Soft music played in the restaurant.
The friends asked in unison, "What happened next?"
Mo Ling turned to look around him. He felt at ease; everyone was here.
"What happened next? Don't stop there! Hurry up and tell us the ending!" Martin urged anxiously, shaking Mo Ling by the shoulders.
"After that..." Mo Ling said those two words in a low voice, seeming lost in thought.
"Cube transported the entire world, along with that light, into Cube Space, using itself to contain the entire 'story.'"
When Mo Ling revealed this ending, all his friends froze.
None of them understood...
"Why did Cube do that?" Li Luo asked in confusion. "Couldn't he go back to the past and stop Abyss from appearing?"
"Of course not. If Abyss had never appeared, this story would not exist, and those lights would never have looked over. If the world was not seen, it would not exist. So not only could he not stop Abyss from appearing, he had to let everything follow its normal course, let this story unfold in its entirety, and hold those lights fast."
"Those lights were the true foundation of the world's existence?"
"That's right." Mo Ling nodded.
"But that world would remain trapped in fate forever, endlessly playing the same 'story.' Cube would become a prison, trapping everyone inside." Lu Youqi shook his head and frowned.
He cared so much about everyone, even those within the 'story.'
"Don't worry." Mo Ling smiled at him. "Don't you remember? Cube could already control its teleportation. What he put into himself was the entire 'story,' not actual people."
"Then where are the people?" Lu Youqi pressed.
"They're right here. Aren't we all here? Cube only took away the 'story'... the people were moved outside Cube, into those normal worlds."
Mo Ling patted
