Story Role / Major Arcs
Restaurant Encounter in Shrek City
Tang Ya’s dispute with Jiang Nannan over the restaurant’s last empty table draws in Xu Sanshi and Bei Bei. Recognizing all four allows Xu Zhengyang to confirm that he is living in the era of the Peerless Tang Sect 26.
The manager eventually arranges for them to share Xu Zhengyang’s table. Tang Ya remains indignant and comments on his solitary drinking, prompting Bei Bei to apologize on her behalf 27.
Attempt to Recruit Xu Zhengyang
After Xu Zhengyang leaves, Bei Bei identifies him as a formidable fighter and likely an accomplished blacksmith. Tang Ya enthusiastically agrees that such a recruit could help rebuild the Tang Sect, and the pair follow him outside Shrek City 28.
Xu Zhengyang rejects Bei Bei’s offer of friendship and assistance entering Shrek Academy. Tang Ya questions his apparent aversion to Shrek; when he subsequently dismisses the Tang Sect as a fallen power, she declares her determination to restore it 28.
Bei Bei’s Defeat and the Body Sect Suspicion
Tang Ya watches Bei Bei lose his spar with Xu Zhengyang and urges him to continue using his remaining Soul Skill, Tang Sect techniques, and hidden weapons. Bei Bei refuses to escalate an ordinary spar, acknowledging that his opponent has held back and that hidden weapons could leave both sides injured 30.
After Xu Zhengyang departs under the name Long Aotian, Tang Ya attempts to reassure Bei Bei, specifically arguing that the Dragon Whisker Needle could have threatened him. When Bei Bei theorizes that their opponent belongs to the Body Sect, she worries that its members appearing near Shrek might signal a larger plan. Bei Bei advises against provoking the sect without a major conflict 30 31.
