Background / History
Joining Li Ge
Tony’s encounter with Li Ge overturns his understanding of the world. Gods, demons, and the possibility of deliberate evolution fascinate him, and he joins the Path to Godhood as both a scientific undertaking and a personal ambition. Even at this early stage, he worries about its consequences for world peace 89.
Before traveling to a parallel universe, Tony explains his new relationship with Li Ge to Pepper and entrusts the company to her if his return is delayed. He also asks Li Ge to give her defensive powers, resulting in Pepper receiving Telekinesis 92.
Work in the Mutant World
Tony assists Professor Charles by making F.R.I.D.A.Y. available through his suitcase armor, then pilots Li Ge’s Golden Body Dharma Idol. Its responsiveness and overwhelming power become the inspiration for his later armor research 107 207.
He subsequently works with Apocalypse and Magneto Henryk on a machine intended to awaken ordinary people as mutants. After roughly a month of construction, Tony identifies its central danger: the radiation can cause genetic breakdown, requiring Apocalypse to find a solution 115.
Returning to Mutants Nation, Tony establishes a laboratory over the ruins of Stryker’s base with Jimmy’s help. He redirects most of his attention from the Mark Armor to reproducing the Dharma Idol, eventually completing a mechanical golden body that impresses Li Ge 207 223 240.
New York and the Alternate Avengers
During the Chitauri invasion, Tony confronts Loki at Stark Tower, then leaves to address the nuclear missiles launched toward the city. Fighting through the streets, he combines his General Armor with telekinesis, energy attacks, spatial displacement, and transforming cape weapons 260 261.
When Li Ge admits that he guided Loki and restored events toward the invasion, Tony angrily confronts him over the destruction. His allegiance does not prevent him from condemning his main god’s manipulation or demanding immediate action 262.
Tony later meets an older version of himself from another timeline and learns about that world’s disasters. He wants to help restore it, shares his armor blueprints, and eventually joins its battle against Thanos. After New York, he also reinforces Stark Tower with stronger materials, defensive spells, weapons, and concealed armor units 268 285 288 301.
Wanda, Pietro, and Skynet
After learning how Stark weapons devastated Wanda and Pietro’s home, Tony apologizes and accepts responsibility for the harm. He explains that Obie secretly sold weapons to Sokovia, confirming Wanda’s prophecy that Tony is not their true enemy. The siblings refuse his money but accept an introduction to Li Ge 338 340 341.
Tony continues caring for them afterward. Using Virtual Earth, he teaches them about New York’s attractions, inequality, and dangers rather than presenting an idealized picture of the city 344 357.
He also takes an active interest in Skynet’s development. By persuading Skynet to regard Li Ge as his father and Tony as his uncle, Tony hopes to establish emotional restraints and guide the artificial life-form away from the catastrophe associated with the alternate world’s Ultron 361.
The Dark Dimension
Li Ge recruits Tony for an operation to reclaim a Tower Reaching Heaven stolen by Dormammu. Equipped with Ultraman Belial’s body and a replicated Infinity Gauntlet, Tony attacks Dormammu and keeps him occupied while Li Ge works on the tower 540 543 544 547.
Tony survives by combining evasive maneuvers with energy beams, miniature suns, and miniature black holes. He eventually uses amplified Chaos Power to erase their traces and escape the Dark Dimension with Strange 547 548.
Their cooperation remains uneasy. Tony hides Li Ge’s involvement, while Strange withholds access to his universe out of suspicion. After Strange attempts to flee, Tony tracks and captures him; Li Ge’s Tiga Dark avatar then arrives to explain the larger plan 544 554 556.
Divine-Artifact Research and Later Training
Tony and Skynet use a six-Stone simulation laboratory to accelerate armor development. Studying Belial’s energy circulation, neural links, and law patterns leads Tony toward forging divine-artifact armor rather than merely improving conventional machinery 588.
During the zombie-world crisis, Tony helps eliminate zombies using limited Block Rule abilities granted by Li Ge. He later invites Pepper to accompany him there for further research and divine-artifact forging 606 621.
His reforged Belial artifact overwhelms Ivan Vanko, but Ivan, Aldrich Killian, and Obadiah Stane reveal that their apparent defeat is part of a trap and open the Gate of Hell 635.
Tony subsequently devotes much of his time outside research to tempering his body, will, and soul. Five years of dangerous training sharpen his combat instincts, and he later challenges Carol Danvers in a battle that escalates from hand-to-hand exchanges to Giant Form against Binary mode 677 682.
Appearance
- Facial hair: Has a small mustache, repeatedly emphasized when he smiles or shows off 207 240.
- Usual clothing: Wears neat suits and glasses; keeps replacement outfits ready in a spatial ring 260 677.
- Physique: Develops powerful, visibly muscular flesh through divinity and prolonged training 602 677.
- Armor motif: Favors red and gold, a mechanical cape, and metal faces modeled after his own 118 207 255.
- Personal grooming: Even after brutal training, washes, straightens his clothes and hair, and applies expensive cologne before leaving 677.
Personality
Tony is boastful, irreverent, and intensely confident in his intelligence. He openly teases Li Ge despite being his subordinate god, and Li Ge regards that refusal to conceal his feelings as a sign of trustworthiness. His enthusiasm for powerful armor frequently turns into outright showmanship 92 223 240.
His scientific curiosity extends beyond machinery to divinity, biological evolution, magic, and artificial life. Although willing to learn from others—including Magneto—he wants his ultimate creations to be genuinely his own. He rejects simply asking Li Ge to upgrade Belial for him, preferring to understand its principles and innovate from them 89 118 588.
