Felicia shook his head. "Peter, are you crazy?"
"I didn't. Because if I were Hydra, I would do it." Peter stared at her, "This is a trap, Felicia. We can't step into it."
"Peter, that's my dad! I can't let him stay in prison for the rest of his life!" Her voice rose.
"I know, I understand. But listen to me, give me some time. I'm going to tell Fury what happened, tell him that Rumlow is a ghost, and let him catch him."
"Then move my dad to a place where it is even more impossible to save him?" Felicia stood up with anger in his eyes, "I will not lose him again, Peter, never!"
"Why don't you understand!" Peter also stood up, his anger rising, "They are using you and using us! We ruined their plan, so they want to get rid of us to prevent us from coming back again!"
"We? You mean 'you'!" She shook him off and walked out.
"Felicia!" Peter chased her out of the cafe, quickly stopped in front of her, grabbed her wrist and turned her around, "Felicia, this is a trap!"
"No!" She broke away from his hand, "It's not a trap, Peter! These are just those messy conspiracy theories in your head! This is just me going to save my dad!"
"But Hydra--"
"--They don't take me seriously at all! I'm just a little thief, not worth mentioning! You are amazing, you are the great Spider-Man," she lowered her voice with sibilant anger.
Peter heard a buzz in his head.
Was that what she originally thought? Did she think he looked down on her? Did she think she was not important in his heart at all?
"Felicia!" He chased after me again. She turned into an alley to get rid of him, but Peter turned over and jumped in front of her, blocking the way, "I have never looked down on you, Felicia. Believe me, please. Where did such words come from?"
She looked at him, tears slowly gathering in her eyes. "When you Aunt May and Uncle Ben were arrested, I didn't ask anything. I only asked you what you needed me to do. What now? When I needed you to help me save my father, you made up these ridiculous plots... You don't need to lie to me, Peter. I can do it alone."
"I didn't lie to you!" Peter said anxiously, "Everything I said is true! There are indeed spies in S.H.I.E.L.D., and Rumlow is probably one of them! I am protecting you and us!"
"What evidence do you have?" she asked. "What evidence do you have that he is a spy?"
"Why would a Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. leak confidential information to you? Why would he do this if he had no intention?"
"He said he was my dad's friend--"
"When did they become friends? When your dad was in jail!" As soon as the words came out, Peter knew that he had said the wrong thing. He froze on the spot and stammered, "I, I... I'm sorry Felicia, I didn't mean that..."
"That's enough." Her voice trembled with suppressed anger, "No need to explain. I don't want to explain anything to you anymore. Don't come and talk to me."
She pushed him away and left without looking back.
Peter picked up the phone and contacted Fury "An agent named Rumlow under your command took the initiative to contact Felicia and said that he would help her rescue her father."
"What?" Fury's voice suddenly became tense.
"That's right. I concluded that he is Hydra. They probably know that Felicia is willing to do anything to save her father, and they also know that I am willing to do anything to keep her from going to jail. I guess they want to set a trap and take us away together. In other words, Rumlow--"
"--It's from Hydra." Fury continued, "Is she planning to do something stupid?"
"Are you asking about something as stupid as going to rob a prison alone?" Peter asked back, and Fury agreed. "Not yet. I hope I can convince her. We just had a big fight about this matter, and she wanted to follow Rumlow's clues, but I didn't agree. I will try to make her understand."
"Then do it quickly. I don't want to put the two cats in jail together." Fury said in a deep voice.
"You might be able to help."
"How can I help?"
"Rumlow claims to be an old friend of Walter. Can you check whether this is true or not? For example, if they have ever worked together, or if Rumlow once served as a guard in the prison where Walter is imprisoned - any evidence that he is lying to Felicia will be fine."
"I will try my best to investigate." Fury agreed, and then warned, "Don't let her do stupid things, Peter."
"Fury, the only thing I will never allow to happen in my life is to put Felicia·Hardy into danger. Just let it go--"
Boom!
The explosion was deafening, as if a giant cannon exploded on the spot. Peter turned his head suddenly and saw an orange energy wave spreading out like a tidal wave in the direction of Upper East Side.
