Appearance
Parker is tall and exceptionally broad-shouldered, nearly filling the doorway when he speaks privately with Titus outside the earl’s bedroom 2.
- Bald head: His gleaming scalp is a recurring identifying feature; Titus spots him by it in House Peake’s camp at Harrenhal 2 47.
- Voice: He initially addresses Titus in a low voice through the bedroom door 1.
Personality
Titus considers Parker loyal, straightforward, agile, and exceptionally quick to act. His direct temperament complements Bowen’s more flexible and less scrupulous approach, giving Titus confidence in their ability to handle the uncertain situation at Nightsong 10.
Parker is protective of his lord’s dignity. He moves to announce Titus’s title when Alston greets him too familiarly and becomes visibly angry at Ser Maddy’s provocative welcome, though he accepts Titus’s restraint on both occasions 11 12.
Despite initially struggling to keep a straight face during Titus’s impersonations, Parker learns to accommodate his lord’s unusual behavior without exposing the deception. Rolly, a newcomer to the guard, finds him approachable and hopes to help him with his work 19 20 22 36.
Abilities & Skills
Guard Command and Protection
Parker commands House Peake’s disciplined household guards alongside his deputy, Bowen 10.
- Protective formations: When Titus senses someone watching them in the forest, Parker discreetly closes the mounted formation around him 19.
- Squad leadership: Titus assigns Parker, Bowen, and Wenda one squad each for the journey to Highgarden 29.
- Travel logistics: He helps organize horses, provisions, tents, and equipment for the Nightsong expedition, and later directs the unloading of horses and baggage at Bitterbridge 5 35.
Close-Quarters Combat
Parker fights at the reception hall doorway during the confrontation at Nightsong, helping prevent Maddy’s supporters from reaching their leader 16 17.
- Holds the entrance with Bowen and supporting guards despite sustained pressure 17.
- Physically restrains Maddy before Titus executes him 17.
- Helps Wenda restrain Lorent Caswell’s two guards while Titus confronts their master 35.
Questioning and Covert Coordination
Parker supports Titus’s deceptions by briefing soldiers, arranging surveillance, and questioning prisoners 20 21 24.
- Explains Titus’s assumed identity to Jack and the returning soldiers, then enters Starpike ahead of the party to establish the cover story 20.
- Houses “Alicent” and “Bull” near one another so they can be watched together 21.
- Obtains the names and backgrounds of Andy, Gordon, and Jamie without torture; the three cooperate before he has done much questioning 24.
Equipment
- Armor: Iron helmet, gorget, fine mail shirt, mail skirt, and greaves, worn for the Nightsong expedition 10.
- Sword: Carried at his side during the capture of Wenda’s band 22.
- Torch: Held while standing beside Titus during the nighttime encirclement in Starpike’s courtyard 22.
- Mount: A Highgarden warhorse, like those ridden by the rest of Titus’s twenty-man escort to Nightsong 14.
History
Blackmont’s Arrival at Starpike
Parker first appears reporting that a Blackmont knight and twenty guards have arrived seeking Lora. He places the visitors in the front hall under Bowen’s watch and identifies their leader as Othello, apparently a member of House Blackmont. He then escorts Titus and Lora downstairs 1 2.
When Othello challenges Titus, Parker starts to step forward, but Titus stops him. The narration leaves open whether Parker intends to intervene or request permission to fight in his lord’s place 2.
The Nightsong Expedition
Following the suspicious report of Byron Caron’s death, Parker and David Robinson receive orders to prepare an urgent departure for the Stormlands. Parker and Bowen assemble twenty household soldiers and accompany Titus to Nightsong 5 10.
During Titus’s fight with Maddy, Parker is ordered to hold the reception hall doorway with Bowen. Their defense prevents Maddy’s supporters from rescuing him until he orders them to surrender. Once the pressure eases, Parker rejoins Titus and holds Maddy down for his execution 16 17.
The Don Quixote Deception
On the return journey, Titus introduces himself to a supposed merchant’s daughter, Alicent, as guard captain “Don Quixote,” assigning the actual captain the role of deputy “Sancho Panza.” Parker maintains the disguise and passes the new identities to the soldiers 19 20.
At Starpike, Parker arranges rooms for Alicent and her bodyguard, brings Gino to report that “Bull” is actually the Ironborn Oswin, and continues Titus’s plan to observe the visitors. He stands beside Titus when the group is surrounded that night and Alicent is exposed as Wenda the White Stag 21 22.
Proposed Battalion Command
When Titus decides to recruit another five hundred professional soldiers, he intends to give Parker command of the new battalion after Robinson completes its training. Bowen would accompany him as First Centurion, while Wenda is Titus’s preferred replacement as guard captain. This remains a proposed reassignment: Parker is still identified as captain of the guard at Harrenhal 25 47.
Journey to Harrenhal
Parker travels north with Titus’s party, commanding one of its squads. At Bitterbridge, he assists with disembarkation and restrains Lorent Caswell’s guards during Titus’s intervention at the smithy 28 29 35.
In King’s Landing, Titus assigns Parker’s subordinate Jack and several soldiers to remain behind, establish an underworld presence in Flea Bottom, and secretly monitor the former Brotherhood members 40.
Parker reaches Harrenhal ahead of Titus with the shipborne party. He greets his lord at House Peake’s camp, reports that the main Reach delegation has not yet arrived, and explains that Wenda is preparing his rooms. He subsequently leads Titus to meet Walter Whent 47.
Relationships

- Bowen — Deputy and regular command partner. Their contrasting temperaments complement one another, and they fight together at Nightsong 10 17.
- Wenda — Fellow guard officer. They cooperate at Bitterbridge, although Titus considers her more attentive and sensitive than Parker. Her use of a notebook to record orders catches both Parker and Bowen off guard 33 35 40.
- Jack — Subordinate soldier. Parker briefs him during the Don Quixote deception; Titus later assigns Jack to remain in King’s Landing 20 40.
- Rolly — New guard recruit who regards Parker as easygoing and wants to help him in order to settle into the household guard 36.
