Appearance
Nana initially appears to be about fifteen, with ordinary features and a tall, slender build. Her later appearances emphasize the composure she develops through leadership 48 226.
- Hair: Dark red, usually tied into a neat ponytail 48 138.
- Skin: Wheat-colored, with a healthy luster 48 226.
- Early clothing: A hooded black robe worn during her service as a Holy Servant 48.
- Nervous habits: Twists her clothing or hands together and smooths stray hair beside her ear 143 161.
Personality
Nana’s loyalty to Lu Ren begins with gratitude for freeing her and releasing her parents’ souls. She voluntarily calls him “Master” and regards following him as a lifelong commitment. Her desire to repay him initially makes her reluctant to request help: she conceals an attack by the Xishui Alliance because she fears appearing useless or becoming a burden 48 71 143.
Her experience of coercion gives her particular sympathy for children ostracized because of their Martial Souls. She proposes sheltering them, rescues abandoned children personally, and teaches them with patience. Lu Ren chooses her to lead the Spirit Pagoda because she is gentle without being weak, principled, and genuinely concerned with Soul Masters’ welfare rather than personal power 154 158 160 161.
Although initially intimidated by the imperial court, Nana becomes a composed administrator capable of assessing political risks. She recognizes that Xu Tianran may eventually seek control over the Spirit Pagoda’s technology. Her compassion does not extend to tolerating armed resistance: after the takeover of Shrek Academy, she threatens would-be restorationists and later orders the remaining openly hostile holdouts killed 161 166 227 230.
History
Coercion and rescue
While studying at the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy, Nana was forced to serve a Holy Spirit Cult branch altar. The cult held her parents’ souls hostage, preventing her from fleeing, seeking assistance, or revealing her circumstances. She attended classes by day and returned to the branch at night 49.
Lu Ren destroyed the branch and purified the imprisoned souls, including those of her parents. Nana led the freed Holy Servants in thanking him and pledging lifelong service. She then recognized him as the academy student famous for seventy-eight consecutive arena victories 48.
With nowhere safe to go, Nana and eight other survivors asked to follow him. Lu Ren agreed to conceal their survival, cover her absence from the academy, and leave the Holy Spirit Cult believing they had died in the attack 49.
Building the Mingdu organization
Lu Ren placed Nana in charge of the survivors and tasked them with establishing an intelligence network in Mingdu. He supplied Gold Soul Coins and a Communication Soul Tool for reports and emergencies 50.
The organization expanded with his funding and assistance from the Ordinary Alliance and the Aodu Chamber of Commerce. Nana managed intelligence gathering, finances, personnel, and the courtyard base; one of her assignments was discreetly investigating Ye Guyi’s whereabouts 59 138 160.
The Holy Spirit Cult remained a persistent threat. Two Evil Soul Master Soul Saints overwhelmed Nana and several Soul Kings at the courtyard entrance before Lu Ren intervened. Later, he reproached her for concealing another attack and reminded her that their lives mattered more than proving their usefulness. He named the growing organization the Spirit Pagoda 66 143.
Shelter and the Soul Spirit System
Nana proposed taking in children with evil Martial Souls who had been abandoned by society and were vulnerable to cult recruitment. With Lu Ren’s approval, she organized their care, education, cultivation, and a contribution system through which they could earn resources 154.
Among those she rescued was Xiao An, a child whose Vengeful Spirit Martial Soul had involuntarily consumed his grandfather’s soul. Nana brought his condition—and the other children’s uncontrollable urges—to Lu Ren’s attention. After successfully giving Xiao An a Soul Spirit, Lu Ren entrusted her with the Soul Spirit Contract and a cultivation method based on absorbing negative emotions rather than taking lives 158.
Her devotion during this period produced Lu Ren’s first strand of pure Faith Power. Recognizing the Spirit Pagoda’s potential to support his eventual self-created divine position, Lu Ren selected Nana as its first master and brought her to the Imperial Palace 160 161.
First Pagoda Master
At court, Nana suppressed her fear and hatred when confronted by Holy Spirit Cult leader Zhongli Wu. Lu Ren introduced her as his personally trained Soul Spirit Contract practitioner, whose understanding of the system was second only to his own 162.
She demonstrated the system before Xu Tianran by conducting contracts for three Level 40 Soul Masters. All three obtained fourth Soul Rings and reached Level 41 within a quarter of an hour, with stable contracts and no reported side effects 163.
After securing imperial support, Nana prepared the Spirit Pagoda’s staffing structure and operating procedures. Lu Ren left its practical administration to her while providing its core technology and protection 164 166.
Zhongli Wu subsequently sent Wuyun to abduct her, but the Snow Empress captured him. Wuyun later became Nana’s protector on Lu Ren’s orders. During Lu Ren’s five-month seclusion, he repelled more than a dozen kidnapping attempts and ambushes while Nana publicly promoted Soul Spirit Contracts throughout Mingdu 168 182 184.