There is only one building there that could cause such a movement - Baxter Building.
"What's going on?!" Fury asked in the communication.
"I don't know, but I will find out. Spider is over." Peter cut off the call, turned around and rushed towards the hinterland of the city.
The further forward, the traffic on the road became more and more congested. The crowd was running hastily from the Baxter Building direction. Peter felt nervous. Is everyone okay? It should be fine, Thing's body bones can bear it. Reed is not easily injured. Johnny can probably protect himself. Su also has an invisible shield, but what should his father do?
He was afraid. He was so afraid that something would happen to the man who treated him as his own son. He might not be Richard's biological son, but he at least owed the man named Peter an explanation - he had to ensure that his father was alive and well.
Peter rounded the corner, and Baxter Building suddenly came into view. The top five floors were burning into a sea of flames.
Damn it, his lab was destroyed.
Flames billowed out from the window, and cries rang out one after another below. The shrill siren of the ambulance came from far away - good, it was not the civilians' turn to worry about him for the time being.
He swung directly to the floor-to-ceiling window of the lounge and broke in. Everything around him was burning, as if it was burning with purpose. He quickly adjusted the settings of Silk-Shooter and shot out a large ball of spider web, covering the flames layer by layer, suffocating the fire.
"Dad?! Ben! Johnny! Where are you!" He put out the open fire in the lounge and rushed towards various laboratories.
"Peter! This way!" The voice came from Su's laboratory. Peter rushed to the door, and the door was locked. He touched the door panel, but there was no heat, and there was no fire inside. Kicking the door open would not cause backfire.
He kicked open the door and rushed in. The room was in a mess, but fortunately most of Su's samples were sealed in plexiglass, and most of them were not damaged. The wall at the deepest part of the room had collapsed, and Richard was hunched over, protecting the unconscious Su and Johnny.
"Dad!" Peter rushed over, "Are you okay?!"
"Su protected us," Richard's voice trembled, "She tried her best...Johnny fainted!"
"Hurry up! I'll take you out right away!" Peter thought, and the Spider arm on the back came out of the cabin in response. The four mechanical arms shot out four Silk at the same time, grabbing the collapsed concrete block and exerting force together.
The broken wall on the side was blown away in its entirety, but the largest cement board directly above lost its balance and was about to fall down. Peter rushed over and held it with his shoulders.
"Come on, dad!" he urged through gritted teeth.
Richard dragged Su and Johnny, staggering out from under the wall panel. After the three of them escaped safely, Peter withdrew and jumped to the side.
"What happened?" he asked Richard.
"I don't know," Richard gasped, "We felt the vibration coming from Reed's laboratory, and then the whole floor turned over. Su saved me, but how could this happen?!"
Peter looked around. "The situation is very bad, very bad." An ominous premonition filled his back with a cold feeling. He pressed the side of his helmet and started the group call, "Calling all Avengers."
The response came quickly from the other end of the phone - Tony, Steve, Natasha, Clint and Fury, except Bruce. There is no need for Hulk at this time.
"Hello?" Tony was the first to answer.
"Stark? Why did you call me?" Fury's voice interrupted.
"Me? I didn't call you, you called me!" Tony choked back.
"Tony, if this is a joke, it's not funny at all." Steve's voice also joined in.
"Captain? Are you online too?" Fury was slightly surprised.
"I called you." Peter said, "I'm in Baxter Building now, and everything here is ruined. Something is wrong, but I haven't figured out the specific reason yet. Tony, how soon can you get there?"
"Fifteen minutes?" Tony estimated.
"Come here as soon as possible and bring all your armor. This place looks like a war just ended." Peter glanced at the ruins, "Fury, Su Storm and Johnny are unconscious. I need you to send agents over immediately. Captain, can you and Widow ensure that nothing escapes from this building?"
"I'll take the first flight there." Natasha only said one sentence before hanging up the phone.
"See you soon, Spider-Man." Steve cut off immediately.
Peter put away the communication and took a deep breath.
