Yūki appeared to be on the verge of defeat against Chazz Princeton, whose Armed Dragons had overwhelming attack power and a monster-destroying effect. As the crowd and Chazz’s supporters celebrated, Yūki stayed calm, making Chazz suspect the last face-down card might turn the duel around.
Yūki drew [Lava Golem] and used it to Tribute Chazz Princeton’s two Armed Dragons, overturning Chazz’s seemingly overwhelming advantage. The summon began transforming the Open-Air Dueling Field into a sea of lava and fire.
Yūki summoned Lava Golem, which Tributed Chazz Princeton’s Armed Dragons and trapped Chazz in an iron cage. Seto Kaiba watched the broadcast and recognized Yūki as the boy Mokuba had said commanded Marik’s monsters.
Yūki used Monster Reborn to revive Witch of the Black Forest, then Tributed her to Special Summon a second Silent Magician. Chazz remained trapped inside Lava Golem’s cage, expecting to survive until his next turn and use the monster against Yūki.
Yūki boosted Silent Magician’s ATK to 3,000, then activated Silent Magic Blast to fill both players’ hands to six cards. Silent Magician rose to 4,000 ATK, but Chazz drew five cards and believed he could survive her attack and turn the duel around on his next turn.
Yūki used Change of Heart to take back the Lava Golem he had forced onto Chazz’s field, then defeated Chazz with a direct attack from Silent Magician. Chazz’s Life Points fell to zero, leaving him sprawled at the edge of the arena.
Yūki defeated Chazz Princeton in a single devastating turn, ruining the Manjome brothers’ expensive live-broadcast publicity campaign. Chazz was left in shock while Yūki credited his victory to a stronger bond with his Deck.
Yūki won the match against Chazz Princeton, prompting the arena to celebrate while Principal Ichise mourned his lost wager. When Chazz’s brothers berated him for losing, Yūki intervened and praised Chazz’s strength, leaving him stunned.
After Chazz lost his duel to Yūki, Jaden, Asuka, Bastion, and Zane defended his performance against his brothers’ scorn. When his brothers ordered him to leave Duel Academy and return to the family, Chazz refused.
Chazz Princeton refused to leave Duel Academy after losing to Fujiwara Yūki, and Yūki stopped his older brothers from forcing him away by challenging them to a duel. Chosaku Manjome and Shoji Manjome fled rather than face Yūki, leaving Chazz determined to stay and defeat him someday.
After defeating Chazz Princeton, Yūki celebrated his rewards and considered how to use his Spellcaster Deck. At the Friendly Match closing ceremony, Jaden and Bastion learned that the special grand prize would be a kiss from Duel Academy’s “Miss Duel Academy.”
Principal Ichise fled Duel Academy to avoid the special grand prize, leaving Principal Samejima to accept it alone. The prize turned out to be a kiss from Auntie Tami, which Samejima welcomed while Yūki watched in disbelief.
After the Friendly Match, Yūki anticipated the Seven Stars’ arrival as a chance to obtain powerful cards, but Principal Samejima summoned him with news from Kaiba Corporation. The chapter ended with Yūki realizing the invitation to test a new Virtual Duelist System fulfilled Mokuba Kaiba’s earlier promise.
Yūki realized the Kaiba Corporation’s Virtual Duelist System might let him unlock Archetype Packs by beating AI versions of famous duelists, so he eagerly accepted an invitation to test it. A futuristic antigravity jet picked him up at Duel Academy and carried him toward Kaiba Corporation Headquarters, where Mokuba was waiting.
Yūki arrived at Kaiba Corporation, where Mokuba teased him about his brutal televised duel against Chazz before escorting him to the company’s new system testing facility. The chapter left Yūki inspecting the enormous, futuristic facility.
Mokuba Kaiba gave Yūki a prototype glove that transformed into a Duel Disk, then prepared him for a test at Kaiba Corporation’s Venue Zero. Seto Kaiba chose Marik’s data as Yūki’s first opponent because Yūki specialized in Lava Golem.
Seto Kaiba ordered the virtual dueling system to recreate Marik Ishtar, insisting it had to withstand Marik’s Deck before it could reproduce Yugi’s power. During the first live test, Yūki watched the system materialize a sinister opponent and realized it was Dark Marik.
Yūki faced a Dark Marik AI in the Kaiba Corporation’s first live-person Dueling Field test, while Seto Kaiba refused Mokuba’s concerns about the dangerous Psychic Energy levels. After realizing victory might unlock a God Card Archetype Pack, Yūki lost his apprehension and prepared to duel.
Yūki’s Spirit Partners warned him that Dark Marik’s AI carried a chaotic, unnatural aura, and Yūki realized it had been assembled from psychic energy and code. He chose his Evil HERO Deck over his risky Exchange of the Spirit Deck, while Dark Marik activated his Duel Disk and declared the Shadow Game begun.
Dark Marik began the duel against Yūki by using Graceful Charity to stock his Graveyard and building a heavily defended field with Card of Safe Return. Yūki prepared to face the strategy with his Evil HERO Deck while Seto and Mokuba Kaiba watched from above.
