"You know Deacon?" Li Ang turned to look at Bella, whom he had planted in the ground.
She lay facedown, her upper body buried in the dirt while her lower body knelt on the ground.
Dirt clung to her gorgeous face too. She struggled to lift her head. "I do."
"Really? Then take me to him." Li Ang wasn't worried that the vampire could pose a threat to him.
It was no exaggeration to say that vampires were more human than Li Ang now!
Deacon counted toward the completion of two missions: the first involved Blade, and the second was to kill five villains.
That old bastard would definitely count, as would Abomination. The only pity was that Obadiah didn't.
Li Ang had asked the system about that too, and its answer had been brutally simple.
[Progress made before the mission was issued doesn't count!]
Yet the reward the system offered was so tempting: the same chest cannon Soldier Boy had, with power comparable to a small nuclear bomb, and it could even erase superpowers.
Mutants existed in this world. This thing was practically the ultimate weapon against mutants!
"I..." Bella looked noticeably hesitant.
She lifted her head, and when she saw Li Ang's expression turn impatient, she hurriedly said, "I can, but... could I bite you?"
"Hmm?" Li Ang looked at Blade, then at Bella.
He kept feeling that this woman was up to something. Raising his hand, Li Ang lifted Bella into the air with telekinesis and said coldly, "You dare bargain with me?"
Under his telekinetic control, Bella's expression finally showed pain. An unnatural flush rose to her face, yet there wasn't a trace of fear in her eyes.
"You've misunderstood. You have to verify your identity to enter vampire territory!"
Verify my identity? Li Ang gave no indication either way after hearing that, then released Bella.
She dropped to the ground, gasping for breath, and the way she looked at Li Ang actually suggested she wanted more.
"Lord Deacon has his own bar in New York. We often hold 'feasts' underground."
"Feasts?" Li Ang didn't need to think to know that this was probably much like slaughtering a pig for the New Year. Of course, what they slaughtered certainly wasn't a pig, but living people.
Beside him, Blade's sword hand trembled slightly at those words. It was the excitement of finding prey.
As a half-human, half-vampire, he knew all too well what a vampire's hunger felt like. No one could withstand it. Even he could only suppress it with regular serum injections.
That meant vampires would inevitably devour humans. There were no innocent ones, and Blade would show neither mercy nor hesitation when killing them.
As for Li Ang...
Blade looked Li Ang over and asked, "Can you bring yourself to do it?"
Li Ang nearly laughed out loud. He didn't consider himself a moral man. Never mind killing a few vampires-he would even kill humans if necessary!
"Put your mind at ease. If you'd pulled the trigger on me earlier, you wouldn't be alive to talk to me."
Li Ang spoke calmly, as though that was only natural.
But those words made Blade, who had begun to relax, tense up again.
Beside them, Bella shivered when she heard Li Ang say that, not out of fear, but fascination.
"All right, take me there."
Li Ang couldn't wait to get the chest cannon ability. While searching for Bella, he had also tried killing a few armed muggers. Unfortunately, they hadn't counted.
If he hadn't been unable to find the villains from the plot, he would have gone straight over and killed them.
"All right, follow me." Bella's legs trembled as she rose, and she braced herself against the wall to stand.
As she got up, her gaze passed discreetly over Li Ang.
Well-concealed hunger and fear filled her eyes.
She turned toward Blade, who was checking his equipment. "Are you ready, Blade?"
Blade began checking his equipment at her question. Once he had made sure everything was ready, he flicked his collar and murmured, "Yeah~"
"Fuck, what a poser!" The corners of Li Ang's mouth twitched.
Following Bella, the two men and one woman left the alley. The bar was somewhat out of the way, so Li Ang had intended to fly there.
"I'll fly you two over."
Bella's eyes lit up. Without waiting for Li Ang to say anything else, she wrapped herself around his arm. "Wouldn't that be a bit much? Won't you get tired?"
The squeeze was even more intense this time. Li Ang kept feeling that this woman lusted after his body. Still, she was at least a hundred years old, yet her body was just like a young woman's in her twenties. Vampires really were something.
Did they really get better with age?
"You ride." Blade pulled Bella away.
They followed Blade a short distance, and a modified motorcycle came into view.
Bella rolled her eyes at Blade, angry that he had spoiled her fun. "Why don't you run and let Li Ang give me a ride?"
"Because I can't fly." Blade said it without blushing or his heart skipping a beat-because his face was black.
"Then you ought to run fast, at least. After all, the ones who couldn't are all in the ocean." Bella's taunt made the corners of Blade's mouth twitch, while Li Ang nearly lost it beside them!
Was that even something a human would say?
Seeing Blade's hand reach for his sword hilt, Li Ang hurriedly caught his wrist. "Enough. I'll call someone to bring a car."
With that, Li Ang sent Kingpin a message.
Beside him, Blade flexed his wrist and gave Li Ang a long look.
When Li Ang had grabbed him just now, he had used a hidden burst of strength to try to break free, but it had vanished like a stone sinking into the sea!
Soon, Kingpin's driver arrived and drove them toward the outskirts under Bella's guidance.
They drove for nearly an hour before stopping at the edge of the city.
Although they were almost outside the city, there were still plenty of people around, and the shops were lit. Neon lights flashed at the bar, but no one stood outside its entrance.
Li Ang stood behind Bella, while Blade stood in the shadows, showing off his racial advantage. He couldn't go inside.
His unusual physique was very noticeable to vampires.
"Today's the monthly feast. Lucky you." Bella swallowed as she spoke, as though still savoring something.
His enhanced sense of smell easily picked up the scent of blood. Barring any surprises, they had already started draining blood below.
Activating X-Ray Vision, Li Ang looked beneath the bar. In the basement, men and women had been stripped naked and locked in cages like livestock.
Anger flashed through Li Ang's eyes at the sight, but he didn't erupt. He intended to wait until Deacon appeared.
Otherwise, he would alert them. If these vampires had some special means of escape, wouldn't all his efforts have been wasted?
At that thought, Li Ang took a deep breath and suppressed his anger, then followed Bella toward the entrance.
A tall, burly security guard immediately approached and stopped Li Ang. "Today's members-only. No entry without a reservation!"
Li Ang said nothing and turned to Bella.
If Bella couldn't get them inside, they would just have to kill their way in.
Seeing this, Bella walked over to the guard and raised her hand, using a fingernail to slit her forearm.
Once blood flowed out, the guard took a look. Bella then leaned closer and said something to him.
When she finished, the guard snickered, and the way he looked at Li Ang changed.
Where there had been wariness before, there was now hunger and pity, as though he were looking at a lamb awaiting slaughter.
"Go on in."
The door opened, and Li Ang followed Bella inside.
The bar was frighteningly quiet. At the sound of the door opening, everyone turned to look.
When they saw Li Ang, every one of them swallowed in unison.
