Mo Ling began doubting whether his experiences had been real again.
Why was it that every time he returned here, he landed right beside Li Luo with such perfect accuracy?
Did the Tree Transformer Tribe he had saved, along with the Theseus Cell world on the outskirts, truly exist?
He could not tell.
Mo Ling felt as though his brain was about to burn out.
The deeper he thought, the more his vision swam.
"I might have low blood sugar."
Eating the snacks Li Luo had brought, Mo Ling finally recovered.
Once he stopped thinking about those things, he felt much better.
Watching the food on the Cube vanish piece by piece, Li Luo revealed an envious expression.
"I have to say, you Relics really do have a great appetite. Ever since I came to the Abyss, I've lost my appetite for many things I used to like eating."
Mo Ling had heard about this at the Monitoring Station as well.
Every layer of the Abyss carried a different burden, generally manifesting as various physiological symptoms, much like how humans diving into the deep sea would feel water pressure.
But Mo Ling truly had not felt anything at all.
Other than the full-body soreness he occasionally felt while staying inside the Cube, he had experienced no discomfort.
Perhaps loss of appetite was one of Li Luo's symptoms too.
After Mo Ling had eaten and drunk his fill, Li Luo became troubled again.
"I still don't know how to get you up there. It's too high."
Only then did Mo Ling realize that he did not seem to have shown Li Luo his ability to fly yet.
So he hurriedly controlled the Cube, leaving the pool and slowly floating into the air.
His flying ability had not been affected.
Li Luo's eyes widened as she looked at the Cube before her. "So you can fly by yourself?"
To keep Li Luo from misunderstanding any further, Mo Ling quickly explained through the Electronic Screen, "Just learned it."
He even had Li Luo try sitting on the Cube, carrying her upward through the Great Tree Cave to test his flying ability.
Before long, the Cube rose to the edge of the cave ceiling.
"So steady." As Li Luo curiously experienced the Cube elevator, she praised it, "This is much steadier than that piece-of-junk vehicle."
Mo Ling had initially worried they might be attacked by creatures while flying up, but he found that the creatures along the way had become much calmer.
It seemed the creature mutations had truly ended.
The Cube flew toward the Tree Transformer Tribe. Even while carrying Li Luo, Mo Ling did not find it difficult to control.
Instead, the girl was unusually excited, constantly praising the Cube.
Upon returning to the Tree Transformer Tribe, the familiar sight gave Mo Ling another sense of disorientation.
He even felt that the Metamorphic Trees were about to rush over and "praise the Holy Object."
But without an ambitious leader like their former chief, the Metamorphic Trees here were clearly much simpler.
They seemed to have realized that the mutations had stopped as well, and were preparing to send a group of their companions to fulfill their goal of becoming trees.
Mo Ling was surprised to discover that the planting site chosen by the Metamorphic Trees happened to correspond to the forest where they had been born.
And the number of Metamorphic Trees coming here through the Great Tree Cave would probably increase from now on.
Mo Ling was quite glad that he had saved the Tree Transformer Tribe.
While Mo Ling was still wandering around the Tree Transformer Tribe, a squad hurried over.
It was Captain Su and his group.
Most of the soldiers in the squad wore confused expressions.
The moment Captain Su entered the Tree Transformer Tribe and saw Li Luo standing leisurely beside the Cube, he hurried over.
Captain Su's bandage-covered face revealed no expression, but his tone was extremely agitated. "What happened? The creature riots throughout the entire Sealed Area have stopped."
After speaking, he realized he had been too hasty. He took a few breaths before continuing, "Was it because of the Tree Transformer Tribe?"
Li Luo remained unhurried and sent Captain Su all the data from the past few days.
Captain Su did not stand on ceremony and quickly began reading through it.
"A riot caused by the Voice of God disrupting and changing the Theseus Cells?"
Li Luo nodded.
After reading it carefully, Captain Su suddenly understood. "No wonder the creatures that came with each Beast Tide were combinations of so many different aberrations."
"Do you know how the Voice of God disappeared?" he pressed.
"It suddenly disappeared that night. I don't know the exact time. I only noticed that the riot had eased, and when I entered the range of the voice again, I could no longer hear it."
Captain Su pondered for a long time before sighing.
"When the Voice of God first appeared, it was just as elusive. Fortunately, the damage it caused this time was not too severe."
Captain Su then explained the results of the Outpost Station investigation over the past few days to Li Luo.
After returning to the station, he had immediately checked the communications personnel and the station's lines, only to find that there were no issues.
Once he saw the riot subside, he guessed that something had probably happened on Li Luo's side, which was why he had rushed over in time.
Li Luo asked in confusion, "Didn't you try any other means of communication?"
Captain Su shook his head. "No. This is the only line. The Abyss interferes severely with signals, so there's no other way."
Li Luo also told Captain Su about the chimeric creatures inside the Great Tree Cave.
Rubbing his temple, Captain Su said troubledly, "Looks like we'll have to find time to clear it out. If something terrible emerges, we'll be finished."
He then walked toward the rear and explained the situation to the soldiers behind him.
Although the soldiers still looked confused, they visibly relaxed.
With the riot confirmed to have subsided, they could at least catch their breath first.
"Our other team members reported a passage that might be leaking Theseus Cells. Want to go take a look together?" Captain Su asked.
It seemed that just after the riot subsided, the Outpost Station had already made considerable gains.
Li Luo nodded at the Captain, habitually pressed her wristband, then froze in place.
Mo Ling was stunned for a moment too, before realizing what was wrong.
Why were they not moving?
Oh, the vehicle was gone.
That expensive Mountain Bike had probably become parts at the bottom of the Great Tree Cave's pool by now.
She crouched in front of the Cube and asked softly, "Do you mind revealing your abilities?"
Mo Ling controlled the Cube and spun it as though shaking its head.
Captain Su studied it for a moment and also noticed that Li Luo's little vehicle was gone.
"We have a flatbed cart for carrying Supplies. Do you need it?" Captain Su pointed behind him.
Li Luo waved her hand at Captain Su.
What happened next left every soldier staring in astonishment.
Li Luo stood up and said to Captain Su, "Let's go."
The Cube behind her moved accordingly, rising from the ground and floating above Li Luo's head.
The heavy metal block followed behind Li Luo like some kind of tracking automatic weapon.
The orderly cubic block formed a stark contrast with the slender curves of the girl.
Even Captain Su lifted his head at that moment, looking at the Cube without being able to say a word.
Only after Li Luo reminded him several times did Captain Su come back to his senses, calling for the soldiers to start leading the way.
The soldier in front looked back every other step, constantly stealing glances at the Cube from the corner of his eye.
Finally, the soldier could not hold back any longer and asked curiously, "How does your Relic have so many abilities?"
Li Luo thought for a moment, then borrowed Mo Ling's explanation.
"Just learned it."
