Life in the Far North

The Snow Empress was born from the Far North itself and became its foremost overlord. Its Soul Beasts regarded her as their queen, and she shared hundreds of thousands of years of friendship with the Ice Empress 1 2 7.

After a great earthquake, she investigated an icy abyss and discovered the newly born Xue Chen. Believing him to be another being nurtured by the Far North, she raised him and instructed him to call her his elder sister. He came to regard her as both a sister and a mother 1 2.

The Tribulation Crisis

A thousand years before the opening events, the Snow Empress attempted to imitate Di Tian and the Evil Emperor by condensing a Yin-Yang Complementary Soul Core. The attempt failed, damaging her origin and costing her a considerable portion of its power. With her seven-hundred-thousand-year heavenly tribulation approaching, she considered survival impossible 1 2.

She prepared a hundred-thousand-year snow lotus to seal her origin for reincarnation as a human. However, even reaching the maturity stage would not conceal her identity from Super Douluo of level ninety-five and above. She feared being discovered and reduced to another human's Soul Ring and Soul Bone 1 2.

Sacrifice to Xue Chen

Sensing formidable sealed power inside Xue Chen, she proposed sacrificing herself to awaken it and provide the foundation for his pursuit of godhood. Her plan was to become his second Martial Soul and Soul Ring while preserving her consciousness within him. Xue Chen accepted only after she explained that she would not perish completely, and the Ice Empress agreed to guard the ceremony 2.

The sacrifice awakened Xue Chen's Dragon Slaying Saber Martial Soul and the Goddess Illustrated Guide. Its first activation reward supplied him with the God-Level Five Elements Qilin, unexpectedly occupying the place the Snow Empress had intended to take as his second Martial Soul 3 4.

Unable to reverse the sacrifice, she instead became a Wisdom Soul Ring. Her Ultimate Ice origin initially resisted fusion with the Qilin's five elemental attributes, but the two eventually merged successfully. She emerged afterward as a conscious spiritual figure, exhausted but otherwise recognizable 4 5.

Recovery and Continued Protection

Before withdrawing to rest, the Snow Empress disguised her Soul Ring and warned Xue Chen against revealing either its true age or his uncontrollable saber Martial Soul. She also gave the unused snow lotus to the Ice Empress for her own approaching tribulation. She told Xue Chen that attaining godhood would allow her to recover 6.

Her sealed origin continued to protect him after he left the Far North: its presence frightened away a thirty-thousand-year Icefield Mammoth during his rescue of Ling Luochen 9.

The Snow Empress is openly affectionate toward Xue Chen, frequently embracing him, stroking his hair, and tending to his clothing. Her stern public bearing softens around him, though his unexpectedly direct declarations can leave her flustered 1 3.

Her sacrifice is a calculated attempt at survival rather than an unplanned act of self-destruction. She weighs reincarnation against human detection, makes arrangements to preserve her consciousness, and chooses a right arm Soul Bone with Xue Chen's future development in mind. Although the sacrifice genuinely carries risks, she deliberately emphasizes the danger to herself and Xue Chen to ease his reluctance to accept it 2 3.

Her protectiveness extends beyond the ceremony. Despite her exhaustion, she conceals the ring's true appearance before resting and leaves her snow lotus to the Ice Empress rather than letting it go unused 6.

The Snow Empress possesses the pinnacle ice attribute, Ultimate Ice. Her sacrifice adds this attribute to Xue Chen's Five Elements Qilin 4 6.

• Ice Extreme: Her Soul Ring grants only one Soul Skill, but it allows Xue Chen to use all her abilities and fully command Ultimate Ice 6.
• Attribute suppression: The ring's pressure overwhelms Ling Luochen's Ice Element Martial Soul despite the difference between elemental and beast Martial Souls 11.
• Freezing: Xue Chen freezes Wu Feng solid through Soul Power and Ultimate Ice alone, without activating a Soul Bone Skill 32.

• Power requirement: Xue Chen's Soul Power is insufficient to unleash the right arm bone's Three Absolutes during his confrontation with Wu Feng 32.

Although not a purely spiritual-type Soul Beast, her cultivation gives her spiritual reserves greater than those of most spiritual-type beasts 2.

• Xue Chen — Adoptive younger brother and ward, later the recipient of her sacrifice. He considers her both an elder sister and a mother; their shared objective becomes his attainment of godhood and her recovery 1 2 6.
