Ji Clan Prodigy and Betrayal

Ji Yaoyao was the most talented member of the Ji Clan’s younger generation and enjoyed considerable prestige. A rare experience of enlightenment accelerated her cultivation, helping establish her as one of the clan’s greatest geniuses 27 1321.

Her uncle, Ji Yourong, conspired with Zhan Wuyuan to seize leadership from her father. He supplied information about an ancient tomb expedition that devastated the clan’s senior experts, then poisoned and personally killed his injured elder brother. He also killed Ji Yaoyao’s brother and arranged for her elimination 1321 1322.

Zhan Wuyuan led several Supreme Realm experts into an ambush against her. Ji Yaoyao killed several attackers and detonated her physical body, but Zhan Wuyuan still cleaved her soul in two. Her guard, Venerable Fengxing, rescued her by repeatedly using the Hundredfold Sublimation Instant Kill Technique, escaped through torn space, and sustained her remaining soul with his own blood at the cost of his life 27.

Zhan Wuyuan also sought an earthenware jar he believed she possessed. She had already entrusted it to the Ji Clan’s ancestor 837.

Pact with Ji Wuchang

After several hundred years asleep, Ji Yaoyao emerged from a storage ring when Ji Wuchang called her out. He recognized the ring from his previous life, in which Xiao Fan had possessed it. She initially concealed her full identity, warning that Ji Wuchang could not bear its karmic implications 23 24.

They exchanged cultivation guidance and combat techniques for half of Ji Wuchang’s daily cultivated spiritual power and his assistance in restoring her body. Ji Wuchang also required her protection in danger and a Shared Life Curse binding their fates; his death would cause her soul to scatter 24 49.

His unexplained supplies of spiritual power rapidly stabilized her soul. Watching his enlightenment, unusual breakthroughs, and extraordinary comprehension changed her view of him from a useful partner into a cultivator worth investing in 24 27 62 169.

Teacher and Protector

Ji Yaoyao taught Ji Wuchang the Wind and Thunder Great Void Steps during his flight from Zuo Yan. She later secured his agreement to join the Ji Clan without its usual restrictions, requiring only that he assist the clan if it faced trouble once he became powerful enough. This resolved her reluctance to pass the clan’s strongest combat technique to an outsider 60 75 169 170.

Their exchange of techniques became reciprocal. After losing a wager over how quickly he could learn the Great Sun Divine Fist, she gave him the Six Swords of Fission; he also supplied her with Heart-Treading Steps. Later, he transmitted the Zhan Clan Three Lives Technique to her 177 186 831.

She repeatedly guarded his breakthroughs, rescued him from dangerous opponents and artifacts, and lent him power in battle. Ji Wuchang, in turn, supplied soul-nourishing resources and pursued the materials needed for her resurrection 96 113 150 267 294 423 1158.

Resurrection

Ji Yaoyao spent years refining a Supreme skeleton until it became fully compatible with her Primordial Spirit. Once Ji Wuchang obtained Five Aggregates Precious Blood, she used it to grow flesh over the skeleton and return to life at the Supreme Realm Seventh Layer 335 1264.

She then left Heavenly Chen Academy to retrieve an important item from the Ji Clan and investigate the Zhan Clan. Acknowledging that she still could not defeat Zhan Wuyuan, she explicitly rejected a reckless confrontation. Ji Wuchang entrusted her with the Great Seal of Ten Thousand Ferocities and its resident beasts for protection 1264.

Reclaiming the Ji Clan

Finding her clan divided and compromised by Zhan Wuyuan, Ji Yaoyao secretly organized members opposed to surrender. Her faction remained weaker than its opponents and had to operate covertly until Ji Wuchang arrived with support from the Ji Family 1320 1321.

During their confrontation, Ji Yourong confessed to engineering the tomb disaster and murdering her father and brother. Ji Family elders defeated him and delivered his Primordial Spirit to her. Ji Yaoyao searched his soul, destroyed it, and purged everyone connected to him or the Zhan Clan before assuming leadership 1322.

After spending the night with Ji Wuchang, she remained behind to put the clan in order and pursue the Supreme Realm Eighth Layer. She gave him a storage ring containing a piece of the Heaven-Devouring Jar 1323.

War Against the Nine Nether Lineage

Following her successful breakthrough, Ji Yaoyao witnessed Zhan Wuyuan’s final defeat by Azure Dragon and White Tiger, the Half-Saints assigned to protect her on Ji Wuchang’s orders 1362 1367.

She and Yu Ling then decided to join the war. Invoking the Ji Family’s call to arms and displaying Yu Ling’s Half-Saint pressure, Ji Yaoyao rallied nearly one hundred thousand cultivators from Yan Province. She subsequently accompanied Yu Ling to Great Immortal Province after the Nine Nether Lineage appeared there 1367 1371.

Her loyalty to Venerable Fengxing and her clan drives a lasting desire for revenge. She can nevertheless distinguish determination from recklessness: after resurrection, she refuses to challenge Zhan Wuyuan before she is ready. Against internal enemies, she is uncompromising, executing Ji Yourong and eliminating his faction rather than leaving potential avengers alive 27 1264 1322.