When Mingdu faced a major attack, Nana directed the Spirit Pagoda’s evacuation, sending the children away first while remaining at the courtyard herself 187.
Shrek takeover and continental expansion
By the fall of Shrek Academy, Nana handled the Spirit Pagoda’s personnel, accounts, intelligence, diplomacy, and core Soul Spirit technology. Both its veterans and newcomers accepted her as Lu Ren’s representative 226.
She offered Shrek’s teachers seven days to leave and invited those sincerely committed to teaching to join the Spirit Pagoda. She explicitly rejected Zhou Yi, condemning her treatment of struggling students and reliance on harsh training. Nana also warned recruits against secretly attempting to restore Shrek 226 227.
Several Shrek survivors later attacked her while she appeared unguarded. A Special Grade Cursed Spirit destroyed their combined Soul Skills and Soul Tool attack, leaving her unharmed. Nana then ordered the remaining openly hostile holdouts killed 229 230.
As the organization expanded, Nana supervised its research and external relations. She obtained Lu Ren’s approval to grant Huo Yuhao access to confidential Soul Spirit technology, negotiated cooperation with Di Tian after subduing Xiong Jun through her Cursed Spirit guards, and authorized mass production and safety testing of Meng Hongchen’s first artificial Soul Spirit 243 246 254.
Plane Master and the Silver Dragon King
A hundred years after Lu Ren unified the continent, Nana led human powerhouses in confronting the wounded Silver Dragon King, who intended to join the Golden Dragon King in the Divine Realm. Nana revealed her authority as the Douluo Plane’s Plane Master and summoned the Bone Dragon King 296.
Her task was to prevent the Silver Dragon King’s departure, not necessarily defeat her. The dragon judged that fighting Nana and the Bone Dragon together was too dangerous in her wounded state, while Nana herself remained uncertain of victory. The confrontation settled into a standoff 296.
Abilities & Skills
Soul Spirit Contracts
Personally trained by Lu Ren, Nana becomes the leading practitioner beneath him in understanding the Soul Spirit System 162.
- Conducts contract arrays that allow Cursed Spirits to become Soul Spirits and provide Soul Rings without hunting Soul Beasts 158 163.
- Learns array activation, communication with Cursed Spirits, and adjustments suited to different Martial Souls 158.
- Achieves a reported success rate above 95% 162.
- Successfully performs three consecutive palace demonstrations using Grade 1 Cursed Spirits temporarily placed under her control by Lu Ren 163.
Administration and Intelligence
Nana builds the Spirit Pagoda’s operational structure from its original Mingdu courtyard 160 226.
- Oversees intelligence channels, financial accounts, personnel assignments, diplomacy, and technological access 160 226.
- Designs staffing procedures and a contribution system for the organization’s dependents 154 166.
- Promotes Soul Spirit Contracts through academy lectures, household visits, and public demonstrations 184.
- Identifies political risks arising from imperial dependence on—and fear of—the Spirit Pagoda’s technology 166.
Teaching and Rehabilitation
Nana educates children whose Martial Souls expose them to persecution or dangerous instincts 157 158.
- Teaches reading, basic Soul Power circulation, and cultivation 157 161.
- Provides shelter and reassurance to children rejected by their families or communities 158 160.
- Spreads Lu Ren’s method of cultivating through negative emotions instead of consuming lives 158.
Cursed Spirit Protection
Lu Ren supplies Nana with both a personal Soul Spirit and separate Cursed Spirit bodyguards 226.
- Personal Soul Spirit: A Special Grade Cursed Spirit with combat strength comparable to a hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast 226.
- Elite guards: Several of Lu Ren’s strongest creations, later described as individually comparable to Level 99 Limit Douluos 244.
- Physical-specialist guardian: An enormous, eyeless spirit that sacrifices intelligence and its cursed technique for overwhelming physical attributes. It follows preset commands rather than exercising independent judgment 229 230.
- Later protection: Accompanied by Cursed Spirits descended from the Divine Realm, each above God Official level 296.
Faith Power
Nana’s unwavering devotion generates Lu Ren’s first pure strand of Faith Power, revealing a foundation for his future divine position 160 161.
- Intends to remain on the Douluo Continent, manage the Spirit Pagoda, publicize his achievements, and maintain his Faith Power rather than follow him into the Divine Realm 251.
Plane Master Authority
Nana can draw upon her connection with the Douluo Plane to raise her presence and strengthen her position against an otherwise superior opponent 296.
- Demonstrates this authority against the wounded Silver Dragon King 296.
- Summons the Bone Dragon King to reinforce the confrontation 296.
- Does not regard victory as assured, even with that support 296.

She is discussed as a possible admirer, but no confirmed romantic relationship is established in the supplied passages 48 160 246 251.