Now, we have to figure out how all this happened.
He walked towards the door, and Richard stopped him from behind. "Where are you going?"
"Go find Reed and Ben." Peter said, "Stay here. No matter what caused this incident, they probably thought you were dead, which is a good thing. Tony They will be there soon."
"Peter, don't go--"
"I have to go." His voice was very soft, "I'm sorry, Dad."
Richard looked like someone had cut it out, but he still sighed, "Be careful, son. Please."
Peter nodded, ducked out, and went straight to Richard's laboratory.
The door of the laboratory was wide open, and there were scorch marks on both sides of the door frame. The fine cement blocks on the ground flew outwards - that's where the energy wave came from.
He rushed into the room and saw darkness in front of him. He cursed secretly and quickly switched to night vision mode. The moment his vision lit up, he saw Ben embedded in the corner of the wall, and the wall behind him sank into a large human-shaped pit.
"Ben!"
Thing's blue eyes slowly opened and blinked. "Little Peter?"
"Don't talk, Ben. You may be seriously injured. Don't move, I've already called someone." Peter quickly checked his condition, "Where is Reed? What happened?"
"Mister Fantastic..." Ben groaned and turned his eyes to the center of the laboratory with difficulty.
Peter looked over and saw Reed lying face down on the ground like a rubber band stretched to the limit.
"Reed!" Peter rushed over.
"No..." I wanted to shout something, but only a vague moan came out of my throat, "He's back..."
Peter carefully held up Reed and reached out to touch the side of his neck - his heartbeat was steady. He breathed a sigh of relief, "Reed? Reed, can you hear me? It's okay. You'll be fine."
Reed slowly opened his eyelids, looked at him distractedly, and moved his lips. "Yes, I'm sorry... He's back... I, I didn't think..."
"It's okay, Reed, you'll be fine!" Peter reassured her repeatedly.
"No, Spider-Man." A voice came slowly from behind the huge experimental equipment, "I'm afraid it's not going to be okay."
Peter looked up suddenly, and only had time to see a bright green ring explode in front of him.
"Get out of the way!"
The string in his head was ringing wildly, and he retreated backwards, barely able to avoid the green energy beam. But at the same time, Spider-Sense exploded again, and there was something behind him! He couldn't hold back the momentum of retreating, and ran straight into it.
A metal hand grasped his throat from behind.
Peter stretched out his hand to break it off, but the iron-like fingers did not move at all. A huge force lifted him into the air, and his throat was compressed until it was almost blocked.
He slapped the opponent's arm with his backhand, and the power of Repulsor Cannon was adjusted to a bone-breaking strength.
Click!
The robot's arm broke off. Peter fell heavily to the ground, holding his throat and choking, almost coughing out his lungs. He rubbed his neck and looked around. It was the remains of the robot, the one he had been studying since Doom attacked here nearly a year ago.
His heart brightened and he suddenly raised his eyes.
A figure is walking out from the depth of the light source.
The armor was dull, with cracks all over it, and green energy seeped out from every crack. The cloak was in pieces, and the mask was as hideous as if it were welded to his face. The man looked down at him and slowly raised a hand.
"Doom is back, here for you."
Victor·von·Doom.
An energy beam struck the head of the bag. Peter was slow for a beat, too fast, and too sudden. He only had time to be shocked that this man was still alive, and the impact hit his chest hard, sending him flying out of Reed's laboratory and straight into the wall on the opposite side of the corridor.
Doom walked out of the laboratory with heavy steps, and the sound of footsteps hit Peter's eardrums amid the ruins filled with fireworks.
Peter slid to the ground. Before he could land, Doom's iron claws grabbed his throat again and lifted him up.
"I've been in that field for too long, too long. Every day I think about how to kill you, how to grind this bug like you into powder." Doom spat, shook his hand, and threw Peter into another wall like a rag bag.
A rib was broken at the sound.
Doom picked him up again and threw him from one end of the lounge to the other. Peter rolled around on the ground several times, trying desperately to stand up again, but in the end he could only barely hold up one knee. That was enough.
