The original Wei Yi had enjoyed a privileged childhood, but an examination after he entered the academy at fifteen identified severed meridians. Friends abandoned him, Zhao Xueqian severed their relationship, and his standing within the clan collapsed. Recovery at True Martial Academy

While completing his first breakthrough quest, he rescues Zhu Ling’er and Yang Qingqing from Blackwater Bandits and kills their chief. Back at the academy, he confronts Qian Tonghe over bribery and an attempt to expel him. His bloodline awakens during their clash, allowing him to defeat the ninth-stage instructor in three moves 6 7 10 11 12.

The academy offers him special privileges and approves his transfer from Class Eight to Class Three. He later confronts Sun Wenzong’s group, fights another instructor, rejects Zhao Xueqian’s attempt at reconciliation, and finishes first in the second-year assessment 12 14 15 16 17.

Defending the Young Master Position

When the Wei Clan’s elders move to replace him, Wei Yi returns with Uncle Wu to defend his position. Blackwater Bandit assassins attack them en route; Wei Yi kills the attackers and suspects the Sun brothers’ involvement 17 18 19 29.

At the clan, he proposes settling the succession through combat and defeats Wei Yuan, Wei Wu, and Wei Hong. The elders accept him as Young Master. He subsequently evolves his bloodline to silver in the ancestral grounds, ending most internal opposition to his position 21 22 24 25.

Despite defending the title, Wei Yi has no intention of succeeding his father as clan head. He also conceals the system from his parents, explaining his recovery as an earlier testing error followed by persistent cultivation 23 25.

Alchemy and the Crimson Crystal True Flame

Wei Yi astonishes Shen Qiulan’s alchemists by producing ten high-quality Body Tempering Pills on his first attempt. He continues refining pills during his stay with the clan and reaches third rank within half a month 27 28.

During the Wei and Sun Clans’ struggle for the Abnormal Fire, Wei Yi leads the Wei warriors through the canyon. Sun Wenzong uses Sun Wenyuan as a shield against Wei Yi’s sword, killing his younger brother; Wei Yi subsequently kills Sun Wenzong 30 31.

Wei Yi then drives off Yuwen Bei with help from his former clan rivals and secures the Crimson Crystal True Flame. Although absorbing it temporarily lowers his cultivation, it greatly strengthens his combat and alchemy. After becoming a fourth-grade alchemist, he decides to pursue entry into the Overlord Sect despite learning that Yuwen Bei is an elder’s son 31 32 33.

Entering the Overlord Sect

On his return to the academy, Wei Yi helps defeat Blackwater Bandit cavalry hired by Yuwen Bei. He then earns one of the academy’s ten Overlord Sect recommendation places by defeating Instructor Xu, a fourth-stage Great Martial Master, with one punch 34 35 38.

When students repeatedly challenge his nomination, Wei Yi charges a stake of ten thousand taels per match. He deliberately wins narrowly to encourage further challengers and collect more silver 39.

After entering the sect, he protects fellow newcomers from the Black Tiger Society’s extortion and later defeats Huo Tianlu. He replaces his damaged Qinggang Sword with the Hero Sword, uses the Beast Soul Tower to accumulate skill experience, and declines Liu Ruyun’s faction invitation because his priority is entering the inner sect. Li Hanlun later proposes striking first against the Black Tiger Society’s secret preparations 41 44 45 47 49 50.

Wei Yi is proud, confrontational, and unwilling to accept humiliation. Even after Qian Tonghe badly injures him, he laughs, draws his sword, and demands another fight. His desire for revenge is tempered by calculation: he postpones confronting Sun Wenzong until he has sufficient strength and prioritizes urgent matters over settling old grudges 4 10 20.

He treats his gamer knowledge as a practical advantage, relentlessly seeking experience and profitable opportunities. His staged narrow victories in wagered academy matches show his willingness to manipulate opponents’ expectations. He also enjoys teasing friends, joking to Lu Xing that Zhu Ling’er and Yang Qingqing follow him because of his looks 5 8 39.

His ruthlessness toward enemies contrasts with his protectiveness toward allies. He shields Uncle Wu during an ambush, intervenes when veteran disciples harass Zhu Ling’er, and rewards the clan rivals who helped him obtain the flame with Origin-Breaking Pills 18 33 41.
