Initially approaching him through Sea God Pavilion recruitment, she continued seeking him out privately after he declined to join Shrek. She arranged Long Xiaoyao's match against Zhuo Shi, but became furious when she found him dining with Ye Zhaolu and Li Chen. Long Xiaoyao rejected her claim to oversee his friendships and asked her to leave. Cai Yue'er instead ordered his guests out of Shrek and attempted to slap him. Ye Zhaolu caught her hand, revealed her Bright Phoenix Martial Soul, and overwhelmed her silver moonlight 6 7 8.

The resulting ambush at the West Mountain Tunnel was carried out by Leng Yulai, Dark Phoenix, and Na Nali, Dark Bell. The attackers revealed Cai Yue'er's involvement to Long Xiaoyao. He survived by recovering his past-life memories with the Dream Memory Hammer, leaving Cai Yue'er afraid that the Heavenly Kings' capture would expose her 22 23 25.

Arrest and Torture of Ye Zhaolu

Seeking another target, Cai Yue'er forced her way into the Federal Research Institute and interrupted Ye Zhaolu's experimental Martial Soul Reshaping Surgery. Discovering the Blood-Red Demon Puppet, she declared Ye Zhaolu an Evil Soul Master, killed her assistant A Lan before she could explain the operation, and seized Ye Zhaolu while her Soul Power was depleted. Shrek publicized the arrest, while Ye Zhaolu was accused of arranging the attack on Long Xiaoyao. Death

Cai Yue'er held Ye Zhaolu hostage at the Federation Court, threatening her neck with silver light. Long Xiaoyao pierced both women with his Dark Dragon Claw, deliberately avoiding Ye Zhaolu's vital points while destroying Cai Yue'er's Soul Core. He escaped with Ye Zhaolu, leaving Cai Yue'er mortally wounded 28 30.

Long Yeyue found her dying in the dungeon. Before her death, Cai Yue'er confessed that she had brought the two Heavenly Kings to Mingdu and urged Long Yeyue to deal with them quickly 29.

Posthumous Exposure

Li Chen recovered A Lan's damaged recording, which documented Ye Zhaolu's surgery and captured Cai Yue'er admitting that she had wanted Long Xiaoyao killed.
