In the melodious music, Mo Ling felt a warmth.
Those gazes were not spying on him. They were forming a connection with him.
He raised his head and saw lines stretching across dimensions.
Those lines glowed, turning into particles of light and rippling waves, linking two worlds that should never have been able to touch.
The two sides should never have been able to meet, yet now they were gazing at one another.
:
"Did you see it?"
Mo Ling knew that whoever was on the other end of those gazes, their thoughts had already begun to stir.
This was an influence that crossed dimensions, unrelated to the hierarchy of dimensions or the distance between them.
:
"Whoever you are, thank you for watching over this world."
It was because of this light that real shadows could exist.
Shadows existed not only upon the ground, but also in the hearts of those who watched.
Everything in this world fell into the eyes of those who gazed upon it, continuing to flow within their eyes, seeping into their hearts and enduring forever in their memories.
Though this world was far from beautiful, teetering on the edge of collapse for all sorts of reasons, chaotic and incomplete...
:
"My world isn't very beautiful, is it?"
Mo Ling stared directly at the dazzling light and spoke sadly.
:
"This world is full of disasters, like a house on the verge of collapse. Worms and rot keep eating away at everything. The Abyss brings death, power brings destruction, and everyone lives in fear, barely clinging on through the sacrifices of the innocent. Faith has crumbled. People have forgotten the heroes, forgotten the past, patching things up and stumbling forward..."
"Sometimes I wonder how nice it would be if this world had never rotted away.
