Human Society and Shrek Academy

Gu Yue attended Eastsea Academy alongside Tang Wulin and Xie Xie before becoming a first-year student in Shrek Academy's Outer Court. At Eastsea, she defeated Xie Xie in single combat despite their similar cultivation ranks, keeping the agility-type fighter at a distance with her Elementalist abilities 10 15.

While watching Long Xiaoyao fight Zhuo Shi, she challenged her classmates' assumption that Zhuo Shi's higher rank guaranteed victory. She identified the superiority of Long Xiaoyao's true-dragon bloodline over Zhuo Shi's lesser-dragon lineage and correctly recognized his exceptional understanding of his Martial Soul 10 11.

Long Xiaoyao's strength alarmed her rather than reassuring her. With Soul Beasts confined largely to the Spirit Pagoda and the core of the Star Dou Great Forest, another outstanding human cultivator threatened their survival. She decided to leave Shrek sooner and prioritize gaining control of the Spirit Pagoda, setting aside Na'er for the time being 11.

Recruiting Li Chen

After the duel, Gu Yue sensed a Dark Holy Dragon King hatchling whose bloodline surpassed even Di Tian's. Believing that lineage had disappeared during the great war in the Divine Realm, she was bewildered by its survival. She initially avoided investigating openly because she feared exposing herself, but later recognized Li Chen as the source while accompanying Leng Yaozhu 12 14.

Once Leng Yaozhu accepted Li Chen as a disciple, Gu Yue confronted him privately. Li Chen claimed that his dragon bloodline was an inheritance from his deceased mother. Gu Yue accepted this explanation and concluded that he was a human–dragon hybrid preserving the Dark Holy Dragon royal line; she did not discover that his bloodline was a reward from the Tree of Sorrow 2 15 16.

Gu Yue proposed a joint takeover: she would control the Spirit Pagoda while Li Chen, the speaker's son, eventually controlled parliament. When he resisted identifying as a dragon, she used her superior bloodline to force him into Dragon Transformation. She secured his apparent cooperation by promising to spare his family and friends, then sealed his bloodline against detection and offered to educate and protect him 16.

Leaving Shrek for the Spirit Pagoda

Gu Yue formally withdrew from Shrek and moved to the Spirit Pagoda headquarters to study under Leng Yaozhu. Her training covered Soul Master development and her second profession, mecha design. Leng Yaozhu also took her to the Spirit Ascension Platform for combat practice 18 19.

Gu Yue used her time with Li Chen to teach dragon history and cultivate his loyalty. She gave him a silver bracelet that could summon her assistance in danger and planned to raise him into a powerful subordinate capable of taking charge of the council 18.

Tang Wulin confronted her after finding her dining with Li Chen. Gu Yue rejected his demand for an explanation of her departure, insisting that her decisions were her own. Although she offered to share the meal as friends, their argument ended with Tang Wulin leaving angrily 18.

Investigating Reincarnation

Following the West Mountain Tunnel incident, Gu Yue discovered that Li Chen's bloodline was evolving from the Dark Holy Dragon King toward the Dark Dragon King, one of the Nine Great Dragon Kings under the Dragon God. She connected the change to his contact with the reincarnated Long Xiaoyao and Ye Zhaolu and resolved to search for other reincarnated people 34.

Her interest extended beyond strengthening Li Chen. She hoped that reincarnated people might also stimulate her own bloodline, potentially allowing her to become the complete Silver Dragon King without merging with Na'er—or even return to the Dragon God's ancestral state. She acknowledged that this possibility was slim but considered it worth investigating 39.

When Li Chen claimed that his Tree of Sorrow could sense reincarnated people on the Star Luo Continent, Gu Yue agreed to accompany him. She planned to tell Leng Yaozhu that a clan elder was taking her traveling and to include a visit to Di Tian and the others in the Star Dou Great Forest. The journey had been agreed upon, but had not yet occurred in the documented events 39.

Experiencing Matchmaking Thread

During Mingdu's lockdown, Gu Yue guarded Li Chen while he condensed his fourth Soul Ring. Curious about its skill, Yue Lao's Matchmaking Thread, she voluntarily allowed him to test it on her without resistance 35.

The skill immediately overwhelmed her, prompting her to embrace Li Chen and lean in to kiss him. Long Xiaoyao's unexpected arrival startled her back to awareness before the kiss occurred. Embarrassed, she withdrew to her room, where she compared the intense induced affection with her weaker feelings for Tang Wulin 35.

Rather than abandon the experiment, Gu Yue decided to request further uses of the skill. She justified this as a way to master the emotion and understand humanity's weaknesses, although she also privately acknowledged wanting to experience it again 35.

Personality

Gu Yue is proud of her dragon identity and expects recognition of her authority. She demands that Li Chen address her as “my lord” and initially regards his attachment to his human family as an inferior trait. Her concern for Soul Beasts is genuine, but her proposed revival depends on controlling human institutions and ultimately defeating humanity 16 18 34.

She judges strength more carefully than her confidence might suggest. During Long Xiaoyao's duel, she weighs bloodline quality, technique, and combat judgment rather than cultivation rank alone. Nevertheless, she underestimates Li Chen's fourth Soul Skill because of its hundred-year Soul Ring and her own superior power 10 35.

Her hostility toward humanity coexists with curiosity about human cultivation and emotion. Li Chen repeatedly exploits this curiosity by allowing her to construct convincing but incomplete explanations for his abilities. Her insistence that human feelings cannot sway her is challenged by her response to Matchmaking Thread 15 16 35.
