| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Improved constitution | 440 | Regular meals and time spent with Su Yi alter her constitution sufficiently for Dijiang to recognize her potential for witchcraft. |
| Galaxy Special Forces trainee | 516 540 | Displays exceptional talent at ten. Practices an incomplete Dragon Elephant Limitless Fist Art, whose maximum potential is only the Golden Core stage; her own realm is not specified. |
| Disciple of two Sages | 542 | Becomes the disciple of the Primordial Heavenly Venerable and Sect Leader Tongtian. Receives the Sea-Calming Pearl and Ten Thousand Divine Lamps; Su Yi seals the lamp’s power to prevent excessively rapid advancement. |
| S-Rank; eleventh-ranked combatant | 701 716 723 | Initially described as having reached the Ascension Stage. Her later assessment distinguishes her combat strength from her actual cultivation realm. |
| Mahayana Stage — clarified cultivation | 757 | Explicitly identified as still below Ascension despite her S-Rank standing. Her profound cultivation art and sword techniques allow her to kill above her realm. |
| Further physical enhancement | 759 | Half a month of Su Yi’s meals raises her constitution beyond Wang Xiu’s, despite his five years of arduous witchcraft training. |
| Sword-intent and soul refinement | 763 764 | Training against a phantom in Su Yi’s sword formation strengthens her soul, steadies her sword heart, and gives her insight into swordsmanship beyond Tongtian’s previous techniques. |
| Ascension-equivalent cultivation | 765 | Emerges from the formation with power comparable to an Ascension Stage cultivator. Her masters’ cultivation system does not follow conventional Golden Core and Nascent Soul classifications. |
| Eighth-Grade Heavenly Immortal; first on the Human Ranking | 810 | Reaches this realm at thirteen and replaces Ji Zeyang at the top of the ranking. |
| Star Arts learned | 811 813 | Uses artifact-enhanced mental power to sense stellar energy, then draws on the power of the Milky Way during her fight with Ye Ling. |
Appearance
- Stature: Approximately 1.3–1.4 meters tall when she reunites with Su Yi in Qingzhou City 701.
- Clothing: White Taoist robes, reflecting the influence of her two masters 701 715.
- Hair: Worn in a bun secured with an exquisite pale-yellow jade hairpin 715.
- Accessories: A patterned bronze waist token and a crystal-clear bead; she carries a treasured sword more than a meter long 715.
Personality
Xu Diandian is affectionate, outspoken, and easily drawn into Su Yi’s teasing. She calls him a bad person for cooking rabbits, yet happily eats three bowls of rabbit meat. Her appetite repeatedly wins out over her fears, including when she continues drinking milk tea after believing Ye Xiaxuan might punish her for taking it 106 485 486.
She is considerate toward her family. After classmates mock her for supposedly having no parents, she keeps the bullying from her mother and refuses Zhang Ting’s offer to collect her from school every day because her mother already gets up too early. Her stated reason for cultivating is to protect her mother—and eventually Su Yi as well 328 329 540.
Her honesty and sense of responsibility sometimes take comically literal forms. Told to care for the “fairy grass,” she fertilizes the Ten-Thousand-Year Mystic Vine herself and admits what she has done despite fearing punishment. Later, she hands over her treasure-hunt rewards because she promised Huang Changyu, seeking praise rather than payment 377 805.
Despite her immense power, she remains frightened by blood and dangerous animals. That fear does not prevent her from protecting a companion: believing Wang Xiu is about to die, she abandons concealment and risks her life to defend him 721 757 765.
Abilities & Skills
Swordsmanship
Trained by Sect Leader Tongtian and later through Su Yi’s instruction and formations, Xu Diandian possesses exceptional sword comprehension and a resilient sword heart 720 762 763 814.
- Sword qi: Destroys Wang Xiu’s nurtured flying knives during their brief sparring match 720.
- Sword-aura barrier: Forms a defensive field five meters around herself, blocking bullets and missiles while shredding approaching robots 754.
- Immortal-Slaying Sword Strike: Produces a giant blood-red sword. At Mahayana-equivalent cultivation, the attack is powerful enough to kill an Ascension Stage expert 757.
- Higher sword intent: Learns from a phantom whose final strike she considers superior to the Immortal-Slaying Sword Strike 764.
- Limit: Repeated ultimate attacks exhaust her; eight successive strikes leave her struggling despite circulating the Yuanshi Jade Void Art 757.
Cultivation and Constitution
- Yuanshi Jade Void Art: A profound cultivation art that supports combat above her nominal realm 757.
- Dragon Elephant Limitless Fist Art: Practices an incomplete version before receiving the two Sages’ teachings 540.
- Enhanced physique: Su Yi’s cooking substantially improves her constitution, eventually putting it above Wang Xiu’s 440 759.
- Unconventional realm system: Her masters’ methods do not use ordinary Golden Core and Nascent Soul classifications; later realm labels describe comparable power 765.
Daoist and Star Arts
- Offensive Arts: Learns them from Tongtian and again from Su Yi 810.
- Star Arts: Senses stellar power with her enhanced mental strength and mobilizes the power of the Milky Way with assistance from her treasures 811 813.
- Ice chains: Uses hand seals to summon thick chains of ice against Ye Ling 813.
- Divine-sense communication: Greets the visiting deity Ye Ling through divine sense 811.
- Limit: Her hand-seal casting can be interrupted by close-range attacks 814.
