Thinking back, how was asking his sister-in-law a question like that any different from acting like a creep?
Shinobu Kocho gave a soft snort, then nodded.
Tetsu no Sosuke's mouth twitched. "I make you something, and now you're feeling superior? What are you snorting about? It wasn't even for you..."
Shinobu Kocho ignored him. For a moment, neither of them seemed to have anything else to say.
Ubuyashiki Amane had already asked everything there was to ask about Kanae's condition. Shinobu Kocho had listened in and heard it all clearly.
"If there's nothing else, I'll be going."
"Mm." Tetsu no Sosuke nodded. "What you're doing now is dangerous. Be careful."
Shinobu Kocho looked at Tetsu no Sosuke in surprise, then nodded.
Shinobu Kocho had barely left when Ubuyashiki Amane arrived.
"He's awake."
She turned to lead the way without asking where Shinobu Kocho had gone.
Tetsu no Sosuke smiled and followed her into another room.
Inside, Ubuyashiki Kagaya sat slumped on the tatami, holding a hand warmer. He gave a rueful smile. "My body gets worse by the day."
Tetsu no Sosuke said nothing.
If words of comfort could help, he wouldn't be needed to offer them.
And pity... would Ubuyashiki Kagaya want anything like that?
After a brief silence, Ubuyashiki Kagaya said, "That Demon... I know of her. I didn't expect you to catch her attention too. Unfortunately, I'm afraid there's no longer any point in keeping the old site."
They certainly hadn't kept the old site for appearances.
They had hoped it would draw an Upper Moon, or even Kibutsuji Muzan, there.
Of course, they hadn't expected to kill him outright.
But if he appeared, they would have a trail to follow.
Now, though, even Tamayo knew she could use that place to catch Tetsu no Sosuke's attention.
