Personality

Pikachu is affectionate and playful around Su Lin, readily leaping into his arms and rubbing against his clothes. Pikachu prefers roaming outside the Poké Ball to remaining inside its space, and enthusiastically turns Su Lin’s dormitory mattress into a trampoline 6 8.

Despite an initially fierce display when summoned, Pikachu becomes intimidated by the academy teachers’ stronger Soul Power and retreats into Su Lin’s arms once told they are not enemies. Against weaker opponents, Pikachu can be mischievous, teasing Xiao Feng throughout their match rather than immediately finishing him 8 49.

Pikachu also shows concern for Su Lin, cheering him on during training and nuzzling his hand after Thunderbolt Mode leaves him exhausted. After defeating the wolf king, Pikachu proudly returns and pats his own belly 24 26 27.

Lightning Sucker Punch

An agility-based assault skill that wraps Pikachu in lightning for an extremely fast, short-range dash 6.

• Used for both charging opponents and evading attacks, including Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass and Xiao Feng’s hammer strikes 17 49.
• Inflicts lightning collision damage on impact 6.
• Can be combined with Energy-Charging Thunder Shock to produce a lightning-covered, cannonball-like assault 17.

Energy-Charging Thunder Shock

A single-target burst attack that gathers lightning throughout Pikachu’s body. Its power increases linearly with charging time 6.

Growth Rules

• Cultivation inside the Pokémon Space is slow: Pikachu gains only 65 experience during the two months following the contract, despite learning three skills 5 7.
• Combat rewards depend on the opponent’s current cultivation and the battle’s intensity, not hidden background or former strength. Xiao Wu’s hundred-thousand-year origins therefore provide no special bonus 13.
• An immediate repeat match against Xiao Wu yields no additional experience 13.
• Only the first ten battles each day award experience. The wolf king battle takes place after midnight, allowing Pikachu to receive its reward after the previous day’s limit 22 24.
• A single battle can award experience for multiple opponents. Su Lin discovers this after the convoy battle 42.

History

Contract and Nuoding Academy

Su Lin subdues the Lightning Rat with mental power in the Soul Hunting Forest, forms a contract, and names it Pikachu. The connection produces Su Lin’s first yellow Soul Ring. Su Lin then selects three complementary skills—burst offense, mobility, and defense—for special training inside the Pokémon Space 5 6.

At Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy, Pikachu demonstrates the summoning function of Su Lin’s unusual Martial Soul. Su Lin explicitly introduces Pikachu to Xiao Wu as his battle partner, rather than a pet 8 9.

Pikachu becomes Xiao Wu’s sparring opponent. Unable to defeat Pikachu directly, Xiao Wu instead throws Su Lin, exposing the trainer’s vulnerability while his partner is occupied. Three months of sparring and special training sharpen Pikachu’s combat sense 13 16.

In a later wager, Pikachu defeats Tang San despite his evasive footwork, Blue Silver Grass, and Mysterious Jade Hand. Su Lin recalls Pikachu before its final attack can seriously injure him, winning a basic Perplexing Track Step manual 17 18.

Forest Training and Journey to Heaven Dou

Su Lin tests Pikachu against numerous Soul Beasts in the Soul Hunting Forest and establishes the daily experience limit. During a nighttime wolf-pack attack, Pikachu separates the nine-hundred-year wolf king from the camp and defeats it through lightning’s advantage over its dark attribute 22 24.

On the journey toward Heaven Dou City, Pikachu helps clear landslide debris. In Suotuo City, Pikachu attacks Ma Hongjun after he insults Xiao Wu, then escapes Flender’s attempted capture and returns through Su Lin’s recall ability 29 34 35.

Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect Convoy

Pikachu helps defend the sect’s convoy from bandits, initially holding up the poison spider Soul Ancestor Han Zheng. After Han Zheng traps and poisons Pikachu, Su Lin secures Ning Cheng’s support boosts 39 40.

Reinvigorated, Pikachu kills Han Zheng and joins Song Yuan in killing Shi Kusou. The battle earns 560 experience and establishes a connection with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Ning Fengzhi later rewards Pikachu with a Spirit Awakening Flower, which raises it to level 27 41 42 43 44.

Academy Challenge Matches

At Heaven Dou Royal Academy’s affiliated intermediate academy, Su Lin uses paid challenge matches to earn merit points. Pikachu defeats Xiao Feng, a rank-thirty-three Soul Elder, by evading his hammer attacks, disrupting him with electricity, and exhausting his Soul Power before knocking him out of the arena 47 49.

The victories attract students hoping to trade for Pikachu. As challengers queue for further matches, Su Lin announces a ten-match daily limit 49 50.

Relationships

• Su Lin — Contract partner and trainer. Their soul connection enables shared perception and communication; Su Lin treats Pikachu as a battle partner and regularly offers affection and reassurance 5 9 13.
• Xiao Wu — Companion and regular sparring partner. Pikachu trusts her enough to continue sleeping when she picks him up, despite having sensed her concealed identity 13 14.
