Background & History

Kagami is Shin'yu's younger brother. Unlike Shin'yu, he believed in the peace of Konohagakure and rejected his brother's call to abandon the village with Madara. Shin'yu regarded this faith as naïveté and left Kagami behind. 6

Five years after Shin'yu's defection, Kagami had become one of Konoha's strongest young shinobi. He sought to bring Shin'yu home despite the deaths Shin'yu had caused, including Konoha jonin, and Tobirama accepted him as a personal disciple to teach him a technique capable of doing so. 44

Shin'yu later exploited Kagami's devotion and grief, possessing and manipulating him during the conflict surrounding Hashirama. Kagami's Mangekyō Sharingan awakened when he was forced to stab Shin'yu, believing he had killed his own brother. 131 145 Shin'yu subsequently revealed that he had engineered the confrontation to force this awakening. 162

During the First Shinobi World War, Kagami became Konoha's decisive frontline force. He used Flying Thunder God and Garuda to protect allied troops, mastered Wood Release after the Hashirama-cell procedure, and subdued the Eight-Tails and Two-Tails alongside Mū. 176 199 205

After Kagami's body became a tree body, Ōtsutsuki Isshiki used Karma data to restore it, transforming him into an Ōtsutsuki-like vessel. Isshiki's weakened consciousness could not fully overwrite Kagami; the two now struggle for control of the same body. 380 490 507

Appearance

Kagami strongly resembles Shin'yu, sharing roughly seventy percent of his features. His face has softer, more feminine lines than his brother's, with long eyelashes and slightly downturned eyes that give him an indolent expression. 58

  • Ink-black, curly hair. 501
  • Fair complexion and melancholic, deep-set eyes. 501
  • Blood-red Mangekyō Sharingan with an elaborate three-bladed shuriken-like pattern. 490
  • After his restoration, appears as a mature young man despite having supposedly died as a teenager. 501
  • His transformed body bears Karma-related changes and can manifest a colossal golden Susanoo. 490 495

Personality

Kagami is defined by loyalty, responsibility, and an enduring attachment to both Konoha and Shin'yu. He initially believes peace is worth preserving and repeatedly tries to bring his brother back rather than kill him. 6 44 Even after Shin'yu's betrayals, Kagami states that he would trade his own life for his brother's if necessary. 118

He is introspective and prone to isolation. He carries guilt for the deaths of comrades and feels alienated within both the village and the Uchiha clan, often choosing to watch Konoha from Hokage Rock rather than join others. 116 118

In battle, Kagami is patient and analytical. He commonly relies on Susanoo's defense to observe an opponent's abilities before committing to a counterattack. 491 His later experiences with possession, persecution, and resurrection leave him more detached and severe, though he still chooses to seek answers from Shin'yu rather than immediately pursue revenge. 501 516

Abilities & Skills

Mangekyō Sharingan

Kagami's Mangekyō Sharingan grants him two named ocular techniques, potent genjutsu, and access to Susanoo.

  • Awakened through the trauma of believing he killed Shin'yu. 145
  • Its repeated use damages his optic nerves; this deterioration drove Tobirama's Hashirama-cell fusion project. 178 196
  • Later evolved into the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan through Isshiki's intervention, eliminating the immediate threat of blindness. 382

Garuda

Garuda absorbs energy and converts it into Kagami's physical power.

  • Can absorb ninjutsu, Sage Art, heat, kinetic force, and other forms of energy. 503 507
  • Converts absorbed energy into speed, stamina, strength, and increased damage output. 507
  • Allowed Kagami to swallow a large-scale fire attack and release its heat into the ground as an explosion. 176
  • Can prevent physical contact from harming him by dispersing kinetic force through afterimages. 157
  • Has a finite absorption capacity; excessive stored energy can overwhelm Kagami unless discharged, including through Susanoo. 157

Takama-ga-hara

Takama-ga-hara is a precognitive technique that lets Kagami observe future possibilities and alter outcomes through deliberate action.

  • Allowed him to predict Shin'yu's movements and resist possession attempts. 148
  • Enabled him to view 14,000,605 potential futures while finding a successful gene-liquid fusion ratio. 196
  • Lets him see through opponents' attacks and evade them before they land. 500
  • Its use places considerable strain on his eye power and body. 196

Susanoo

Kagami can manifest Susanoo from partial projections to a Complete Body form.

  • Used a Mangekyō-powered Susanoo against Ginkaku during the Beheading Operation. 182
  • Manifested Stage Four, Mature Form while fighting Nian and Orochimaru. 503
  • Can apply Susanoo Armor to Wood Release creations, turning wooden dragons into golden armored constructs. 493
  • His Complete Body Susanoo is a colossal golden humanoid with armor and wings. 495

Wood Release and Hashirama Cells

Kagami gained Hashirama-cell power through Tobirama's gene-liquid experiment.

  • His cells were confirmed compatible with Hashirama's Gene Liquid. 196
  • Gained Wood Release, enhanced vitality, and self-healing ability. 199 495
  • Created massive forests, wooden dragons, and Wood Clones. 493 205
  • Used Wood Release alongside Mangekyō power to subdue the Eight-Tails and eliminate Hidden Cloud ambushers. 205

Flying Thunder God Technique

Kagami learned Flying Thunder God under Tobirama's tutelage.

  • Used it to evade and attack Shin'yu after awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan. 145
  • Teleported Konoha forces away from incoming Tailed Beast Balls during the war. 176
  • Intercepted Ginkaku's Tailed Beast Balls, saving Konoha's headquarters at the cost of its supply warehouse. 182
  • Defeated and captured Kinkaku through a Flying Thunder God and Wood Release combination. 207

Karma and Ōtsutsuki Physiology

Isshiki's Karma fundamentally changed Kagami's body while leaving both consciousnesses active.

  • Karma restored Kagami from a tree body and remade him into an Ōtsutsuki-like being. 380
  • Isshiki and Kagami cannot fully access one another's memories or Mangekyō techniques while competing for control. 507
  • Kagami loses consciousness whenever he attempts to access Karma directly, allowing Isshiki to take over. 516
  • The combined effects of Hashirama cells, Karma, and Garuda preserve his youth and peak physical condition. 501

Weapons & Items

  • Frost Descent One Heart — sword drawn by Kagami during the conflict with Shin'yu and Tobirama. 145
  • Chakra Black Rods — rods embedded in Kagami's body as restraints; he can break and scatter them to intercept projectiles or use them to disrupt an opponent's chakra circulation. 498 499

Relationships

  • Uchiha Shin'yu — Older brother. Kagami wants to save him despite Shin'yu's manipulation, repeated possession attempts, and pursuit of Kagami's eyes. 44 145 148
  • Tobirama Senju — Master and mentor. Tobirama trained Kagami, relied on his ocular ability for the Hashirama-cell experiment, and named him as his preferred successor. 44 185 196
  • Hashirama Senju — A guiding figure who comforted Kagami after Shin'yu's possession and trusted him during the conflict with Shin'yu. 131 145
  • Uchiha Fire Core — Clan head and superior who recognizes Kagami's loneliness and offers him emotional support. 116 118
  • Ōtsutsuki Isshiki — Co-occupant of Kagami's body. Isshiki restored Kagami's body and Eternal Mangekyō, but the two consciousnesses continuously contest control. 382 490 507
  • Uchiha Nen — A clone of Kagami who has been tasked with monitoring him through Kuenbiko. 525 587
