Background / History
Elopement with Ah Yin
Tang Hao eloped with Ah Yin, the hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor in human form. While she was pregnant, they stayed in a secluded cottage and planned to return to the Clear Sky Sect before their child’s birth. Tang Hao promised to take her as his wife regardless of opposition to her Soul Beast identity 20.
When Ah Yin feared rejection by his family, Tang Hao insisted that their child’s Clear Sky Sect bloodline would secure the sect’s protection. He expected his grandfather and the elders to offer only public reprimands, and trusted the sect’s defensive formation to withstand several Titled Douluos 21.
Spirit Hall’s Ambush
Spirit Hall intercepted the couple before they reached the sect. Tang Hao evaded Light Feather Douluo’s opening arrow and shielded Ah Yin, but Qian Xunji arrived with additional forces and blocked their escape. Tang Hao refused an offer to leave Ah Yin behind in exchange for his own survival 21 22.
After Tang Hao wounded Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo, Qian Xunji confronted him personally. The Supreme Pontiff openly identified Ah Yin’s Soul Ring, Soul Bone, and research value as his reasons for pursuing her. Tang Hao broke through to Level 90 during their confrontation, survived Angel’s Glory, and escaped with Ah Yin under cover of smoke and debris, severely wounded and depleted 23 24.
Qian Xunji then ordered Light Feather Douluo to finish him. A blood-black presence associated with the Asura Demon Sword shattered her ninth Soul Skill. Chen Qianqiu subsequently devoured its baleful aura, and Qian Xunji withdrew his forces 25 26.
Return to the Clear Sky Sect
The mysterious presence frightened Tang Hao as well: he sensed that it had protected the unborn child and privately wondered whether something was unusual about him. Rather than share his suspicions, he told Ah Yin that Heaven had punished Spirit Hall and continued toward the sect 27.
Tang Wei imposed only a few days of confinement and a scolding after their return. During later peace talks, Qian Xunji promised to stop hunting Ah Yin, while Tang Wei handed the Four Great Clans over to Spirit Hall 28.
Tang San was subsequently born within the Clear Sky Sect. Nine bell tolls marked the celebration, and Tang Hao joined Tang Wei and the elders around the infant’s cradle. Meanwhile, a sect teacher promoted an embellished account of Tang Hao’s battle, claiming that he had escaped unscathed despite his actual injuries 24 37.
Appearance
- Fierce-looking face: His gentle smile around Ah Yin contrasts with his otherwise intimidating appearance 20.
- Large, rough hands: He handles Ah Yin’s pregnant belly with conspicuous care despite their size and texture 20.
- Young but imposing bearing: Chen Qianqiu describes his presence during the confrontation as resembling a “devil incarnate” 22.
Personality
Tang Hao is openly affectionate toward Ah Yin and fiercely protective of her. He rejects the idea that humans are inherently nobler than Soul Beasts, emphasizing her feelings, kindness, and innocence. His determination to protect her persists even when escape appears impossible 20 21 23.
His pride makes Spirit Hall’s treatment particularly infuriating: Light Feather Douluo and Demon Subduing Douluo discussing who should receive credit for killing him nearly provokes an immediate attack. Nevertheless, he can restrain himself and seek an escape rather than fight pointlessly 22.
His professed devotion to his family coexists with a strong concern for bloodline prestige. Although he promises Ah Yin that their child will be everything to him, he privately considers abandoning the child if it inherits Blue Silver Grass rather than the Clear Sky Hammer. He conceals this from her and rationalizes that they could have another child 20 27.
Abilities & Skills
Clear Sky Hammer
Tang Hao’s Tool Martial Soul is a heavy hammer capable of threatening opponents above his rank 21 23.
- Summons it immediately after evading Light Feather Douluo’s ambush 21.
- Enters a desperate combat state in which the hammer appears to become an extension of his body 23.
- Uses its blows and accompanying force to break Gui Mei’s ghost hands and wound him 23.
Clear Sky Body Protection
A defensive technique that condenses Soul Power into layered sky-blue shields 22 23.
- Activates all eight Soul Rings to protect both himself and Ah Yin 22 23.
- Withstands the poisoned, cutting petals of Yue Guan’s ninth Soul Skill 23.
- Holds under sustained bombardment, though Tang Hao’s presence visibly wavers beneath the pressure 23.
Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer
A hammer technique whose damage builds through successive strikes 23.
- Repeatedly strikes the same point on Yue Guan’s chrysanthemum shield.
- Breaks the shield within a few breaths, allowing a direct blow that sends Yue Guan into the mountainside 23.
Great Sumeru Hammer and Ring Detonation
Tang Hao combines Great Sumeru Hammer with the detonation of five Soul Rings to oppose Qian Xunji’s Angel’s Glory 24.
- Enlarges the Clear Sky Hammer to approximately ten meters, covering it in dark-gold light and dragon-like patterns.
- Temporarily pushes his power beyond its previous limit, enabling him to survive the clash and injure a Level 95 Titled Douluo.
- Consumes most of his Soul Power, Qi, and blood, leaving him gravely wounded during his escape 24.
- Does not provide him with a ninth Soul Ring; his documented breakthrough remains at the Quasi-Titled Douluo stage 24.
Relationships
- Ah Yin — His partner and the mother of his child. He calls her his wife, refuses to surrender her to Spirit Hall, and carries her away despite severe injuries. She supplies vitality to his wounds during their escape 20 21 25.
- Tang San — His son, celebrated as the Clear Sky Sect’s heir. Tang Hao shows affection after his birth, despite earlier private doubts about the child’s possible Martial Soul 27 37.
- Tang Wei — His grandfather and the Clear Sky Sect’s sect master. Protects him through largely symbolic punishment and negotiates peace with Spirit Hall 28.
- Tai Tan — A devoted subordinate who calls Tang Hao his master. Hopes Tang Hao will return with a son whom he can protect 11.
- Qian Xunji — The Supreme Pontiff pursuing Ah Yin. Tang Hao injures him in battle and vows revenge against Spirit Hall 24 25.
- Yue Guan and Gui Mei — Spirit Hall’s Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo. Both are wounded by Tang Hao despite holding a higher cultivation rank during their fight 23.
