Background / History

Xue Chen transmigrated to the Douluo Continent after being struck by a truck in his previous life. He emerged deep within an icy abyss during a major earthquake in the Far North, where the Snow Empress discovered him. She regarded him as a naturally born being like herself, raised him, and instructed him to call her his sister 1.

Despite retaining knowledge of the original story, he spent more than a decade without awakening a Martial Soul or learning what kind of being he was. The Snow Empress, Ice Empress, and Xiao Bai became his family, making him reluctant to leave the Far North even though he had considered exploring the human world and becoming a god 1.

During the procedure, he is more frightened of her dying alongside him than of his own death 2 3.

He is affectionate and teasing with the Ice Empress, recognizing the concern beneath her harsh words. Before leaving the Far North, he deliberately stays longer to keep her company and later insists that he must eventually learn to travel independently 6 7 8.

His previous-life knowledge makes him calculating about opportunities and secrets. He survives the painful replacement of his right arm and the opening of his Sea of Consciousness. The unexpected arrival of his system-granted Five Elements Qilin forces her to become a Wisdom Soul Ring rather than his second Martial Soul 2 3 4 5.

Before resting, she disguises his red, seven-gold-marked ring as an ordinary yellow ring to protect him from human greed. Xue Chen resolves to cultivate toward godhood so she can recover 6.

Departure and Shrek Admission

After accepting the Ice Empress’s gifts and spending additional time with her, Xue Chen leaves the Far North. He rescues Ling Luochen and uses the connection to pursue admission to Shrek Academy, where he also hopes to activate more system entries 7 8 9 11.

His talents provoke a recruitment struggle between the academy’s departments. Mu En resolves it by assigning both deans as his teachers. Xue Chen then chooses Mu Jin’s Class Nine over Zhou Yi’s Class One and selects Room 108 21 22 23 24.
