Background

Su Lin was one of ninety-three orphans sheltered by Wealth Village’s orphanage. A transmigrator from another world, he retained memories of his previous life from before birth and recognized his new home as the setting of Douluo Continent. His knowledge of the original story was incomplete, but hearing that Tang San had just awakened Blue Silver Grass with Innate Full Soul Power established his place at the beginning of its timeline 1 7.

Grant, the orphanage director and Wealth Village’s resident Soul King, became his adoptive father and principal benefactor. Su Lin chose to remain with him rather than accept Su Yuntao’s invitation to join Spirit Hall 2 50.

Personality

Su Lin is pragmatic about danger and unwilling to confuse courage with unnecessary risk. He calls a teacher rather than fight at Dorm Seven, worries about retaliation from stronger adults, and recognizes that his own fragile body remains a weakness even when Pikachu can defeat his opponents. After a disastrous forest expedition, he restricts subsequent training to safer areas 10 16 25.

His curiosity drives a methodical approach to cultivation. He tests experience rewards, studies Martial Souls and Soul Beasts independently, and combines meridian knowledge with electrical abilities to develop personal combat techniques. He skips elementary lessons because he considers independent training more useful, rather than abandoning study altogether 13 15 16 22.

He is affectionate toward his companions and deeply grateful to Grant, but also opportunistic and deceptive. His initial interest in Xiao Wu partly concerns her protagonist status and potential experience rewards; their daily companionship later becomes genuinely important to him. He similarly invents a divine inheritance to win Ah Yin’s cooperation and uses limited match availability to increase his earnings 27 28 30 31 50.

Su Lin describes Pikachu as a battle partner rather than a pet. He avoids unnecessary Soul Beast killing, explaining that he does not need to slaughter them for Soul Rings and believes living beings are equal 9 23.

Abilities & Skills

Poké Ball Martial Soul

Su Lin’s Martial Soul establishes contracts with Soul Beasts and allows them to fight alongside him 3 9.

  • Contract-based Soul Rings: Contracting Pikachu produces his first Soul Ring and grants Electric Arc, combining Soul Beast capture and ring acquisition 5.
  • Summoning and recall: Releases contracted partners into battle and can recall them from a distance within an unspecified range 8 35.
  • Shared perception: His initial contract exposes him to fragments of Pikachu’s memories 5.
  • Additional contracts: New contracts become available as his level rises, provided he has an empty Soul Ring slot 42.
  • Quality restrictions: His panel rejects numerous prospective first partners as unsuitable, forcing Grant to search for further candidates 3.

Status Panel and Training System

An illusory panel visible only to Su Lin tracks his level, experience, skill proficiency, Pokémon slots, and available skills 2 5.

  • Soul Beast assessment: Identifies species, evaluates base stats, and recognizes transformed Soul Beasts such as Xiao Wu 8 30.
  • Skill selection: Lets him select learnable techniques for Pikachu and initiate special training 6.
  • Battle rewards: Pikachu gains experience from combat much faster than from meditation alone 7 20.
  • Daily limit: Only the first ten battles within the relevant daily period yield experience; fighting beyond that limit grants none 22 24.
  • Repeated opponents: Immediately repeating a spar with Xiao Wu produces no additional reward, though later training continues to use her as an experience source 13 15.
  • Group battles: One battle can award experience for several opponents. The convoy battle provides 560 experience in total 42.

Pokémon Space

The Poké Ball contains an internal space used for housing, recovery, and training 6 24.

  • Accelerated recovery: Pikachu restores stamina and Soul Power faster inside than outside 24.
  • Special training: Selected skills trigger dedicated training within the space 6.
  • Temporary accommodation: When Pikachu is outside, the space can accommodate one additional Soul Beast that enters willingly or is unconscious 29.
  • Mental amplification: Su Lin’s mental power is greatly amplified inside, allowing communication with Ah Yin’s faint consciousness 30.
  • Nourishment: The space supports Ah Yin’s gradual recovery 30 42.
  • Storage limitation: It accepts Soul Beast-related objects but ejects ordinary supplies, clothing, and scrolls 33.

Soul Beast Detection

By channeling Soul Power through the Poké Ball, Su Lin detects nearby Soul Beasts with sufficiently high base stats 30.

  • Produces radar-like signals indicating approximate locations within two hundred meters 30.
  • Leads him to Ah Yin’s Blue Silver Emperor body behind a waterfall 30.