He raised his palms together and shot out two Repulsor Cannons.
"Ridiculous." Doom swiped casually, and a shield made of green energy appeared out of thin air - it was a circular array, with two overlapping rectangles in the center, and dense Sanskrit characters flowing around it.
Peter Unbelievable--That's Magic?
"Insects that don't know how to live or die." Doom removed his shield and kicked Peter in the jaw, sending him flying away.
Peter fell heavily, and he tasted the smell of blood in his mouth, and a broken tooth rolled on the tip of his tongue. He raised his head and saw Flash slash out of Doom's hand. The current was enough to burn a living person into coke.
He curled up the corner of his mouth and allowed the arc to drown him.
The energy tank inside the suit rose rapidly. He screamed loudly, pretending to be struggling in pain, waiting for that moment.
Doom finally stopped and looked down at Spider-Man who was lying on the ground. He was about to move--suddenly, a muffled sound came from the back of his head.
Bang!
Richard held up a fire extinguisher and hit Doom on the head.
Doom stopped and turned around slowly. "It's extremely stupid, but your courage is commendable." He grabbed Richard's throat and lifted him off the ground, "Don't worry, I won't make you suffer too much."
"Let him go!"
The chest cannon on Peter's chest suddenly lit up, and a beam of incandescent light penetrated Doom's chest and abdomen, blasting him away. Richard fell to the ground.
Peter rushed to Richard in the blink of an eye, knelt down on one knee. "Are you okay?"
"Run, Peter! Leave me alone! Run!" Richard hissed.
"I--"
Spider-Sense screams.
Peter retreated backwards, but still slowed down. Doom's hand grabbed his neck again, carrying him through one wall after another, and finally threw him hard against a floor-to-ceiling window.
Wow!
Glass flew around him like broken stars. Peter fell downwards, and his back was numb with severe pain. He had to survive, he had to...Silk, he had to shoot Silk.
He raised his hand and shot out a Silk that hung on the window of the building opposite, then slammed into another glass curtain wall like a pendulum and fell into an office table.
Peter curled up in a ball, with the broken glass digging deeply into his legs. He tried to crawl away and hide, but the window was already covered with a layer of black shadow.
Doom is suspended in mid-air.
It's so unfair.
Doom floated into the window and landed in front of him. Peter felt that his body was getting colder and colder, and his blood was bleeding too much. Doom tilted his head and looked at him, and then--
Boom!
A punch hit his chest. The breastplate dented inward, and he crushed the desk underneath, and his whole body fell to the ground.
Doom stepped on him, suppressed him with one knee, and raised his fist.
One punch, two punches, three punches.
The fourth punch broke the bridge of his nose, the sixth punch shattered the eyepiece of the helmet, and the seventh punch directly smashed the helmet into pieces.
Doom's fist suddenly stopped in mid-air.
He saw the face below.
That face belongs to a child.
"You... you are a child." Doom's voice sounded shocked for the first time.
Peter was speechless, blood filled his eyes, and there was only a blur of red in front of his eyes.
The brief pity quickly dissipated, followed by more violent anger. Peter could almost smell the rusty copper-like killing intent. "Doom was defeated by a child? By a bedbug?!"
Peter coughed and moved his lips, as if he was mumbling something.
Doom leaned down with a gloomy face and approached his mouth.
Peter said softly, "I am Spider... not a bedbug or an arachnid. Your genius is nothing more than that."
Doom was about to speak when he suddenly felt a hand pressing on his throat. The hand was weak and weak, as light as a touch.
There was a trace of amusement in his eyes, and he was about to laugh at the ridiculousness of this dying struggle.
The next second, he took a sharp breath - Peter's eyes seemed to flash with a faint blue light. The metal neck armor at Doom's throat began to collapse inward without warning.
"Uh--!" Doom shouted and tore off that part of the armor.
Peter's arms dropped to the ground feebly, and he laughed softly.
Even if he really had to die here, at least he would have to pay the price.
Doom gasped and raised his arm again, his palm facing Peter's face. "Go to hell."
