Li Luo's boots struck the stairs with a steady rhythm.
After saying goodbye to Delta Three, she headed straight upstairs.
The stairs on this level seemed longer than those below. After turning the corner and looking upward again, she could see nothing at the stairway entrance. Above her was only darkness.
"No lights?"
Li Luo curiously walked up. Only upon reaching the top of the stairs did she realize that the lighting here was terrible. A few dim lamps hung some distance away, their faint glow illuminating a corridor that led deeper inside. Anything farther away was completely invisible, swallowed by pitch-black darkness. Even the corridor walls seemed black.
"It looks like some kind of stain."
Li Luo studied the wall beneath the dim light, puzzled.
Didn't the hotel clean up its own stains? Even if those lights were damaged, shouldn't they repair themselves automatically? Why was this level such a strange sight?
She curiously walked forward. The moment her boot stepped onto the corridor floor, it suddenly made a strange squelching sound.
Li Luo hurriedly looked down and discovered that the layer she had thought was corridor carpeting was actually a moss-like organism. When she stepped on it, water seeped out of the moss and splashed around her.
That strange sound had come from stepping on the moss. If Li Luo's boots had not been specially made, she probably would have slipped by now.
Looking at the "carpet" beneath her feet, Li Luo did not continue forward. She stopped where she was and slowly lifted her foot.
