The instant the explosion rang out, Paul rushed in, his face tense, thinking monsters had attacked the house.
"What happened?"
As soon as Paul entered, he saw dust drifting through the air, followed by an unobstructed view of the endless sky.
The wall that had stood there was gone, leaving only Rudeus and Radeus standing nearby.
"Wh-what is this?"
Paul stared blankly at it all, unable to keep himself from speaking.
"Rad, Rudeus! Are you all right?" Zenith and Lilia arrived right afterward.
Zenith hurried over to Rudeus and Rad and gathered both children into her arms, while Paul walked over to where the window had been to investigate.
"Was it a monster attack? But around here..."
Holding the two children, Zenith noticed the magic book on the floor. It lay open to the page on Water Cannon.
Zenith let go of Rad and Rudeus, picked up the book that had fallen to the floor, and made a puzzled sound.
"Oh?"
Then her expression did a complete about-face. An unreadable smile appeared on Zenith's face as she addressed Rad and Rudeus.
"Rad, Rudeus, you didn't happen to read what was written in this book aloud, did you?"
Looking at Zenith's face, Rudeus felt a little frightened.
Scary. What's going on? Is it taboo for children in this world to use magic?
Are we going to be burned at the stake?
Just then, Radeus stepped in front of Rudeus and gave Paul and Zenith an apologetic smile.
"Sorry, Mom, Dad. I accidentally read it aloud. Rudeus was only watching."
Seeing Radeus standing in front of him stirred something in Rudeus's heart. His mouth opened and closed before he finally steeled himself.
"No, Father, Mother! I was the one who accidentally read it aloud. My brother had nothing to do with it!"
This time, it was Radeus's turn to look at Rudeus in surprise.
Is this the beauty of brotherly love?
Looks like I should send Rudeus flying a little less often from now on. I'll leave him alone for about three days a month!
You'd better be grateful for my mercy!
At their words, Zenith and Paul were first surprised, then delighted. Zenith even jumped for joy.
"Did you hear that, darling? Our children are geniuses!"
Paul took the book and glanced at it. Seeing the Intermediate Rank Magic Water Cannon, he could hardly believe it.
"Seriously? This is Intermediate Rank Magic. The children are only three..."
Before Paul could finish, Zenith took his hands and began bouncing up and down.
"Let's hire a magic teacher to teach Rad and Rudeus right now!"
"Rad and Rudeus will definitely become great mages renowned throughout the world!"
Seeing their reactions, Radeus and Rudeus both inwardly sighed in relief. Apparently, this wasn't a bad thing!
Then Paul suddenly objected and began arguing with Zenith.
"Didn't we agree that if we had a boy, he'd learn swordsmanship from me?"
"But look, the children can already use Intermediate Rank Magic at this age. We can't waste their talent!"
Paul hesitated, but still stood firm.
"That doesn't mean you can go back on your word. The children have to become swordsmen! At least one of them has to!"
While the two were locked in their argument, Lilia tidied up the mess nearby, then spoke calmly.
"How about having the two young masters study magic in the morning and swordsmanship in the afternoon?"
At Lilia's suggestion, the two stopped arguing and embraced again, looking utterly lovey-dovey.
"You're right. Let's do that!"
Paul spoke gently as he looked at Zenith.
Impressive. No penalty for switching faces!
Looking at their parents, Radeus and Rudeus could only offer their silent commentary.
Several days passed like this. Paul and the others seemed to have found a teacher to teach the two of them magic. Apparently, the teacher was an adventurer, and quite powerful.
"Hey, Father, what do you think our teacher will be like?"
Held in Paul's arms, Rudeus spoke with excitement written all over his face.
He could hardly wait to meet his magic teacher. Surely it would be a mature, composed, distinguished magic-user?
"Probably someone middle-aged or elderly who's spent years studying magic, with a white beard-the sort of person who looks just like a magician."
Paul answered after thinking for a moment.
Radeus was held in his mother Zenith's arms, looking equally excited.
Maybe it'll be someone cool like the Jewel Mage or a Clock Tower Lord!
Failing that, I could just about accept someone like Kiritsugu Emiya.
What's this Jewel Mage or Clock Tower Lord you're talking about?
Hearing Radeus's thoughts, Rudeus took the initiative to ask him.
Huh? You've never seen the Type-Moon series? Radeus looked shocked.
Seriously, there are people who haven't seen Type-Moon?
Man, you've missed out on a whole series of masterpieces!
Radeus looked at Rudeus with a pitying expression.
Before long, a girl in a brown adventurer's robe stood before them.
Upon seeing them, the girl removed her tall black hat, revealing her godlike beauty.
She had long blue hair and pale blue eyes like a shallow azure sea beneath the moonlight. Her delicate face was paired with a small, childlike body, and she held a pure white magic staff.
An outright little-girl mage!
She looked at them and spoke slowly, her voice soft and clear.
"Hello, I'm Roxy Migurdia. It's a pleasure to meet you!"
Wh-what's going on?
Wasn't it supposed to be an old man or something? No matter how you look at her, this girl is underage!
The four of them simply stared blankly at Roxy, remaining silent for a long time.
A little embarrassed by their continued staring, Roxy tilted her head slightly and blinked at them, a faint blush appearing on her face.
C-cute!
A goddess!
Those were Radeus's and Rudeus's thoughts.
After a while, Paul finally came to his senses and spoke.
"A-are you the tutor who accepted our invitation?"
"You're really, um..." Looking at the petite Roxy before her, Zenith did not know how to describe her.
"You're so small!"
With no emotional intelligence whatsoever, Rudeus blurted it out without thinking!
At Rudeus's words, Roxy frowned, looking displeased.
"I don't want to hear that from you!"
Nothing could have been more humiliating than being called small by a three-year-old!
Is that a sore spot for her? But I don't think I said anything about her chest, did I?
Rudeus glanced at Roxy's completely flat chest.
Ha! You really have a way with words! Radeus teased Rudeus.
Sh-shut up!
Rudeus knew he had said the wrong thing just now.
Roxy looked around, then asked Paul and Zenith a question.
"May I ask which two are the students I'll be teaching?"
At that, Zenith perked up. She took Rudeus into her arms as well and pressed her face against her two adorable sons, a happy smile on her face.
"Ah, these two adorable children of mine!"
Radeus and Rudeus obligingly gave Roxy sweet smiles.
"Huh?!!!"
Looking at the two children in Zenith's arms, Roxy let out a bewildered cry, her face full of astonishment.
