Background / History
Origins and Clear Sky Sect
Wang Dong is the daughter of God King Tang San, who divided his daughter into three equal parts. Her soul is incomplete, and her memories of the Divine Realm are sealed. Xue Chen regards her as distinct from Tang Wutong, identifying her as material for Tang Wutong’s eventual fusion 23 26 29.
She grew up surrounded by affection in the Clear Sky Sect. Younger male disciples scarcely dared approach her, and she was accustomed to receiving immediate attention and care. This sheltered upbringing leaves her particularly unprepared for Xue Chen’s refusal to accommodate her demands 26 27 28.
Becoming Xue Chen’s Roommate
Xue Chen deliberately arranges to choose his dormitory so that he can room with Wang Dong. Their first meeting goes badly when he enters while she is changing; the room’s door cannot be locked from the inside 23 25.
Wang Dong attempts to impose rules governing visitors, noise, cleanliness, and changing clothes. When Xue Chen rejects her authority, she attacks using her butterfly Martial Soul. He freezes her wings and the floor beneath her, sending her sliding out of the open window 25.
She returns with the Clear Sky Hammer and breaks through his ice wall. Although she withdraws the hammer before it strikes him, their collision sends both through the corridor railing onto the lawn below. Their struggle draws spectators and Mu En’s attention. While scrambling to stand, they accidentally kiss—the first kiss for both of them 26 27.
Humiliated, Wang Dong punches Xue Chen and retreats to their room in tears. That evening, his offer of barbecue as an apology produces a temporary truce. He agrees not to change naked in front of her but rejects her demand that he do all the cleaning, proposing alternating weeks instead 27 28 29.
Early Academy Life
Wang Dong enters Zhou Yi’s Class One, while Xue Chen attends Class Nine. During Zhou Yi’s strenuous running drills, she remains near the front despite being visibly exhausted 29 37.
Her hostility toward Xue Chen begins to coexist with attachment. After he spends two nights away, she finds their room cold and empty and worries that the academy’s interest in him may lead him to leave the freshman dormitories 40.
Another accidental intrusion while she is changing reignites their conflict. She strikes him with the Clear Sky Hammer, sending him through the railing again. His subsequent insistence that such incidents are normal between “brothers” infuriates her; she knocks him down and chokes him in a crowded walkway before agreeing to stop 43 44.
Joining the Tang Sect
Wang Dong helps Huo Yuhao finish Zhou Yi’s running assignment by carrying him through the final stretch under Martial Soul Possession. He thanks her for preventing his expulsion and offers her grilled fish 44 45.
At his stall, she reacts strongly to learning that Tang Ya is the Tang Sect’s heir. The sect’s name evokes an instinctive favorable response, and she is shocked to hear that the organization founded by Sea God Tang San has dwindled to three members 45.
She joins the Tang Sect alongside Xue Chen. Pleased when he says he will join because she has, she nevertheless dismisses the connection aloud. She then promises to support Huo Yuhao in Class One 46.
Appearance
Wang Dong has fair skin, short blue-and-pink hair, and a slender build. Her appearance and bearing attract attention even while she presents herself as a boy 25 29 44.
- Eyes: Described as phoenix eyes 28.
- Expressions: Blushes conspicuously when embarrassed, sometimes extending to her upper body or the tips of her ears 43 44.
- Martial Soul manifestation: A pair of butterfly wings appears when she activates the Light Goddess Butterfly 25.
Personality
Wang Dong is proud, quick-tempered, and accustomed to being indulged. She initially treats shared living arrangements as something she can dictate, and frequently responds to Xue Chen’s provocations with physical attacks. Beneath that aggression, she is sensitive to embarrassment and perceived mistreatment, crying after their public fight and accidental kiss 25 26 27 29.
She is reluctant to cultivate voluntarily. The narration attributes this partly to laziness and partly to her incomplete soul, which makes concentration difficult 29.
Her kindness is often concealed behind dismissive language. She carries Huo Yuhao to the end of his assignment because she is moved by his persistence, then downplays the favor. She is also observant enough to notice his reluctance to invite Xue Chen and privately asks whether the two have a grudge 45.
Good food readily softens her mood. Xue Chen’s barbecue helps end their first quarrel, and she later praises his grilling despite continuing to call him a bastard 28 46.
Abilities & Skills
Light Goddess Butterfly
Her butterfly-type Martial Soul manifests wings and supports aerial movement 25 26 27.
- Uses Martial Soul Possession to carry Huo Yuhao through the end of a running assignment 45.
- Returns to her dormitory through its window as a streak of golden light 27.
- Her wings can be frost-covered by Xue Chen’s ice, preventing them from saving her from her initial fall 25.
Clear Sky Hammer
Her second Martial Soul takes the form of a large, pitch-black hammer with considerable striking power 26 43.
- Shatters Xue Chen’s hastily created ice wall 26.
- Sends him crashing through a dormitory railing when he blocks a strike with his arms 43.
- She shows some restraint despite her anger, withdrawing the hammer before one collision and hesitating before another blow 26 43.
Latent Fusion Compatibility
Wang Dong and Huo Yuhao possess compatible Soul Power and the potential for multiple Martial Soul Fusion Skills, but neither has discovered this connection by the time they join the Tang Sect 46.
- Their lack of close contact leaves the compatibility unexplored 46.
- Xue Chen receives a Severed Contract Talisman capable of disabling two Soul Masters’ fusion skills and Soul Power resonance. He considers it suited to the pair, but does not use it in the documented scene 46.
Equipment / Items
- Storage Soul Tool — Holds her belongings, including the bedding she unpacks in the dormitory 29.

- Huo Yuhao — Classmate, fellow Tang Sect member, and undiscovered fusion partner. She helps him avoid expulsion and promises to look out for him in Class One 44 45 46.
