Ashley stiffened in fright, hurriedly stood up, and strode to the door. Only after making sure it was shut tight did she lower her voice and snap viciously:
"Fuck! Keep your voice down! Do you want to die? No one can know Translucent is dead!"
She composed herself, then glared at Solomon again and asked through gritted teeth:
"Why the hell are you so determined to go to Godolkin University? Is it just because of that weird fetish of yours for beating up Supes?!"
Solomon spread his hands and nodded without a trace of embarrassment:
"That's right. Either you find a few Supes for me to beat up, or I'll go find them at Godolkin University myself. Take your pick."
Ashley instantly flew into a rage, planted her hands on her hips, and shouted viciously:
"Fuck! Fuck! You can't just do whatever you want! This is Vought International, not somewhere you can run wild!"
Unbothered, Solomon strolled over to the couch, sat down, and crossed his legs, his tone arrogant:
"I know this is Vought, but I'm Translucent, one of the Seven. I'll do whatever I want. You have two choices: bring me some Supes, or I'll head to Godolkin University right now. The consequences are on you."
Ashley glared at Solomon, trembling with anger, but there was nothing she could do.
She hesitated for a long time before finally giving in. Turning back to her desk, she rummaged around, took out several lists of Supe names, and looked through them to make her selection.
Finally, she picked up the phone, dialed a number, and ordered stiffly:
"Have Blindspot come to the training room."
A flicker of surprise crossed Solomon's eyes when he heard the alias Blindspot.
That name sounds familiar. Wasn't he the guy whose big mouth got him killed when Homelander slapped both sides of his head?
Blindspot's abilities were actually quite impressive. Not only did he have super hearing, but his combat skills were also formidable. Most importantly, his powers naturally countered invisibility.
Blindspot was blind to begin with, so Solomon's invisibility meant absolutely nothing to him.
His super hearing, however, was extraordinarily keen. He could even use echolocation to pinpoint his targets.
In other words, even if Solomon turned invisible, Blindspot could use sound to determine his exact location.
Combined with Blindspot's considerable combat skills, Solomon knew full well that this guy really would be difficult to deal with.
Ashley did this on purpose, didn't she!
She had so many Supes to choose from, yet she specifically picked Blindspot, whose powers counter mine. Is she trying to embarrass me?
A cold glint flashed in Solomon's eyes, and an amused smile curled his lips.
Fine. Since she wants to make things difficult for me, let's see who ends up embarrassed!
Ashley hung up, stood, and tipped her chin at Solomon, her tone carrying a hint of provocation:
"Come with me to the training room. I've found a Supe, a very powerful Supe-Blindspot. He graduated from Godolkin University and is also one of the candidates for the Seven. Remember, until you beat him, you can't ask me for information on anyone else, and you're not allowed to go to Godolkin University!"
Solomon followed leisurely behind Ashley, his smile undiminished, and asked softly:
"And what if I beat him?"
Ashley snorted coldly. In her eyes, Solomon was just a guy who could turn invisible and had somewhat tougher defenses. His offensive power was nothing special.
She had deliberately chosen Blindspot because she knew his abilities countered invisibility. Even if Blindspot couldn't break through Solomon's defenses, Solomon wouldn't be able to beat him either. At most, both would end up hurt.
"If you can beat him, I'll provide you with a Supe to fight every day from now on."
Ashley gritted her teeth, unable to resist adding a complaint,
"Damn battle maniac!"
Solomon raised an eyebrow, delighted, and immediately agreed without hesitation:
"It's a deal!"
The two made their way to Vought Tower's training room. As soon as they pushed open the door, they saw a man in a silver bodysuit, his eyes covered by a silver blindfold, practicing inside.
He held a javelin in his hand. With a swing of his arm, it shot out like an arrow loosed from a bow, struck a distant training dummy dead-on, and pierced straight through it with astonishing force.
At the sound of the door opening, the man's ears twitched slightly. He immediately stopped what he was doing and walked toward Solomon and Ashley, following the sound.
"Translucent! It's such a pleasure to see you!"
He offered Solomon a perfunctory greeting without the slightest sincerity in his voice, then turned toward Ashley and asked bluntly:
"Miss Ashley, when can I finally... you know."
Solomon raised an eyebrow slightly and sneered inwardly. This guy didn't take him seriously at all. He was far too arrogant.
No wonder he had said something like, "With super hearing, you don't need super sight." Solomon had thought he was simply tactless and unable to watch his mouth. As it turned out, he genuinely looked down on everyone and was arrogant to the bone.
Ashley instinctively glanced at Solomon and coughed twice, trying to ease the tension:
"Ahem, we'll discuss that another time. There aren't any openings in the Seven right now. We called you here because Translucent-he wants to personally test the results of your training."
Blindspot gave a disdainful snort and pointed at Solomon, making no attempt to hide the mockery in his voice:
"Him? Sorry, but as I recall, Translucent's role in the Seven is supposed to be covert infiltration and intelligence gathering, right? Head-on combat doesn't seem to be your strong suit, does it?"
What the fuck!
Solomon cursed inwardly. A moment ago, the guy had merely disregarded him. Now he was openly mocking him!
If he stayed silent any longer, wouldn't this guy look down on him completely, leaving him unable to hold his head high at Vought?
"Young man, having a personality is a good thing, but don't get too full of yourself."
Solomon stepped forward, his voice icy and carrying a measure of pressure,
"You think you're so good? Come on, give it a try. I'll have you crying and screaming to crawl back into your mother's womb."
Blindspot spread his hands. Although he apologized, there wasn't a trace of remorse on his face. Instead, he grew even more brazen:
"Sorry, I didn't mean to belittle you. It's just that I'm an all-around combat superhero. Your little invisible hide-and-seek tricks are completely useless against me. You know, with super hearing, you don't need super sight!"
He proudly pointed at his ears and, sounding thoroughly pleased with himself, delivered that classic, arrogant line word by word.
Solomon raised an eyebrow. Rather than getting angry, he revealed a meaningful smile:
"Wow. You should be grateful I'm the one here today. Otherwise, you'd already be a dead man. Am I right, Ashley?"
Ashley clearly hadn't yet realized just how offensive those words would sound to certain people. Her face filled with confusion, and she instinctively asked:
"What?"
