially travels no farther than ten meters through shadows; living occupants cannot remain inside indefinitely because they suffocate 46.
- Storage and transport: Stores monster corpses in his shadow and uses shikigami, including Shadow Wolves, during travel 81.
- Protective shadows: Distributed shadows can defend their bearers or escape with them; their continued presence lets him confirm that the bearers are alive 95.
- Shared connection: He and Rudeus can track one another through their shared Ten Shadows Technique, though doing so requires effort 110.
- Lending adaptation: Places miniature Mahoragas in Rudeus’s and Eris’s shadows to help them master unfamiliar abilities 112 131.
- Adaptation limit: Mahoraga can be destroyed before its wheels turn, as Orsted demonstrates with the Godblade 212.
Malevolent Shrine: Modified
- Dismantle and Cleave: Possess different defensive requirements; completely blocking Dismantle requires a method without mana or battle aura 59.
- Furnace: Changes his mana attribute to fire, strengthens fire magic, and grants flame control 59.
- Open: Consumes other flames as fuel, making opposing fire magic strengthen rather than stop it 59.
- Domain attacks: Mixes Dismantle, Cleave, and World-Cutting Slash within its domain 59.
- Conceptual Slash: Erases trees from existence in testing, but leaves traces and has no established activation probability 60.
- Collateral risk: Cannot safely deploy his domain amid a sufficiently crowded allied battlefield; even Six Eyes and continuous brain repair cannot guarantee precise targeting 68.
Limitless: Modified
- Defensive barrier: Prevents ordinary training attacks and a smuggler’s kick from reaching his body 133 138.
- Teleportation: Allows near-costless, immediate spatial travel anywhere within Six Eyes’ perceptual range and can transport another person 121.
- Original teleportation limit: This movement does not itself exchange his position with an enemy. He later demonstrates a separate swapping capability in the Orsted battle 121 212.
- Unlimited Void: First manifests after eight consecutive Black Flashes sharpen his understanding of the technique 206.
- Limits: Its original instructions provide almost no guidance beyond its connection to time and space. The Hitogami-revived Hydra penetrates its defense 76 187.
Magic and Combat Coordination
- Elemental magic: Uses Saint-rank water magic alongside earth, wind, ice, fire, and combination spells 17 19 29 68.
- Practical research: Develops Flight Magic and Light Magic with Rudeus after receiving his blessing 60 65.
- Explosion Magic: Destroys a Rock Worm swarm’s source with a flaming-arrow attack, though Rudeus condemns the danger to their companions 98.
- Telepathy: Exchanges thoughts privately with Rudeus; their early connection sometimes leaks unintended thoughts 3 9 13.
- Black Flash: Uses the attack both independently and in coordinated assaults with Rudeus 58 212.
- Position swapping: Uses claps to coordinate sudden exchanges of position, then reveals that clapping is not necessary. Orsted can nevertheless detect and counter the swaps 212.
- Shadow Royal Court: Activates this domain against Orsted; its effects are not established in the supplied account 212.
Equipment and Items
- Greed Staff-Sword — A roughly 1.6-meter weapon forged by a dwarven master smith from materials gathered by House Boreas. Its staff form amplifies magic; adding mana transforms it into a red sword that devours and stores mana. Betty sleeps in its Magic Stone 67 78.
- Laxus’s Bone Ring — A plain white-bone relic received after defeating Randolph. Its curse counters soul-based beings, possession, illusions, and mind control 121.
- Shadow Bracelets — Protective charms distributed to his family. Their associated shadows assist with protection and provide a means of tracking separated relatives 61 64 81 95.
- Training weights and heavy iron sword — Obtained during his stay in Roa to improve his Sword of Light 47.
Relationships
- Rudeus Greyrat — Younger twin brother, fellow reincarnator, closest friend, and combat partner. Their constant mockery coexists with wholehearted support when either makes a serious decision 4 10 52 212.
- Paul Greyrat — Father and early swordsmanship teacher. Radeus initially struggles to defeat him despite matching his rank, later surpasses him, and frequently challenges his paternal authority 14 26 62 154.
- Zenith Greyrat — Mother. Helps protect the secret of his healing; Radeus later assists in her labyrinth rescue 2 16 187.
- Aisha and Norn Greyrat — Younger sisters whom he openly dotes on and deliberately treats equally. He rescues Aisha from guards in Shirone 61 64 164.
- Lilia — Family maid and one of the adults entrusted with his healing secret. Receives one of his protective bracelets 2 16 64.
- Roxy — Childhood magic teacher. Warns the family to conceal his resurrection ability and certifies him as a Saint-rank water magician 16 19.
- Ghislaine — Respected swordsmanship teacher. Her demonstration enables his Sword Saint breakthrough; he later defends her against her brother Gyes’s treatment 42 142.
- Eris — Traveling companion and swordsmanship student who considers him her second teacher after Ghislaine. He teaches her his movement style and lends her a Dharma Wheel to aid her progress 80 87 131.
- Sylphiette — Childhood friend rescued from bullies by the brothers. Watches their early sparring and becomes a target of Radeus’s teasing through his fabricated engagement story 22 29 66.
- Philip Boreas Greyrat — Employer and prospective political ally. Plans to use the brothers’ strength and family connections to gain control of Houses Boreas and Notos 52.
- Tia — Goddess bound to him by permanent contract. Initially attempts to escape the implications of his longevity by having Mahoragas kill him; formal enforcement later prohibits harming him directly or indirectly 72 73 74.
- Betty — Spirit bound to him through Tia’s hidden contract. Repairs and analyzes magic circles and accompanies him on his travels 78 177.
- Rujierd — Traveling companion who protects the younger party members and witnesses Radeus’s swordsmanship 81 87.
- Randolph Marianne — Acquaintance and defeated challenger. Gives Radeus Laxus’s Bone Ring after losing their duel 114 120 121.
- Orsted — Opponent whose strength forces repeated breakthroughs. Radeus abandons his intention to kill him after learning about his time loops, but continues trying to defeat him 196 205 209 210 212.