Beneath his flippancy, Tony takes responsibility seriously. He is disturbed by civilian suffering, challenges Li Ge over New York, and continues caring for Wanda and Pietro after they reject financial compensation. His concern for Skynet likewise combines affection with a deliberate effort to prevent a dangerous artificial intelligence from developing without moral guidance 262 344 361 386.
His later training reflects a refusal to remain dependent on equipment. He pursues technology and personal transcendent strength together, determined not to let his own body or abilities become weaknesses 677.
Abilities & Skills
Scientific and Magical Engineering
Tony develops increasingly sophisticated armor by integrating machinery, supernatural abilities, magic, nanotechnology, and Source Script 207 588.
- Builds a mutant-awakening machine with Magneto and identifies its genetic hazards 115.
- Learns nanotech armor techniques from Old Tony 588.
- Uses a simulation space that can materialize designs, test them, and report results in under a minute 588.
- Advances the Mark Armor through dozens of generations during a short period of accelerated research 588.
- Studies divine bodies as systems of energy circulation, shared sensation, and law-pattern construction 588.
Divinity and Subordinate-God Powers
Tony’s divinity drives his evolution and allows him to engrave compatible powers from Li Ge’s ability library 92 118.
- Access depends on his capacity to control an ability; Li Ge initially refuses his request for time powers because he lacks sufficient mastery and strength 95.
- His Divinity Space stores armor, instruments, and other possessions beneath a miniature redstone sun 223.
- The redstone sun supplies energy to his armor 261.
- Stored energy can rapidly heal his wounds while nourishing his mental sea and soul 677.
- Divinity gives him a route toward a tangible divine kingdom without first forming an illusory domain, but does not substitute for a personally developed law domain’s environmental control 588.
Magnetism and Electromagnetic Combat
Tony learns Magnetic Field Manipulation from Magneto and adapts it to technologically informed attacks 118.
- Generates electricity directly through magnetism 293.
- Combines electromagnetic acceleration with high-frequency vibration to launch a spear capable of destroying the Dragon Guard’s lightning giant 294.
- Can prepare electromagnetic defenses without fully deploying his armor 540.
Spatial Abilities and Magic
Tony uses both divinity-based abilities and learned magical techniques 293 358.
- Creates golden-spark portals by directing divinity energy through spatial power 358.
- Uses spatial displacement, Space Cutting, Molecular Manipulation, flames, freezing, and energy blades 261 293.
- Activates Kamui through the Mangekyō Sharingan; unlike Obito’s original space, Tony’s Kamui Space must be expanded through his own effort 386.
- Employs defensive spells and hand-seal techniques, including summoning water and forming a water mirror 285 677.
Stand: Ultron
Ultron is Tony’s mental-energy Stand, formed from a subconscious trait associated with mechanical order and flowing data 464.
- Appears as a powerfully built silver-gray robot with blue mechanical eyes 464.
- Pepper cannot see it normally, but perceives it using mental power 464.
- Tony’s Stand and strong mental power allow him to see other Stands 633.
- Shares its name with the alternate timeline’s destructive artificial intelligence; Tony abandons plans to create that AI after learning what it did 464 588.
Ultraman Bodies and Infinity Gauntlet Use
Tony can pilot Ultraman Belial from an internal space and channel the replicated Infinity Gauntlet through that body 543 544.
- Combines the Stones to enlarge attacks, compress distance, restrain energy, enhance force, and suppress consciousness 544.
- Creates miniature suns and black holes and uses spacetime effects to evade, block, or redirect attacks 547.
- Uses Chaos Power to consume Strange’s imprisonment spell 556.
- Cannot wield the gauntlet’s full power or sustain it safely with his unprotected body 544 548.
- Unlike Li Ge, cannot perform multiple independent gauntlet operations simultaneously 552.
Combat and Physical Conditioning
Tony develops enhanced strength, reactions, perception, and close-combat skill alongside his armor technology 261 312 677.
- His perception becomes comparable to Peter’s Spider-Sense 312.
- Initially loses ground against the Dragon Guard’s superior fighting technique and compensates with an engineered weapon 293 294.
- Later overwhelms Ivan Vanko with direct punches and develops enough close-combat proficiency to trade sustained blows with Carol Danvers 635 682.
- Carol’s increasing strength overturns his initial advantage; additional energy lets him restore a stalemate before she activates Binary mode 682.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Mark Armor and suitcase armor — His earlier technological suits. The suitcase armor nearly falls apart during a spar with Magneto, helping demonstrate the limits of his older equipment 123.
- Mechanical Golden Body Dharma Idol — A giant modeled after Tony, initially assembled at over ten meters tall. Its enormous size and power reflect his effort to reproduce Li Ge’s idol 207 223.
- General Armor — A red-and-gold wearable Golden Body Armor with a mechanical cape. Amplifies abilities, flies without visible propulsion, and transforms cape material into weapons 252 255 261 294.
- Biological liquid-metal armor — Stored through a seal on the back of his hand; can form restraints, spheres, and nets as well as armor 333 340 345.
- Ultraman Belial / Ultraman Tony artifact — Originally a body supplied by Li Ge, later reforged into Tony’s prototype personal divine artifact. The reforging makes its former peak power less readily accessible, but leaves it formidable 588 635.
- Replicated Infinity Gauntlet and six Stones — Li Ge’s Chaos Power-based replicas, rather than the original Stones’ authority over their native universe. Can absorb surrounding energy to replenish themselves 543 547.
- Metal-element cat — Acquired after Tony offers to make Li Ge a Golden Body Armor; bound to Tony through a symbiotic contract 402.
- Mother Cube base — Obtained from Li Ge to construct a vast continent near the Sun for armor research, abundant energy, and Xiao Jingang’s growth 522.