Artifact-Assisted Protection
- Concealment: The Ten Thousand Divine Lamps allow her to vanish from perception. Only a handful of Earth’s mighty gods can detect her, though Su Yi can break the technique 756 757.
- Recovery: The lamps release divine essence when her power runs dry, healing her injuries within moments 759.
- Extreme offensive potential: Combining her treasures with Tongtian’s stored origin power produces an attack capable of killing an ordinary Immortal Emperor; Su Yi nevertheless defeats it with one slash 757.
- Limits: She cannot fully release all her treasures’ power. Their stored source power helps her wield the Green Duckweed Sword without exhausting her spiritual energy 806.
Combat Limitations
- Limited practical experience: Her guardians initially keep her away from life-and-death battles; she has never killed an animal when Wang Xiu first takes her hunting 720 721 731.
- Poor barehanded responses: Ye Ling overwhelms her with teleportation and rapid punches when their match excludes weapons 813 814.
- No grasp of the Law of Space: At Heavenly Immortal cultivation, she cannot adequately counter Ye Ling’s spatial movement 813.
- Incomplete battlefield judgment: Her attempt to save Wang Xiu with a large-area sword strike could also have endangered him had Su Yi not blocked it 757.

Background / History
Childhood and Su Yi’s Courtyard
Xu Diandian attends kindergarten while her grandfather handles much of her daily care. She regularly visits Su Yi’s courtyard to eat, feed rabbits, and play. Su Yi also fills in for a parent on a school craft assignment, carving a detailed miniature of her from a radish during a livestream 106 184 205.
Her family’s difficulties reach her directly when thugs pursue Xu Chuan’s debt and threaten Zhang Ting. Su Yi finds Diandian crying with a handprint on her face and confronts Huang Yu about the injury 193.
At kindergarten, she fights with classmates who claim she has no parents. Wang Mingming then persuades the other children not to play with her. Su Yi attends the parent meeting in her mother’s place, helps resolve the dispute, and informs Zhang Ting, who had not known about the bullying 327 328 329.
Special Forces and Two Sage Masters
By ten, Diandian has joined the Galaxy Special Forces and attracted the attention of major sects. Li Youyou and Ouyang Tieniu remain beside her, and the latter drives off would-be recruiters 516 540.
When Su Yi offers to take her as his disciple, she refuses because she thinks he is an excellent cook rather than a powerful cultivator. He instead lets her choose among wooden carvings of immortals. Unable to decide, she asks to take all of them as masters; the arrangement is ultimately limited to the Primordial Heavenly Venerable and Tongtian 540 542.
Su Yi requires the two Sages to teach her on Earth and allow her to develop gradually. When the Primordial Heavenly Venerable’s lamp immediately begins drawing in enormous amounts of spiritual energy, Su Yi seals its power 542.
Qingzhou City
Diandian becomes a formidable figure in Qingzhou, protected by great demons who mistakenly believe she may be Su Yi’s daughter. When Wang Xiu and Qian Hao’s street battle causes civilian casualties, she confronts them over the city’s ban on fighting but turns to Su Yi when their competing claims confuse her 701.
Proud of her S-Rank standing, she tells Su Yi she ranks eleventh nationally. Wang Xiu later spars with her, then changes their contest into a monster hunt after her sword destroys his flying knives. His attempt to expose her to danger instead ends with frightened Diandian befriending wolves that Su Yi has secretly controlled 716 720 721.
She subsequently calls the wolf pack to carry herself and Wu Wenze on a rescue mission. After reaching Spirit Wood Town, she asks to stay longer so she can play and feed the wolves 727 739.
Gate of Evolution and Tower Trials
While searching for Su Yi, Diandian and Wang Xiu encounter robots in the Gate of Evolution. Her sword aura easily destroys ordinary attackers, but Su Yi secretly provides stronger opponents to test them 754 755.
During the masked-man confrontation, she intervenes to prevent Wang Xiu’s apparent death. After her sword techniques fail, she expends blood essence and deploys her masters’ treasures, only to be defeated by Su Yi. Her lamps restore her afterward 757 759.
She then enters the treasure tower, defeats a mechanical dog, and collects divine fruit. Its second-floor sword formation becomes an extended spiritual training exercise, greatly improving her sword intent and bringing her to Ascension-equivalent cultivation 762 763 764 765.
Humanity’s other powerhouses eventually help clear the tower. Diandian hands over her rewards to Huang Changyu as promised, though she eats some of the fruit first. Her main interest in donating the treasures is earning praise 802 805.
Human Ranking and Ye Ling’s Challenge
At thirteen, Diandian becomes an Eighth-Grade Heavenly Immortal and takes first place on the Human Ranking. She joins Xiao Wenyu in learning Star Arts from Su Yi 810 811.
Su Yi then arranges a fight between her and the visiting deity Ye Ling. After her powerful weapons are excluded and their cultivation is equalized, Ye Ling exploits her inexperience with teleportation and close combat to defeat her 812 813 814.
Angered, she draws the Green Duckweed Sword despite the agreement. Su Yi stops her, declares her loss, and insists that she keep her word. She admits her mistake and returns to his side 814.
Notable Quotes
“I have to cultivate hard so I can protect Mom in the future. I can protect you too.” 540
Trivia

- Su Yi deliberately does not intend her to become a world-saving hero; he considers learning enough to protect herself sufficient 802.
