Background / History

Transmigration and Early Training

Lin Xi retained memories of an ordinary university life and of reading the Douluo novels. Recognizing that he had entered the second installment’s era, he feared becoming subject to Tang San’s control and made strengthening himself his immediate priority. With neither wealth nor inherited cultivation techniques, he initially depended on awakening a useful Martial Soul 1.

After discovering the Command Spell Martial Soul’s permanent enhancements and summoning function, he used a hundred-year Red Dragon Grass as a holy relic to summon Artoria. He abandoned plans to seize Huo Yuhao’s major opportunities because they appeared incompatible with his Heroic Spirit summoning system, though he remained interested in Electrolux 1.

Partnership with Huo Yutong

Seeking the original protagonist, Lin Xi instead encountered Huo Yutong, who initially introduced herself as Dai Yutong. He and Artoria rescued her from a thug, after which he asked her to promise never to join the Tang Sect. His initial intention was calculated: help her become powerful and secure her gratitude and loyalty 3.

He took responsibility for providing alternatives to the Tang Sect’s techniques, arranging swordsmanship and Magecraft training while secretly bringing food to her family. When stronger enemies pursued them, he and Huo Yutong fought together, and he supplied Artoria with enough power to annihilate the attackers using Excalibur 5 7 8.

Lin Xi subsequently offered Huo Yutong a partnership aimed at reaching the continent’s pinnacle and potentially the Divine Realm. Over the next six years, he helped develop her abilities and established a Soul Tool business using Black Emiya’s technical skills. After Huo Yun’er’s death, he accompanied Huo Yutong away from the Duke’s Mansion and traveled with her across the continent 8 9.

Star Dou Great Forest

Lin Xi brought Huo Yutong to the Star Dou Great Forest to await the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm. There, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion sought him out after sensing destiny power greater than her own. He exploited her interpretation by presenting his knowledge of future events as a destiny-type ability 9 11 12.

After she received Huo Yutong’s memories, Lin Xi gave her a signed note and suggested the human name Lin Qiu’er. He declined her invitation to join the forest’s forces because he would not abandon his human identity, choosing Shrek instead as the most practical route to opportunities his developing faction could not yet provide 13.

Shrek Academy

Lin Xi used his exceptional talent to secure Huo Yutong’s enrollment and core-disciple treatment in the Soul Tool Department. In exchange, he agreed to become Fan Yu’s disciple and join that department—an arrangement he already preferred over the Martial Soul Department 15 16 17.

He expanded Unlimited Blade Works’ connections through Xu Sanshi and recruited students expelled by Zhou Yi, including Tai Long and Yun Xiaopiao. Core members could earn a Mystic Water Pill after at least six months of diligent work. His later Soul Tool partnership with the Mysterious Nether Sect also supported Xu Sanshi’s position within his family 19 29 41.

After Lin Xi defeated Ma Xiaotao, Shrek’s two departments disputed who should train him. The resulting Sea God Pavilion decision made him the academy’s first dual core disciple, with resources equivalent to those of inner court disciples. He accepted politely but privately considered the offer insufficient; he had deliberately avoided owing Shrek favors because he did not intend to remain there permanently 33 35 36.

Electrolux and the Freshman Assessment

During the freshman assessment, Lin Xi’s team achieved ten consecutive round-robin victories. He then obtained the Spirit Devouring Fierce Blade and used contact with its curse to awaken Electrolux in his Sea of Consciousness. After hearing the truth about Lin Xi’s origins and plans, Electrolux purified the blade and fused its gold of life into him 44 45.

The two agreed that Lin Xi would help Electrolux become a god while Electrolux would help him oppose Tang San. Electrolux also raised the possibility that Lin Xi was a fighter sent by the Counter Force, but this remained a conjecture rather than an established origin 47.

Questioning Huo Yutong about her childhood convinced Lin Xi that her life had diverged from Huo Yuhao’s even before his intervention. He recognized that he had overestimated his own importance as a transmigrator and resolved not to repeat that arrogance. Huo Yutong reaffirmed her loyalty, and he embraced her and promised protection 48.

Personality

Lin Xi is pragmatic and highly calculating. He uses his knowledge of the original story to identify valuable allies, arrange opportunities, and control first impressions. He prefers to be recognized for his personal potential rather than merely as Unlimited Blade Works’ young master, and he approaches He Caitou partly because of the strategic importance of his former-prince identity 20 22.

His self-interest has limits. He refuses to exploit Wang Dong’s vulnerability despite knowing her concealed identity, believes kindness should be repaid, and will not discard his principles simply to avoid offending powerful people. Although willing to kill malicious enemies, he is disturbed by Huo Yutong’s early failure to understand the weight of death and undertakes to teach her otherwise 8 23 41 42.

His usual composure and polite exterior contrast with his genuine tenderness toward Huo Yutong and sharp mockery of Wang Dong. He is also capable of admitting fault: after Ma Xiaotao’s attack, he acknowledged that his anger partly came from his own failure to anticipate the danger and asked Huo Yutong to warn him if success made him careless 26 27 32.

Command Spell Martial Soul

Lin Xi’s Martial Soul supplies three Command Spells that replenish daily and can be spent on lasting growth or immediate support 1.

• Permanent enhancement: Raises his physical capabilities and Soul Power rather than providing only temporary boosts 1.
• Soul Ring aging: Gradually increases ring ages, strengthening the magical reserves available to his Heroic Spirits 1 9.

Heroic Spirit Summoning

His summons provide combat power, instruction, and technical expertise. Their available power remains constrained by his cultivation and Soul Rings 3 7 9.

Electrolux later transferred Artoria and Melusine from their Soul Rings into Lin Xi’s Sea of Consciousness after partially analyzing the Heroic Spirit Summoning Formula 45.

Swordsmanship and Close Combat

Artoria’s repeated training developed Lin Xi’s combat instincts from childhood 2.
