Background / History

An Unexplained Prior Connection

Fufu knows Lin Xing before their apparent first meeting on the Douluo Continent. When questioned, she admits that they know each other but refuses to explain how they met. Lin Xing suspects a previous journey together in Teyvat, but she does not confirm his theory. Her familiar use of “A-Xing” further reveals their closeness 2 4.

Awakening in Star Dou Great Forest

Fufu first appears when Lin Xing awakens his power while fleeing a Soul Beast. She kills the beast with Splendor of Tranquil Waters, and he later awakens with his head resting on her thighs. Although she tries to maintain an aloof demeanor, he quickly recognizes it as an act 1 2.

Lin Xing initially identifies her as his Martial Soul. The subsequent appearance of the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale reveals a more complicated arrangement: the Oratrice is his true Martial Soul, while Fufu accompanies it. She objects strongly when he calls her an “extra” 2.

Meeting Lin Xing’s Companions

At Lin Xing’s invitation, Fufu introduces herself to Chen Xin and Ning Rongrong. Rongrong immediately embraces her, and Fufu reciprocates by picking her up. Her public appearance allows Lin Xing to explain his sword and summons without revealing the Oratrice 8.

After the group returns to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Fufu demonstrates a previously unrevealed mental-restoration ability to relieve Lin Xing’s exhaustion. Rongrong then takes her away to get little cakes 24.

Personality

Fufu is theatrical, proud, and eager to be recognized as impressive. She initially performs an aloof Hydro Archon persona to change Lin Xing’s impression of her, but her reactions repeatedly undermine the act. Praise quickly improves her mood, while teasing often leaves her flustered or sulking 2 3 19.

Her affection is frequently concealed beneath haughty language. She worries when Lin Xing explains that maintaining her manifestation could endanger him, and later scolds his recklessness while offering to restore his exhausted mind. Lin Xing recognizes that her easily coaxed behavior reflects her trust in him, rather than how she would treat a hostile stranger 3 19 24.

She dislikes the darkness and boredom of Lin Xing’s Sea of Consciousness, enjoys playing with Ning Rongrong, and has a pronounced fondness for little cakes. Promises of cakes can persuade her to forgive Lin Xing’s teasing 3 8 12 19.

Water Manipulation and Domain Support

Fufu’s comparatively gentle power allows Lin Xing to shape water into weapons and restraints 7 11.

• Water weapons: Swords and needles used to attack or interfere with Soul Power circulation 7 9.
• Water ring: A technique developed by Lin Xing that tracks a marked target, constricts around them, and drives water spikes inward 11 12.

• Allow Chen Xin’s sword Qi to pass through them during his combat test 8.
• Can change forms to provide healing over a wide area 8.

Physical and Mental Healing

Fufu can summon an Oceanid to restore injuries, including while manifested separately from Lin Xing 18.

• Instantly heals Chen Xin’s wounds after his spar with Lin Xing 18.
• Her healing power, used by Lin Xing, also treats Gu Rong’s injuries and hidden ailments 23.
• Summons a smaller, deeper-blue Oceanid inside Lin Xing’s Sea of Consciousness to rapidly relieve mental exhaustion 24.
• Early healing does not eliminate the physical strain of possession; Lin Xing can still become weaker after leaving Fufu mode 4.

• Lin Xing — Host and trusted companion with an undisclosed shared past. Their relationship combines frequent teasing, familiar affection, and mutual reliance in battle and recovery 2 4 19 24.
• Ning Rongrong — Affectionate playmate who calls her “Big Sister Furina.” Fufu welcomes her embraces, praises her advancement, and accompanies her to get cakes 8 16 24.
• Chen Xin — Lin Xing’s teacher, who recognizes her as an unusual conscious humanoid Martial Soul. He becomes jealous of the attention Rongrong gives her; Fufu later heals his sparring injuries 8 18 19.
