| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Chantless beginner water magic | 2 3 | Learns Water Ball after repeated failures under Rudeus’s guidance. The brothers discover that exhausting their mana can increase their reserves. |
| Transparent World awakening | 2 4 | First perceives Paul’s internal bodily movements while watching him practice; subsequently uses this perception to anticipate attacks. |
| Touki | 12 | Retrospectively stated to have learned bodily mana reinforcement overnight after first taking up a sword. |
| Beginner magic under Roxy | 8 | Remains at beginner level while prioritizing swordsmanship over his magic assignments. |
| Advanced magic | 12 | Reaches Advanced Rank by the end of Roxy’s two-year tutorship. Initially avoids pursuing Saint Rank spells because of their mana cost and limited usefulness in close combat. |
| Advanced swordsmanship | 14 15 | At five, uses Water God Style’s Flow to counter Paul and ultimately defeats him, earning permission to leave home. |
| God-Rank Healing Magic | 24 | Masters the spell while gravely injured, restoring damaged organs, bones, and his severed arm; the casting nearly empties his mana. |
| Intensive study of Laplace’s techniques | 26 | Greatly improves both magic and swordsmanship during confinement in the laboratory beneath the Dragon God Hole. |

| Magic Sword Style development | 57 | Develops simultaneous sword-and-spell combat after expanding his mana enough to sustain both. Can maintain powerful Touki and magic without rapidly exhausting himself. |
| Emperor-class overall strength | 73 | Can occasionally exchange blows evenly with Reida. This describes his fighting strength, not a documented formal promotion to Sword Emperor. |
| King Rank across all three sword styles | 114 | Reports to his family that he has trained all three styles to King Rank; the individual Water God Style and North God Style promotion scenes are not supplied. |
| Transparent World and selfless state combined | 161 | Defeats Atofe, but collapses from the strain of using these states. |
| Transparent Selfless State against Orsted | 183 | After recovering from being cut in half, evades Godblade attacks and commits his remaining mana to a full-powered strike. No formal God Rank advancement is established. |
| King-Rank spell study: Lightning | 206 | Memorizes Roxy’s incantation after one demonstration and begins chanting it. Successful casting is not confirmed in the supplied passage. |
Background / History
In his previous life, Luo Ge was Chinese, the only boy among six siblings, and an academically outstanding student. He and Rudeus discover that both died after being struck by trucks while saving someone. Luo Ge openly discusses his former life but does not force Rudeus to reveal experiences he finds painful 2.
Reborn as Paul and Zenith’s second son, Luo Ge initially struggles to regard his new parents as parents rather than peers because of his retained mental age. His attachment deepens over time: by ten, he explicitly recognizes the Greyrats as his family and resolves to protect them rather than pursue a return to his original world 11 79 88.
Appearance
- Face: Handsome, delicate features that become more defined as he grows; his brows, eyes, and facial contours strongly resemble Paul’s 4 7 57.
- Expression: Habitually keeps his eyes slightly narrowed, giving him a sunny or languid appearance 4 44.
- Build and growth: Sheds much of his childish appearance during his years in Laplace’s laboratory. By his reunion with Roxy, he stands half a head taller than her 26 155.
- Later styling: At thirteen, dresses in specially tailored silk-and-linen clothing and parts his hair down the middle while waiting for Roxy with a white horse 206.
Personality
Luo Ge is levelheaded in combat and willing to acknowledge an opponent’s superiority. He concedes to Gal after realizing that blocking a single strike has pushed him to his limit, rejecting the idea that determination alone can defeat Orsted. Nevertheless, surviving Orsted’s first attack turns becoming stronger into an obsession, driving him through exhausting daily training 53 73.
His teasing manner can become blunt, provocative, or manipulative. He blackmails Roxy into accompanying him, makes deliberately outrageous jokes, and frequently trades insults with Paul and Rudeus. He also feels guilty about exploiting Roxy’s kindness, tries to repay her with small acts of care, and later apologizes directly 14 16 156 195.
Family loyalty guides his decisions. He condemns Paul’s infidelity without blaming Lilia or Aisha, refuses to treat Aisha as merely a maid, and risks himself to save Rudeus. His kindness extends beyond relatives: he heals the woman whose family sheltered him and intervenes when Norn is targeted by traffickers 34 89 102 113 177.
Abilities & Skills
Transparent World
A system-granted perceptive talent that reveals bodily processes and movement cues normally hidden from sight 16.
- Reads blood and mana flow, muscle contractions, bone movements, and other internal changes to anticipate attacks 4.
- Supports rapid learning by exposing the mechanics of unfamiliar sword techniques 70.
- Detects emotional cues through heartbeat, breathing, gaze, and speech; it is explicitly not mind reading 67.
- Can conceal his presence, complementing Water God Style’s counterattacking approach 70.
- Does not guarantee victory: he can perceive Ghislaine’s and Gal’s attacks without being physically fast enough to answer them 16 52.
Transparent Selfless State
Combines heightened perception with a selfless combat state, allowing extremely economical evasive movement 161 183.
- Uses it in defeating Atofe and later against Orsted’s Godblade 161 183.
- Its strain leaves him unconscious after the Atofe battle 161.
- Does not establish that he has surpassed Orsted or attained a formal God Rank 183 196.
