Background / History

Early cultivation and Gui Yuan’s arrival

Yue Guan began cultivating without knowing that his Martial Soul was the legendary Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum. Alone at the time, he chose the common Power Attack path for self-protection. Although he eventually reached Level 95, he regretted missing the opportunity to develop the immortal-grade Martial Soul through the Food System 3.

During a mission with Gui Mei, a mysterious power drew them into Qiankun Asking Love Valley. After answering several questions, they returned to their original location holding a baby, Gui Yuan. The boy possessed bloodline power from both men’s Martial Souls; the suggestion that the valley created him from their bloodlines remains Gui Yuan’s speculation. Yue Guan and Gui Mei raised him as their son and described him publicly as adopted 1 16.

Guiding Gui Yuan

Yue Guan attended Gui Yuan’s awakening and celebrated when the child manifested both the Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum and Ghost Martial Souls. He supported Gui Yuan’s decision to cultivate the chrysanthemum through the Food System and helped research suitable Soul Beasts 1 3 4.

Together with Gui Mei, he escorted Gui Yuan on hunts for his first three Soul Rings. Their expeditions included finding a six-hundred-year Vajra Vine, securing a Rejuvenation Vine, and jointly killing a Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear while obtaining a Raging Blood Iron Birch for Gui Yuan’s third ring 6 17 19 20.

Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well

At the hidden medicinal garden in Sunset Forest, Yue Guan recognized numerous immortal herbs, including a wild Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum. Although he believed absorbing it could help him reach Level 97, he gave it to Gui Yuan to improve the boy’s ability to protect himself. He selected Vajra Clematis for himself and Netherworld Shadow Flower for Gui Mei 13 14.

At Gui Yuan’s urging, the two elders agreed to conceal the garden from Spirit Hall and delay using their herbs. Their report to Bibi Dong mentioned only a chance discovery of a wild Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum 16 18 22.

Yue Guan also negotiated with the garden’s owner, Dugu Bo. After identifying his poisoning as Martial Soul backlash with help from Gui Yuan’s hints, Yue Guan offered treatment in exchange for access to medicinal herbs rather than insisting that Dugu Bo join Spirit Hall. He promised to deliver antidote pills within six months 17.

Defending his family

When Lie Yangtian demanded an explanation for Yan’s injuries after losing to Gui Yuan, Yue Guan confronted him in the Pope’s Palace. Revealing his Level 96 cultivation, he challenged the Level 94 elder to fight and rejected his attempt to excuse Yan’s conduct. Bibi Dong sided with Gui Yuan and punished Yan 28 29.

Despite qualifying to enter the Worship Hall after his breakthrough, Yue Guan showed little interest in doing so, regarding the position as an empty title under his improved circumstances 34.

Soul Core research and later duties

Yue Guan and Gui Mei became early experimenters in Gui Yuan’s Soul Core Theory. They first produced internal Soul Power cyclones, helped explain their findings to Bibi Dong, and guarded her during her own attempts. After her success, they used her experience to pursue complete cores themselves 31 32 34 40.

During Gui Mei’s attempt, Yue Guan intervened when his partner’s cyclone became unstable. Both eventually condensed Soul Cores. Yue Guan then explained the theory to Wang Mozhu and tasked him with recording the process and researching improvements and dangers 42 43 44.

Bibi Dong later granted the pair leave to visit Yue Guan’s sister’s grave with Gui Yuan. The three paid their respects at her memorial in the hills behind Spirit City. After Ghost Leopard Douluo and Ling Yuan Douluo were assigned to Bibi Dong, Yue Guan and Gui Mei were given more time to rest and spend with their son 44 45 49.

Appearance

• Voice and mannerisms: Has a slightly effeminate voice and delicate gestures, including raising his little finger while holding a teacup 1 31.
• Clothing: Wears a pale yellow robe after completing his Soul Core; changes into a plain-colored robe for his sister’s memorial visit 43 45.
• Bearing: Usually teasing and flamboyant, but markedly subdued when mourning his sister 45.

Personality

Yue Guan places family above personal advancement. His clearest demonstration is giving Gui Yuan the wild Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum despite its value to his own cultivation. His protectiveness also makes him cautious: he initially rejects Gui Yuan’s proposal to absorb a ten-thousand-year third ring and warns him to conceal his blood’s detoxifying properties 13 16 18.

He is expressive and playful around Gui Mei and Gui Yuan, frequently bickering with his partner and boasting about their son. Beneath that humor, he is openly vulnerable: Gui Mei’s dangerous Soul Core attempt brings him to tears, and Bibi Dong’s remembrance of his sister’s death anniversary leaves him struggling to speak 4 43 44.

His hostility does not prevent him from recognizing another person’s merits. Though he repeatedly clashes with Dugu Bo, he respects the man’s gratitude toward his benefactor and offers treatment without forcing him into Spirit Hall 15 17.

An immortal-grade, plant-type Tool Martial Soul cultivated along the Power Attack path 1 3 8.

• Its offensive development makes the chrysanthemum sharp like a blade, but does not automatically give Yue Guan’s flesh an Indestructible Vajra Body 3 8.
• Even his Martial Soul Avatar falls short of a true Indestructible Vajra Body 8.
• His shared Martial Soul with Gui Yuan allows the boy’s first Soul Skill to gradually improve his physique 8.

Two-Level Stillness Domain

A Martial Soul Fusion Skill shared with Gui Mei 16 23.

• Their original Martial Soul compatibility is approximately 50–60%; with both at Level 95, they have only a chance of restraining a Level 97 expert 23.
• Bibi Dong expects Yue Guan’s advancement to Level 96 to make restraining a Level 97 Super Douluo reliable 23.
• Their compatibility later rises to at least 80% during their Soul Core cultivation 43.
