The Chaos Sword is pitch-black from end to end and radiates a mysterious, powerful presence 1.

• Lightning patterns: Lightning flows over its black blade after the tribulation; these patterns later resonate with the black jade fragment 3 12 13.
• Ancient markings: Patterns emerge along the blade during the Ten Thousand Corpses Devour Heaven Formation and shine when empowered by the fragment 6.
• Changing radiance: It emits blue light while illuminating ancient murals, purple light while absorbing tribulation lightning, and golden light during fragment resonance and the illusion trial 2 4 6 8.
• Combined form: As the Sword of the Falling Star, it shines brilliantly; star-chaos empowerment produces light extending tens of thousands of feet and a phantom Star Palace within the blade 27 29.

History

Acquisition and the Heavenly Mysteries Sect

Lin Wudao received the Chaos Sword when the Corpse Collection System dissolved Great Emperor Xuantian’s corpse into golden light. The system explicitly identified it as Xuantian’s imperial weapon. When Tianxuzi demanded the emperor’s relics, the system advised Lin Wudao to rely on the sword’s might, and he used it to resist the Heavenly Mysteries Sect’s encirclement 1.

During the ensuing lightning tribulation, Lin Wudao raised the sword against the descending bolts. While the tribulation healed and strengthened him, the blade absorbed lightning and grew stronger. Afterward, he used it against the Ancient Clan’s tomb keeper, destroying the corpse presented as Xuantian’s true remains with Nine Dragons Destroy the World 2 3.

Ancient Clan Secret Realms

The sword accompanied Lin Wudao through the Ancient Clan’s sacrificial grounds and floating-island secret realm. Its lightning helped destroy regenerating skeleton soldiers, and a lightning-charged thrust shattered the Spirit-Devouring Centipede’s crystal core 4.

Within the High Antiquity Illusion Array, tiny cracks appeared along the blade. Golden light then seeped from those cracks and scattered the surrounding shadows as Lin Wudao confronted his inner demons. In the bronze-mirror maze that followed, the sword pointed him toward ground patterns matching the sacrificial murals, helping him locate the route to the black jade fragments 8.

Sacrifice and Su Yao’s Custody

During the Star Palace crisis, Lin Wudao drove the sword into his palm to bleed onto the Star Spirit-Guiding Formation Diagram. He later used it to sever Su Yao’s whip before rushing toward the Lord of the Devil-Sealing Abyss and reversing the formation’s power into himself 21.

After his apparent disappearance, Su Yao held the sword outside his cultivation chamber. Its blade was dull and lightless, but her tears falling onto the hilt caused a faint glimmer. When signs of Lin Wudao’s survival appeared, she hurried toward the Star Palace carrying it. Lin Wudao subsequently wielded it against the returning Devil Master of High Antiquity 22 23.

Sword of the Falling Star

At the Ancient Witch Clan’s altar, Lin Wudao’s first falling-star Sword-Ray was reflected by the barrier. He then activated Falling Star Resonance and fused the Chaos Sword with a Jade Slip fragment, creating the Sword of the Falling Star and breaking through 27.

The combined sword later clashed with the Lord of the Devil-Sealing Abyss. After Lin Wudao infused it with star-chaos power, it restrained the enemy, drew out his power through the Star Palace’s runes, and traced an enormous Falling Star Formation Diagram around him 29.

In a later formation, Lin Wudao thrust the Sword of the Falling Star into a partially reconstructed Star Seal Diagram. Using the Chaos Heaven-Devouring Instruction, he began devouring the stellar chains’ power in reverse 32.

Sword Qi and Technique Channeling

The Chaos Sword channels Lin Wudao’s spiritual power and cultivation techniques into ranged attacks, dragon manifestations, and concentrated strikes.

• Dragon-Luring Break: Conducts spiritual power into the ground, releasing three enormous black dragons against surrounding enemies 2.
• Sword Control Technique: Emits countless streams of black Sword Qi to intercept the tomb keeper’s black chains 3.
• Nine Dragons Destroy the World: Condenses nine spiritual-power dragons around the blade before launching them at the target 3.
• Gale Break: Transforms Sword Qi into a hurricane that drives back three Heavenly Mysteries Sect disciples 5.

The blade absorbs tribulation lightning and serves as a conduit for Lin Wudao’s lightning techniques.

Lightning–Fire Fusion

Through Lin Wudao’s techniques, the sword combines purple lightning and crimson flame into offensive and defensive forms.

• Two-colored pillar: Melts the ground into lava and destroys the Flame Demon’s phantom 12.
• Concentrated energy sphere: Strikes the Thunder-Devouring Demonic Wolf while the Heavenly Mysteries Sect’s sword formation prevents its escape 13.
• Thunder and Fire Immortal Refining: Reduces a cursed tomb-guarding Yin soldier to ash 15.
• Thunder and Fire Scorch the Plains: Sweeps away resentful spirits within Youmingzi’s formation 16.

The sword responds to ancient relics, formations, and Lin Wudao’s power through vibration, light, and directional movement.

• Corpse repulsion: Its emerging ancient patterns drive the surrounding corpse tide away from Lin Wudao within a ten-meter radius 6.
• Illusion assistance: Golden light disperses shadows during the High Antiquity Illusion Array; the sword then indicates mural-like ground patterns inside the mirror maze 8.
• Core destruction: Used with the Star Spirit-Guiding Formation Diagram and support from Su Yao and the Holy Maiden to destroy the Fallen Immortal Ancient Demon’s core 19.
• Star Palace interaction: Its combined form resonates with the abyss lord’s Devil Qi and the Star Palace’s restraints, allowing Lin Wudao to exploit their connection 29.

Limitations and Damage

• Not invulnerable: Tiny cracks appear during the High Antiquity Illusion Array, and starlight blades from the Tianxuan Star Coffin’s guardian leave deep gouges in it 8 15.
• Regeneration can outlast its attacks: Reanimated corpses reassemble after being cut apart. Within the Ten Thousand Corpses Devour Heaven Formation, severed flesh instead forms additional monsters 5 6.
• Does not prevent transmitted harm: Contact with a cursed Yin soldier sends freezing power along the blade, covering Lin Wudao’s arm in frost 15.
• Can be blocked or countered: The Fallen Immortal Ancient Demon reflects a lightning–fire thrust, an Ancient Witch Clan light pillar corrodes a projected attack, and the altar barrier reflects Falling Star Annihilation before the sword’s fusion 19 24 27.