Three Great Sword Styles
| Style | Documented techniques and applications |
|---|---|
| Sword God Style | Uses explosive offensive movement, Silent Blade, and Sword of Light. His Sword of Light reaches Sword Emperor-comparable power while he is formally a Sword King 16 57. |
| Water God Style | Uses Flow to redirect attacks and turn defense into offense. Reida later teaches him perception, openings, killing-intent detection, and defensive responses 14 68. |
| North God Style | Initially learns from Paul, then seeks Auber’s instruction to improve unconventional movement and combat methods. Defeats Auber’s three-blade attacks by predicting and countering them 58 77. |
Magic Sword Style
Luo Ge’s self-developed fighting style combines a sword in his right hand with chantless magic in his left. Its effectiveness depends on sufficient mana and precise coordination between both forms of attack 57.
- Wind: Maintains distance and controls positioning 57 131.
- Fire: Adds offensive damage; he can compress fire-element mana around his blade 57 152.
- Earth: Provides defense 57.
- Water: Disrupts opponents 57.
- Healing: Restores injuries during combat 57 179.
- Detoxification: Counters harmful conditions and control effects 57.
God-Rank Healing Magic
Restores severe physical damage, including destroyed tissue, broken bones, displaced organs, and lost limbs 24.
- Regenerates his own severed arm and later heals Rudeus’s critical wounds 24 177 179.
- Restores Funika’s bodily functions, prompting Pierre to regard the treatment as a miracle 35.
- Initially consumes nearly all his mana; later training substantially reduces the danger of exhausting himself after one use 24 57.
- His recovery strategy still depends on surviving the initial injury—he cannot rely on healing if an enemy kills him instantly 179.
Touki and Mana Control
Uses internal mana reinforcement to enhance physical performance and defense 12.
- Sustains difficult climbing and wilderness survival in the Red Dragon Mountains 28.
- Expands his reserves through repeated daily mana expenditure; their growth stops when he is ten 57 152.
- Uses mana to break down alcohol and narrowly defeat Badigadi in a drinking contest 141.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Wooden swords — Early training weapons. One shatters when he kills his first monster; he also uses one during Ghislaine’s test 10 16.
- Iron sword — Destroyed by Orsted during their first encounter; its broken remains help convince his family that he died 21 26.
- Gullet — Gal’s personal magic sword, one of forty-eight forged by Yulian. Gal lends it to Luo Ge; it has exceptional toughness and Touki conductivity 52 53.
- Phoenix Elegant Dragon Sword — His later personal weapon as the Demon Sword King. One of the Sword God’s seven swords, forged by the Dragon Emperor and passed down from the first Sword God 57 131.
- Fighting God Armor designs — Finds the plans in Laplace’s laboratory, but not the armor itself; abandons the idea of relying on it and concentrates on studying techniques 26.
Relationships
Family
- Paul Greyrat — Father and first swordsmanship teacher. Their relationship mixes pride, affection, and combative teasing; Luo Ge sharply condemns Paul’s infidelity but values his support 4 113 114.
- Zenith Greyrat — Mother. Her disappearance becomes a central motive for his travels, and he promises Norn that he will bring her home 118.
- Rudeus Greyrat — Older brother and fellow reincarnator. Their bond includes rivalry and frequent roughhousing, but Luo Ge funds his journey and later confronts Orsted to save him 2 138 177.
- Norn Greyrat — Younger sister. Rescues her from a trafficker before their family reunion and later makes a hundred-year pinky promise to return with Zenith 89 118.
- Aisha Greyrat — Younger sister. Insists that she is family rather than his servant and promises to take her adventuring when she is older 102 118.
- Lilia — Family maid and Aisha’s mother. Luo Ge explicitly includes her among his irreplaceable family members; she remains deeply protective of him 101 116 117.
- Therese Latreia — Maternal aunt. Introduces herself after his return and invites him to visit the Latreia Clan 196.
Teachers and Rivals
- Roxy Migurdia — Magic teacher, childhood rescuer, and the person he says he respects most. Their reunion exposes mutual guilt over their separation; at thirteen, he tells her that he likes her more than other girls 7 93 156 204.
- Ghislaine — Escort and early swordsmanship mentor. Recognizes his potential after their spar but later returns home believing Orsted killed him 16 26.
- Gal Farion — Sword Sanctum master. Tests Luo Ge, recognizes him as a Sword King, and lends him Gullet 52 53.
- Reida — Water God Style teacher. Trains him in exchange for his guidance of Isolte and privately considers him capable of inheriting the Water God title 67 73.
- Auber — North God Style instructor and sparring opponent. Admits defeat after Luo Ge counters his attacks 58 77.
- Nina — Fellow Sanctum swordswoman and self-appointed rival. His relentless improvement inspires her training but eventually leaves her despairing over their widening gap 57.
- Isolte — Water God Style practitioner whom he agrees to guide. Watches his training and repeatedly discusses him with Reida 67 73.
Companions and Adversaries
- Nanahoshi Shizuka — Close traveling companion from his original world. He protects her and entrusts her to Roxy when leaving to find Rudeus; he denies that she is his wife or romantic partner 89 102 114 170.
- Orsted — Principal enemy and the benchmark for his training. Initially attacks him over his predicted role as Hitogami’s apostle; their later confrontation devastates the Red Dragon’s Lower Jaw 21 73 183.
- Hitogami — Supplies warnings and family information. Luo Ge distrusts him but accepts their arrangement as an exchange of information for assistance against Orsted 88.
- Badigadi — Drinking companion and combat opponent. Promises information about Kishirika after losing their drinking contest 141 152.
- Elinalise and Talhand — Former companions of his parents who help search for Zenith. Luo Ge thanks them and promises to help them in return 161 162.
- Lara — Persuades him to let her remain with him and claims to be his wife. Luo Ge later explicitly states that he never publicly acknowledged that claim 195 196 202.