Electric Arc

His first Soul Skill generates electrical discharges associated with Pikachu’s innate traits 5.

  • Early limitation: Its first manifestation barely extends beyond his palm and vanishes before reaching a chair 5.
  • Paralysis: By level 2, it interrupts the pounce of a two-hundred-year Wind-Patterned Cheetah 26.
  • Internal stimulation: He develops its use along his meridians as the foundation for Thunderbolt Mode 16 26.
  • Utility: Provides light while exploring Ah Yin’s cave 30.

Thunderbolt Mode

A self-developed application of lightning circulated through his body to enhance movement and explosive physical performance 26 29.

  • Enables him to combine electrical paralysis with close-combat throws against a two-hundred-year Soul Beast 26 27.
  • Supports rapid travel through woodland 29.
  • Causes substantial fatigue, soreness, and trembling after strenuous use 27.

Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track

Su Lin obtains the Tang Sect movement manual by winning his wager with Tang San 16 18.

  • Pursues it to improve his survival when Pikachu is occupied or unable to protect him 16.
  • Memorizes its circulation routes and methods of exerting force, then incorporates it into forest practice 22 25.

Meridian Knowledge and Soft Skills

Xiao Wu teaches Su Lin human anatomy, acupoints, grappling, and Soft Skill techniques 14 15 26.

  • Learns the twelve primary meridians, conception and governing vessels, and the locations and affiliations of 361 acupuncture points 16.
  • Corrects gaps in the continent’s rudimentary anatomical references with Xiao Wu’s guidance 14.
  • Applies an opponent’s forward momentum in throws, demonstrated against the Wind-Patterned Cheetah 26.

Pikachu’s Combat Training

Su Lin selects a three-skill loadout balancing offense, mobility, and defense 6.

Skill Function
Energy-Charging Thunder Shock Supplies burst damage for decisive attacks 6.
Lightning Sucker Punch Exploits Pikachu’s speed for rushing attacks and evasion 6 49.
Electric Halo Provides the defensive component of the initial loadout 6.
  • Regular sparring and internal special training develop Pikachu’s combat instincts 16.
  • Ning Cheng’s Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda can amplify Pikachu’s strength, speed, and Soul Power 40.

Equipment & Items

  • First-tier storage ring — Received from Spirit Hall for reporting Zhao Wuji’s hideout; stores money, clothing, and other ordinary possessions unsuitable for the Pokémon Space 36.
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track manual — Won from Tang San and studied during his forest-training period 18 25.
  • Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone — Obtained but deliberately left unabsorbed because his low Soul Power and child’s physique make absorption dangerous. He plans to reduce the risk through a future contract with Ah Yin 31.
  • Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect VIP card — A gift from Ning Fengzhi providing spending money and access to the sect’s businesses 43.
  • Spirit Awakening Flower — Given to Pikachu by Ning Fengzhi and subsequently fed to him by Su Lin 43 44.

Relationships

  • Grant — Adoptive father and benefactor. Provides cultivation instruction, protection, guards, and academy opportunities; Su Lin feels unable to repay his care 2 20 27 50.
  • Pikachu — First contracted Soul Beast and trusted battle partner. Su Lin names, trains, and directs him while treating him affectionately outside combat 5 6 9 27.
  • Xiao Wu — Close companion, sparring partner, and teacher in anatomy and grappling. She accompanies him away from Nuoding, and he seeks protection for her concealed Soul Beast identity 14 15 19 28 31.
  • Sean — Guard captain and protector. Their initial young-master-and-retainer relationship develops into mutual trust resembling that of an elder and junior 20 21 27.
  • Ah Yin — Sheltered in the Pokémon Space. Su Lin deceives her with his claimed divine inheritance, seeks her concealment knowledge, and intends to contract her later 30 31 42.
  • Tang San — Rival and source of Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track. Su Lin defeats him in a restricted wager but remains wary of his concealed weapons, poison, and stronger backing 10 16 18.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Repeatedly attempts to recruit him. Su Lin distrusts his practical expertise and refuses both his direct invitation and Tang San’s later approach 11 12 15 18.
  • Ning Cheng — Convoy ally whose support abilities work on Pikachu; invites Su Lin’s party to travel with the sect’s convoy 40 42.
  • Ning Fengzhi — Influential benefactor who rewards Su Lin for protecting sect disciples without requiring him to join the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect 43.
