As his consciousness settled into complete stillness, Lin Xing truly felt the power surging within him.
He sensed two forces within his body. They were somewhat similar, but fundamentally different.
One came from Fufu, and was comparatively gentler. The other was the power the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale had given him.
This power felt somewhat fiercer.
Under normal circumstances, the power within him came from the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale. Even the power used to summon Fufu into reality came from the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale.
The machine was like a power source, constantly generating power within him in an extremely stable manner.
This power would keep accumulating inside him, increasing his own capacity bit by bit and strengthening his body.
After figuring out where the two forces came from, Lin Xing held out both hands.
A pale blue orb and a blue-gold orb condensed above his palms, one in each hand.
"Light Realm Power?"
Dispelling the orbs in his hands, Lin Xing imitated what he had seen in movies before and quietly began circulating the power within his body.
He actually had a few thoughts of his own about what Chen Xin had said earlier.
There was something wrong with the rules of the Douluo Continent, especially Self-Created Soul Skills. Those were downright absurd.
Everyone said Self-Created Soul Skills were incredibly difficult to develop, but in practice, they didn't seem like much.
In the original story, only Feng Xiaotian's could really count as a difficult Self-Created Soul Skill. As for Tang San's Blue Silver Thorn Array...
Lin Xing could only call it absurd. Although it was classified as a Self-Created Soul Skill, all he had actually done was slightly alter the activation mechanism of his fourth Soul Skill.
Yet despite being able to create a new type of Soul Skill simply by making such a slight change to its triggering mechanism, not a single person in the original story had tried it.
And then there was the whole matter of Self-Created Soul Skills.
This really wasn't just Lin Xing thinking too highly of himself.
Lin Xing reached out and casually shaped a ball of water. It kept changing shape in his hand until it finally became a longsword.
Lin Xing even felt that, as long as he wanted to, he could conjure countless water swords in midair to attack his enemies.
Their power would also gradually increase with the strength of his power output.
That struck Lin Xing as absurd. Extremely absurd.
Perhaps it was because his power was fundamentally different from Soul Power, but to Lin Xing, creating a few offensive skills really wasn't all that difficult.
But why were the people of the Douluo Continent so... well... it was hard to comment.
Rather than Chen Xin taking him as a disciple, Lin Xing even felt that, setting aside strength and combat experience, it would have made more sense for him to take Chen Xin as his disciple.
The only explanation was a problem with the Douluo Continent's rules.
And then there was that absurd Slaughter City.
Only ten people could fight in each match, and the gap between the participants' win counts in the next match couldn't exceed five. If someone won ten matches in a row there, then everyone facing him in the next match would have at least fifty lives on their hands.
In other words, a ten-win-streak match required at least six hundred deaths. By eleven consecutive wins, the death toll shot straight up to fifteen hundred, never mind twelve or thirteen consecutive wins after that. The number of deaths climbed like a rocket.
By that calculation, producing a single Slaughter God with a hundred consecutive wins would require the deaths of roughly 13.7 billion people.
And that was only the bare minimum. After all, no one could guarantee that every match would meet precisely the minimum head count.
Tang San, Hu Liena, Tang Hao, Bibi Dong, the King of Slaughter...
Even assuming every person's wins came at the absolute minimum, producing just one would require 13.7 billion deaths.
What, did the Douluo Continent's Evil Soul Masters have a respawn fountain? Did they automatically come back to life after dying?
Or did Slaughter City itself constantly produce Evil Soul Masters?
Was that why, after Tang San destroyed Slaughter City in the original story, Evil Soul Masters came swarming out in such numbers that they remained a major force tens of thousands of years later?
Absurd. So fucking absurd.
The rules of the entire Douluo Continent were absurd.
Propping his head on one hand, Lin Xing sat there deep in thought.
After quite a while, some sounds came from outside, accompanied by that oppressive presence Lin Xing knew so well.
Lin Xing emerged from his thoughts. No matter how absurd the Douluo Continent was, at least he was standing on it now, wasn't he? However absurd the things he encountered, he would have to bear them.
After getting to his feet, Lin Xing strode out of the tent without hesitation.
Outside, Chen Xin descended from the sky with a little girl in his arms. She wore an extremely lavish pale blue princess dress, and her little face was exquisitely delicate.
All he could say was that, absurd as the Douluo Continent was, one undeniable fact was that some of the little girls here really were beautiful.
But Lin Xing had no interest in her. Having Fufu was enough for him, and Fufu was very cute too.
Watching Chen Xin descend from high above, Lin Xing considered how he should address him. Was he supposed to just call him Master?
That felt a little hard to get out.
Lin Xing's mind raced, and he finally decided to call him Teacher.
He couldn't have been more familiar with that form of address. Or rather, there wasn't a child in China who wasn't familiar with it. At school, whenever they saw an unfamiliar adult, they simply called them Teacher.
Calling him Teacher now didn't seem strange either.
With that thought, he felt a little more at ease.
Only after Chen Xin had fully landed did Lin Xing make a proper imitation of the pose he had seen in films and television.
He clasped his hands in front of himself, then bowed slightly, and finally...
"Teacher."
"Mm."
Chen Xin nodded, finding nothing amiss, and set the little girl in his arms down very, very gently.
"Get to know each other, Rongrong. This is the disciple your Grandpa Sword just took in. His name is Lin Xing."
"Lin Xing, this is Rongrong. She's the sect master's daughter, and my most beloved granddaughter."
"Mm..."
Lin Xing fell silent for a moment, weighing how he should address Ning Rongrong. Calling her Rongrong outright was too intimate, while using her full name was too impolite.
"Miss Rongrong."
In the end, he chose to add "Miss," though the form of address felt a little strange to him. Miss and all that... wasn't that far too awkward?
"Hahahaha..."
"I never thought you'd get shy over a form of address, A-Xing."
Fufu's laughter rang out in his mind. Lin Xing silently blocked her out, firmly refusing to admit that calling someone "Miss" had made him a little shy.
"Hmph, hmph. So you're Grandpa Sword's disciple... Your looks... aren't bad, but I wonder how strong you are. Still, if Grandpa Sword offered to take you as his disciple, you must be pretty amazing, right?"
The current Ning Rongrong wasn't yet as lawless as she was in the plot. At least in front of Chen Xin, she looked like nothing more than a somewhat spoiled little girl.
"I wouldn't call myself amazing. I wasn't planning to take a master in the first place. Teacher took pity on me and insisted on taking me as his disciple, and I couldn't very well let his kindness go to waste."
