A mighty cultivator reincarnated!
The makings of an immortal!
Lu Changfeng did not know how Lu Xuanqing had reached this conclusion, but judging by his appearance, he was an older cultivator of the lineage and should not have spoken recklessly.
But wasn't that claim a little too grand?
Even someone with a single-attribute heavenly spirit root would not dare be so arrogant.
At most, they would claim the makings of a Golden Core or Nascent Soul cultivator, or, stretching things, a Spirit Transformation cultivator.
An immortal?
Lu Changfeng stood up.
He asked solemnly.
"Does that grandson of yours display some unique phenomenon?"
There were no phenomena.
But there was something very clearly abnormal.
Lu Xuanqing glanced around like a thief. His manner immediately hooked Lu Changfeng's curiosity, leaving him itching as though a hundred claws were scratching at his heart.
He promptly took out a soundproofing formation disc and activated it.
"No one can eavesdrop on our conversation now. Speak freely!"
Lu Xuanqing nodded.
Still cautious, he lowered his voice.
"My grandson, Lu Chenxing, was born just two and a half months ago, but he's already a cultivator at the Qi Refining first layer!"
Lu Changfeng stared into Lu Xuanqing's eyes, as though trying to discern something within them.
His Foundation Establishment Divine Sense extended, examining him from head to toe.
Yet he detected no trace of demons or evil spirits.
Then was this...
The result of prolonged secluded cultivation...
Had he gone mad?
"You don't believe me, Patriarch?"
"Should I?"
"My dear grandson is in this disciple's cave abode. Go take a look, and you'll know whether it's true."
"Do you think your patriarch has nothing to do all day? Why would something so absurd need verifying? It must be false! Cultivation requires a balance between tension and relaxation. You must have spent so long in seclusion that you're hallucinating. Go out more and relax your mind."
Had he known, he would have brought his dear grandson along.
Mostly, Lu Xuanqing had wanted to sound out the lineage's higher-ups.
"Patriarch, if a mighty cultivator truly reincarnated into our Lu Household, how do you think we should treat him?"
Looking into Lu Xuanqing's eyes, which had remained clear throughout, Lu Changfeng could not help feeling doubtful. Could he really not be talking nonsense?
Then he shook his head hard.
A two-and-a-half-month-old infant.
A cultivator at the Qi Refining first layer?
Spirit roots did not manifest before the age of ten, making cultivation impossible.
That was common knowledge in the cultivation world!
"I think I'm going mad too. I should make some time to steady my state of mind."
Lu Changfeng answered very seriously.
"If it truly is as you say, that would be our Lu Household's supreme glory. It would mean our lineage enjoys the Heavenly Dao's favor and has great fortune at its side. Naturally, we should hold him in reverence, honor him as our most distinguished guest, and fulfill his every request. When that mighty cultivator returns to his peak, our Lu Household will benefit alongside him, rising like a boat upon the swelling tide."
Hearing this,
Lu Xuanqing breathed a sigh of relief.
The patriarch was a sensible man.
Of the lineage's three Foundation Establishment cultivators, his opinion mattered most. Having learned his stance, Lu Xuanqing could now entrust his dear grandson to the lineage without worry.
"Please wait a moment, Patriarch. This disciple will bring my grandson here for you to see!"
With that, Lu Xuanqing turned and left.
Watching his figure vanish from sight, Lu Changfeng, still unable to believe his words, gave a self-mocking smile and shook his head gently.
He sighed.
"Alas!"
"The Lu Household's disciples really do get worse with every generation."
Although the lineage's decline was not his fault alone,
As patriarch, he was inevitably the one who bore the greatest responsibility.
After sitting down, Lu Changfeng could not help reflecting on whether the major decisions he had made over all these years had been right or wrong.
Before long,
That disciple returned.
Lu Xuanqing.
Lu Changfeng looked up and saw a very small infant sitting on his shoulder.
This must be the dear grandson he claimed had become a cultivator at just two and a half months old.
Simply laugh... terrifying!
A powerful Divine Sense entered Lu Chenxing's body and lingered there.
Lu Changfeng shot to his feet, his eyes widening as far as they could.
A force propelled him toward Lu Xuanqing and his grandson.
He murmured under his breath.
"How is this possible? How is this possible!"
An even greater shock awaited Lu Changfeng.
Lu Chenxing raised his fair, tender little arms and cupped his hands in greeting to Lu Changfeng, opening his mouth to speak in a child's clear voice.
"This disciple, Lu Chenxing, greets the patriarch!"
That clear, babyish voice echoed through the hall and through Lu Changfeng's mind, leaving his head buzzing.
He spoke!
A two-and-a-half-month-old infant had spoken.
Good heavens, was this a haunting?
Watching Lu Changfeng stand rooted to the spot in shock, Lu Xuanqing's lips curled slightly upward.
"Patriarch, this disciple didn't lie to you, did he? My dear grandson truly is a mighty cultivator reincarnated. He broke the Heavenly Dao's conventions and stepped onto the immortal path at the tender age of two and a half months. Calling him someone with the makings of an immortal isn't excessive, is it?"
"N-no... not excessive!"
Lu Changfeng came back to his senses. With the truth before his eyes, he had to believe it.
Two and a half months old, at the Qi Refining first layer.
It was actually true.
His eyes met Lu Chenxing's, and he suddenly felt a sense of insignificance well up within him, as though he were facing a mighty cultivator.
"Senior, may I ask..."
Lu Chenxing knew what he wanted to ask and hurriedly interrupted.
"Since I've reincarnated, everything from my past life should already have dispersed like smoke and clouds. From the day I was born, I've had only one identity: Lu Chenxing, a disciple of the Lu Household. Grandpa Patriarch, if you don't mind, just call me by my name."
Grandpa Patriarch!
Lu Chenxing of the Lu Household!
Good!
Good, good, good!
This was wonderful.
Lu Changfeng had never heard such a beautiful voice.
"Then this old man will have the cheek to call you Little Chenxing. Hahahaha! To think our Lu Household truly possesses such heaven-surging fortune! Our rise is within reach! Our rise is within reach!"
Guaranteed.
A guaranteed rise.
Not just the Lu Household, but Great Xia too.
Lu Chenxing guaranteed it all.
"Patriarch, you've seen my dear grandson's talent with your own eyes. I know I cannot nurture him, so I've brought him here to entrust him to you. I hope the lineage can live up to his arrival." As he spoke, Lu Xuanqing lifted Lu Chenxing off his shoulder and held him out.
Lu Changfeng hurriedly took him with care and placed him on his own shoulder.
He solemnly promised.
"Rest assured. Little Chenxing is the key to our Lu Household's future rise. The lineage will spare nothing to nurture him."
"Good. Then this disciple will take his leave!"
Lu Chenxing called out to Lu Xuanqing as he was about to leave.
"Grandpa, put your own safety first and try not to go anywhere dangerous. Once your grandson rises, I'll carry you soaring!"
Lu Xuanqing turned back and gave him a gratified smile.
"All right!"
"Grandpa will wait for his dear grandson to carry him soaring."
