Personality

Lin Xing is cautious about threats he cannot handle. Early on, he recognizes that borrowed power cannot compensate for his poor reactions and combat awareness, so he flees dangerous Soul Beasts rather than testing himself recklessly. He initially avoids involvement with major sects, but accepts Chen Xin’s discipleship for its practical benefits 4 5 6.

With people he trusts, he is boastful, mischievous, and deliberately provocative. He teases Furina to watch her reactions, questions Chen Xin’s private life, and conceals tricks during sparring. His apparent modesty toward strangers is largely a courtesy rather than genuine self-doubt 10 13 16 18.

His confidence is backed by persistence. During the Scaled Beast fight, he continues pursuing Intent for hours despite repeated injuries and Furina’s suggestion that he stop. He also spends an entire night refining a control technique instead of relying solely on powerful attacks 11 15.

Lin Xing’s true Martial Soul is a judgment device resembling a set of scales. Its operating knowledge appears directly in his mind upon manifestation 2.

• Tribunal: Can bring an opponent into a trial space and summon Neuvillette to enforce its rules. Force is prohibited before Lin Xing ends the trial and attacks 2 5.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Awakening in Star Dou Great Forest

Lin Xing arrives without an accessible Martial Soul and is nearly killed by a poisonous-clawed Soul Beast. His desperate awakening brings out Furina and Splendor of Tranquil Waters. He then discovers the Oratrice, experiments with shared senses, and begins learning the unusual costs of his powers 1 2 3 4.

Chen Xin’s Disciple

After fleeing two battling Soul Beasts, Lin Xing encounters Chen Xin and unsuccessfully tries to discourage recruitment by explaining that his Martial Soul cannot receive Soul Rings. He ultimately accepts discipleship to address his lack of combat experience, while keeping the Oratrice secret 5 6 8.

Training culminates in the Scaled Beast hunt, where he awakens Intent and creates his first domain. His subsequent spar with Chen Xin escalates until the Sword Douluo uses Seven Kill Avatar to tear through the domain space 15 17 18.

Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect

Chen Xin arranges a ten-minute wager against Gu Rong, who must suppress his strength to rank seventy and refrain from using his Martial Soul Avatar. Lin Xing injures his palm, then heals both the wound and hidden ailments, impressing the sect’s leadership 21 22 23.

His contributions extend beyond sparring: his techniques inspire Chen Xin, he upgrades Gu Rong’s fourth Soul Ring, and he eventually inscribes Clear Abyss onto Ning Rongrong’s Martial Soul 25 26 28.

Departure for Sunset Forest

After a year consolidating his abilities, Lin Xing leaves to gain experience independently. His first destination is Sunset Forest, where he hopes to visit the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and possibly encounter Dugu Bo. He is aware of both its Immortal Herbs and the skeletal remains beneath it, though he has no immediate interest in the latter 28.
