Clear Sky Sect and enrollment

Wang Dong grew up in the secluded Clear Sky Sect, where she was treated like a little princess. She enters Shrek Academy disguised as a boy to avoid harassment from male students, only for her assigned roommate, Lin Xi, to immediately identify her as Wang Dong'er and reveal his knowledge of her twin Martial Souls and thousand-year second Soul Skill 22 23.

When Lin Xi demands that she change rooms, Wang Dong challenges him to a fight for control of the dormitory. He defeats her without using his Martial Soul, throwing her onto the bed and restraining her. Rather than leaving, she concludes that his refusal to exploit her secret proves he can be trusted. When he offers to move out instead, she proposes compensating him for staying 23.

Lin Xi’s reluctance stems partly from his belief that she bears Tang San’s mark and could connect him to Huo Yutong. He subsequently warns Huo Yutong to limit her contact with Wang Dong 22 24.

Roommate treaty

The two settle their dispute through the First Edition of the Lin-Wang Roommate Treaty 24.

Adjustment to Shrek

Wang Dong initially struggles with the contrast between her expectations of Shrek and Zhou Yi’s harsh training and unpredictable expulsions. Seeing Lin Xi and Huo Yutong train against Artoria also forces her to acknowledge that Lin Xi’s superiority is not simply the result of her withholding her strongest abilities 26 27 39.

A side story set ten days after her arrival shows her considering leaving the academy. Lin Xi arranges a spar with Huo Yutong, whose emotional interference and swordsmanship defeat Wang Dong despite her lower cultivation. He uses the result to explain that effort can improve practical fighting ability even when it cannot erase every difference in talent. Wang Dong thanks them, asks Huo Yutong to bolster her confidence, and returns to cultivation with renewed determination 39.

Her subsequent dedication makes her one of the few students to survive Zhou Yi’s first three months of teaching. She also becomes interested in joining Unlimited Blade Works after learning that its recruitment benefits include Mystic Water Pills; no completed membership is established 30 36 37.

Personality

Wang Dong begins as proud, sheltered, and accustomed to being praised as a genius. She enjoys admiration and initially explains away her defeat by Lin Xi because she had not used her thousand-year Soul Skill or Clear Sky Hammer. Watching him train seriously makes those excuses impossible to maintain 23 27 40.

Although easily flustered by Lin Xi’s teasing, she is perceptive enough to distinguish his threats from his conduct. She trusts him because he has both the knowledge and strength to exploit her situation but chooses not to. Their constant bickering gradually increases her tolerance for insults, while his advice helps turn her frustration with Shrek into sustained effort 23 39.

She becomes increasingly attached to Lin Xi and admits that she chose the Control System because she did not want to be separated from him. She denies having a crush when confronted, though her reactions convince him otherwise. She also expresses jealousy at his affectionate behavior with Huo Yutong 38 40.

Spirit Devouring Fierce Blade Incident

• Leaves the dormitory at Lin Xi’s request while he purifies the cursed blade, warning him not to act recklessly 44.
• Later approaches his face while he is absorbing the gold of life. The narration attributes this immediate attraction to leaked vitality rather than simply romantic interest 47 48.
• Startles him upon his awakening and is thrown backward by his reflexive response. Embarrassed, she tries to follow when he abruptly leaves to find Huo Yutong, but cannot keep up 47 48.
